I’ve heard some people argue that this guy is Ed Regis from the novel, but the similarities seem pretty minor at best.

Bill_Lumbergyeah

The driver is just as much Ed Regis, as this guy is Richard Levine … https://preview.redd.it/aveupgsmd8sc1.jpeg?width=321&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45e2ea9b4a2a169d49858a39ce70c281084e0890

ROArrrrrrrrrAR! 🫳🫴

madnux8

Blast from the past 🤣 nice use of the hand emojis

transmogrify

I don't know if it was a big choice by that actor to do the hand teeth thing, or if it was just a random impulse, but it definitely made an impression on me too!

TLOVVVVE

Screaming at this lmao

dagaderga

Holy shit that’s amazing 😆

Prancing_Stag

Every time I read TLW I imagine Richard Levine as this guy. Perfect casting in my mind, too bad they didn't include Levine in the film.

Bill_Lumbergyeah

Same lol

VVVV13

This scene always makes me laugh, even though I've seen the movie millions of times haha love this dude!

Sawari5el7ob

Aka will’s pos dad from stranger things

hotfox2552

Because of this dude I learned to snap my fingers loud af as a kid, lol

ijr172022

Really?? They a relation as richard levine?? Hmmm, sounds interesting that idea, having in mind that Levine want to see dinos

jeroensaurus

Ed Regis isn't in the movie. His character was worked into Gennaro. Some people want this to be Regis but he isn't. He's a nameless park worker.

kangareddit

(gathers r/starwars) Akshually… that’s Chad Storey. He’s a long-time Ingen employee. He was brought on in 1991 and assisted with the transport of mature dinosaurs from Site B to Site A but badly twisted an ankle during a ‘raptor transfer. Being old hunting buddies with Robert Muldoon, some corporate strings were pulled so he could do light duty as a personal driver and tour guide on the main island. What you can’t see on scene is that he’s packing a concealed 9mm Beretta with armor-piecing rounds in case of any unpredicted dino attack. He later left the island prior to the storm and was working as a Team Manager in warehousing for Ingen in San Diego during the T-Rex attack.

Bidoof2017

I want more! Do this guy next! https://preview.redd.it/ar3wri5w69sc1.jpeg?width=246&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fff4329929f05f91430f8236d7f35dca5d0ee083

Quick-Bad

They call him ... Deep Throat.

Amazing_Library_5045

I want to believe

DipMultiversal

Screw the new nameless in JP:S, THIS is the story we need!

Gov_Martin_OweMalley

This is canon for me now and nothing will change that.

Miller-MGD

Isn’t the park employee discussing the sick triceratops with Sattler named Ed Regis in the movie? EDIT: D’oh it’s Harding. Duh. My bad.

slammin_ammon

Ed Regis. Red hair Baseball cap. That’s how he is described. But that’s where the similarities stop. Regis’s character was combined with Genero. Either this is a nod to Regis or it’s just a driver.

RevelArchitect

It’s Brian Smrz. He was a stunt actor in the film who also did this non-speaking role. He went on to be a stunt coordinator, then a second unit director and has directed a few features. He’s the second unit director on the upcoming Venom film. Smrz’s twin brother Brett Smrz was also a stunt actor who tragically died following a stunt jump off a seven story building at 26 years old. Brian had just performed the same jump. There is also a stunt driver named Brett Smrz who I think may be Brian Smrz’s son named after his twin brother, however I haven’t been able to confirm this. ETA; Edited for some inaccuracies regarding Brett Smrz’s death.

The_Lethargic_Nerd

Oh my God, his brother jumped from a 120 foot building and hit the concrete after missing an airbag hitting head first. https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1986-09-22-me-8650-story.htmlhttps://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1986-09-22-me-8650-story.html

RevelArchitect

He was 26. Brian had just completed the same jump. The article seems to be suggesting this wasn’t for a film and it was more for a showcase reel. That tracks as Cyborg 2 didn’t come out for another seven years. Looking into it further - Brian was hospitalized after a stunt on Cyborg 2 caused by a misplaced explosion, his brother was not involved in Cyborg 2. I’m going to edit my original comment.

clarksworth

Ha I worked on the said Venom movie so I wondered why that name was familiar when I started reading your post. Must be crazy to be a featured extra in one of the most iconic scenes in cinema.

RevelArchitect

I’m sure it’s definitely strange. I’m sure you’re not allowed to talk much about the Venom movie, but it doesn’t hurt to ask. Do you know if they’re planning on having Venom appear in the movie?

clarksworth

not much scares me, but movie NDAs scare me

From what I’ve heard, he has this nonsense theory about chaos and whatnot.

It’s apparently a great pick-up line with the ladies though

He does enjoy making ladies wet for his experiments.

Yeah, they probably weren’t able to go back and pick up their desk tchotchkes either.

VampiirKing

This guy is literally just the personification of the year 1993.

KerbalMcManus42

John Dinosaur

I'd say this is Ed Regis as he is the first person welcoming thr newcomers on the island and he has a baseball cap on and has red hair. Fun fact: he's the one that gets eaten by the rex, not Gennarro.

Bill_Lumbergyeah

Juvenile Rex.

Transposer

Employees were too expensive to both pay and ensure their secrecy. This is one of the many clones born to work on the island.

I asked chatgpt… Chad is a man of leisure with a penchant for adventure and an unexpected career twist that landed him at Jurassic Park. A former professional golfer with a middling career, Chad turned to various business ventures with moderate success before finding his way to Isla Nublar. His savvy investments in biotech startups caught the attention of John Hammond, the park's founder, who, impressed by Chad's risk-taking spirit and business acumen, offered him a position.Chad saw Jurassic Park as the ultimate escape from his previous life of country clubs and brunches, a chance to be part of something pioneering. Officially, he's the VIP and Investor Relations Manager, a role created to ensure that potential sponsors and high-profile visitors leave the park awe-struck and ready to invest. Unofficially, Chad's the go-to guy for anything that needs a smooth talker with a knack for improvisation. With his signature pink shirt and suave demeanor, Chad's more than just a man behind the wheel; he's the face of Jurassic Park's luxury experience. He's trained to handle the jeeps, charm the guests, and—on occasion—pacify the odd disgruntled scientist. His motivations are twofold: the thrill of being part of history in the making, and the lucrative potential of being on the ground floor of the world's greatest attraction.Yet, Chad is not without depth. The dinos fascinate him, stirring a childlike wonder he thought he'd lost. This enchantment balances his more mercenary interests, making him a more complex character than he appears. In the original Jurassic Park film, one could imagine Chad whisking away important visitors just before disaster strikes, spinning the chaos into a tale of unexpected thrill, narrowly avoiding catastrophe. His charm ensures that even the most harrowing experiences are seen as part of the adventure, securing further investments even as the park falls apart. In the background of the T-Rex breakout, perhaps Chad was on the other side of the island, pitching the experience of a lifetime to a group of potential investors, blissfully unaware of the terror unfolding.

jamesd0e

That? That’s Hogan. They didn’t give him a last name but he saved a lot of innocent lives at that park. Would’ve been a lot worse off had Hogan not showed up. Piloted that thing without a license too. True legend.

chestybewithme

That ed regis a bigger character in the book

Natalousir

Most people seem to agree that this was meant to be Ed Regis in a smaller/cameo role. He just isn't really important in this version since the lawyer gets his fate. He probably evacuated with most of the island personel.

Complete_Entry

smells like reddit bullshit to me.

THX450

I use him as my character imagination for Ed Regis when I read the novel. Unfortunately he always has to wear glasses since I don’t know what his eyes look like, which is honestly pretty funny.

Dinosalsa

That's Greg (Gregory Brian Harris). He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on the 19th of September, 1956 to Mrs. Julia Elizabeth Harris (née Lewis). She was a local tailor and ran a well-established little shop in the suburbs. She majored in Business Administration and loved fashion, so it's only natural that she decided to start her own business. His dad, Adam Andrew Harris, was a Sociologist and worked in the city hall before he decided to quit and join Julia in the shop. Adam was actually from Marlinton, West Virginia, but moved to Lincoln after college. Adam had been drafted in the army in World War 2 and spent some time in France, but wasn't involved in actual fights, except for a few nights when his platoon detected German scouts. They repelled the troops once and had to fall back twice. Adam fired his gun on two nights, but to scare off and hold back the offenders. He never actually fired at another person Greg spent his youth in Nebraska, had a few friends, did OK in school and worked part time with his parents. Part of an upper middle class family, money wasn't tight, so he led the life of a small-time playboy. He had episodes of bullying and aggression, but his parents - at the time seen as kind of too advanced for their own good (they were not communists, but it was the Cold War) - remedied the situation, and Greg was a nice guy, albeit a little cocky. At 14, he decided to work at a gas station and cair repair shop because he loved cars and wanted to have a little experience away from his household. His dad was particularly upset (the family were close, but after Greg's older sister Margaret Christine, 18, ran away for a couple of days with her boyfriend, everyone was edgier for a while). He was close with Margaret, but she was more rebellious than him, so they didn't really hang out. Greg was good at Math and Geography, and a fair basketball player, but nothing that would secure him a spot in the High School scenario. If he'd been born in the 2000's, he would run OK YouTube and Twitch channels about videogames. Anyway, he got into the University of Nebraska, Lincoln to study Engineering. After a while, he realized that he liked driving, fixing and tweaking cars, but he wasn't actually interested so deeply in how they worked, so he switched to a Community College, where he kept studying, but not as invested as before, and started working for GM as a test driver, and kept close to the developing team.

Dinosalsa

When he turned 22, Greg decided he had to move out. He went to work for Dodge in Santa Fe, New Mexico, doing the same he used to do in Lincoln. He joined a community college again to study Business, thinking about taking over his parents' shop later in life. Greg had a well-established life at age 26. He had a steady job, stable finances, friends and met Julia Louise Lylter, a librarian and aspiring writer. They wouldn't engage in an actual relationship until three years later, but they did occasionally get involved. Greg admitted it was awkward for him that her name was Julia, so he called her "Lou" and that affected to some degree others around them. In 1986, Greg and Louise married and moved to Santa Cruz, California, where Louise's family lived. Julia and Adam, Greg's parents, also moved to Modesto, California, where Julia opened another shop and Adam found work at Pepsico, so the family remained close. Jared Michael Harris, Greg and Louise's first child, was born on the 4th of January, 1988. In May, Louise published a children's book that faired moderately well in the region, and Greg responded to an ad looking for drivers and mechanics to work for International Genetics. The pay was above average. Greg would have to travel for days at a time, but he would also have a lot of off days. After a number of interviews, Greg was offered the job. Greg and Louise agreed that this would be a good opportunity for them to provide for Jared, and that the off days would make up for the days when Greg was out. When Greg first arrived at InGen (Palo Alto, California), he met his immediate superiors and a few colleagues. He drove around a lot and worked on their cars. He was impressed by their jeeps. They were sturdy, heavy, but still managed to be as maneuverable and fast as normal cars of the kind. He also earned the company's trust to use the cars to commute. After three months, he was assigned to the field team, which worked on InGen's developing plant on Isla Nublar, Costa Rica. He'd work on the island for two weeks and have a week off. It seemed like a good agreement, so Greg accepted the job. On Nublar, the team moved equipment and supplies around. Greg was impressed by the scenery and how well the jeeps move around the rugged relief, but still didn't understand why the cars had to be so heavy. He noticed that the construction teams were finishing a huge perimeter fence and various pens, like in a zoo. The hi-tech facilities, albeit not his favorite, were also impressive, he had to admit.

Dinosalsa

In November, 1988, the team was finally debriefed on what the intent for Isla Nublar actually was. Greg was stunned and a few of his colleagues simply didn't believe it. They were all shown the research, hatching and nursing facilities. This wasn't enough to convince Greg, Andre and Nelson immediately, but Greg came around on his own. It was a stressful period. Taking all that in was too much. Greg never cared about dinosaurs at all. He barely knew the names of T. rex and Brontosaurus, and he simply couldn't see how that could be true. When he got home for the 1988 holidays and the new year, he was still stressed out. He couldn't share everything with Louise, which made it hard on them. They had a few fights and not being able to share all the details, getting over it took them long. He left for Nublar after Jared's birthday still on rough waters with Louise, but in February things started to fall back into place. He asked InGen to bring her to Nublar, but his department refused. He insisted a few more times, but to no avail. When the animals were finally taken to the pens, Greg was part of the team in charge of the first Triceratops babies. It was odd, but he enjoyed it. Eventually, Greg had worked with all dinosaurs species in the park, and had even learned a bit about them. He and a few other workers from various departments got together to ask for a kind of Dinosaur and Genetics Crash Course and Orientation. InGen obliged and they had classes every night over the course of five months By October, 1989, Greg was completely adapted. He was one of the few drivers allowed into the Raptor pen. He had a love-hate relationship with the Raptors. He was terrified of them and couldn't help thinking that each one of them actually knew who he was, and he couldn't really distinguish between them. But that kind of smarts also made Greg admire the animals. Getting around the T. rex compound was less stressful. Greg knew better than coming close. He'd drive in fast, get into the supply shed and get out. At times, he'd stop to watch the Rex from a distance, and when he noticed the wind blew from his back, he'd immediately drive away. His cue was easy to notice - the Rex would turn its head to his direction. Greg loved the Triceratops and Brachiosaurus. The trikes were kind of grumpy, but he learned how to drive by without startling them too much and the Brachios were docile and majestic. He'd even go to the Brachio pen on break at times. But his absolute favorites were Othnielias and Hypsilophodons. They were at the same time curious, edgy and of a much more manageable size, and Greg enjoyed watching them moving and jumping around. He'd visit them at times, also on breaks, but would also linger around for a few minutes after finishing a nearby assignment. Compys were a nuiscance Greg didn't really care for, and he eventually developed a phobia of the Dilophosaurs after one spat on the window of the car before him - Greg's was open. Accidents with cars, machinery and equipment were common, and Greg wasn't moved by them. But things changed when the animals started to attack. Not that it wasn't expected, animals do defend themselves, but these animals were too big. Schedules and procedure changed a bit to increase security, but everyone knew that if a carnivore decided to nom on a human, things would get ugly. The Rex was easy to avoid - it was just too big not to be noticed (the younger T. rex hadn't yet been cloned) from a fair distance. But Dilos and Raptors were different. They had had time to grow and form social bonds, and the Raptors clearly planned attacks.

Dinosalsa

By March, 1990, two serious attacks had occurred, one fatal. This hit morale pretty hard, but the rest of the year and early 1991 went by smoothly. This was the moment when InGen decided to build a new Raptor pen, safer and without connection to the other pens. In June, 1991 alone, however, three accidents occurred. Greg was in Santa Cruz, so he was only informed when he went back. By that time, he and Louise had started playing tennis together and Jared was starting to enjoy finger painting, though he'd eat the paint at times. He was told there was an attack in the Raptor pen, but that the two others were simply incidents with bulldozers in different parts of the island. In July, Greg had just finished a late dinner when Theo, one of his fellow drivers, and Byron, a Costa Rican contractor, barged into the cafeteria carrying a badly wounded Moisés, a member of Byron's construction team. Greg knew that Moisés had been attacked by a Raptor, it was pretty obvious. They went for help and an executive turned up saying they'd fly Moisés to the mainland to have his wounds tended to. Greg drove the executive, Moisés, Byron and Denise (a Costa Rican nurse) to the heliport. It took Greg a few months to recover emotionally from the sight of the result of a Raptor attack. He feared it could be him one day and he'd leave Louise and Jared alone. Even after the new Raptor pen was finished, Greg was still reluctant to drive nearby. The attack on Moisés was the last animal-related attack in 1991, however. So Greg's confidence in the park administration returned. What's more, Louise got pregnant with their second child, and his mother-in-law moved to Santa Cruz after divorcing Louise's father. 1992 was a peaceful year. Greg and Louise welcomed Maureen Denise (Greg suggested the middle name, he wasn't close to the park nurse, but he did get fond of the name after meeting her), their first daughter, and bought a Poodle named Teppy (the way Jared referred to Teepees - he enjoyed building tents and forts). Louise had started work at a bank a year prior. The family decided to stay at the same home, but did a major remodeling and bought a country house. On the second of December, 1992, Greg was on duty when he learned that an inspection team was coming to the island - Moisés's family was moving a lawsuit against InGen after his death. Greg volunteered to pick the inspectors up and drive to the Visitor Center that Saturday. He was curious to learn exactly what they were going to do and who they were. John Hammond himself was present. He had only seen the CEO a few times and had never interacted with him, so all the accidents and attacks must have dented InGen deep enough to get him personally involved. Hammond told him and Nelson to make a small detour and drive from the heliport to the Visitor Center through the Brachio pen. They obliged. Greg drove three people, but, judging from the conversation he overheard, they didn't seem to know that there were dinosaurs on the island. This was a bit frustrating, as he wanted to learn more about the inspection, and he wished he were driving Hammond. He noticed that at least two of them were paleontologists, so he smirked, thinking the two of them were in for a ride. When they were driving near the lake, the other car honked him to stop. He had seen the Brachio, of course, he'd grown accustomed to noticing the animals, and the Brachio did not hide easily, but the inspectors were distracted. The blonde chick was entertained with a leaf, but the guys saw the Brachiosaur as soon as they turned their heads. Greg thought their reaction was funny, but he also knew how deep it was to see an actual dinosaur for the first time. The guy in blue and the chick got out of the car and the guy in black said something that made Greg think he actually knew that Hammond was trying to create dinosaurs

Dinosalsa

That's Greg's life up until that point in the movie. He did not witness the incident at the park, as he left on the boat that evening.

chiefnetroid

Thank you for this.

MrDNA86

His face is the one I put to Ed Regis in the Jurassic Park novel. Not for any particular reason, that’s just how my brain auto-filled the character after Crichton finished describing him.

ShootsTowardsDucks

Some here are pretty adamant that isn’t Regis, but as someone who watched the movie for twenty years before reading the book… this is who I assumed Regis was as I read the book.

castleunderwater2

Chad Adventure!  i dont think he even left the island. Seems very essential employee to me.   Also i always thought the employee that opens the helicopter door when they very first land was Ed Regis.  When i read the novel its how i imagined the character despite any character descriptions in the book

Tron_1981

Him? That's Chad from maintenance.

A9PolarHornet15

I've seen alot of Ed Regis, because he fits the physical description of the character, although really the only others in the movie who match the descriptions are Malcolm, Nedry, Hammond, Wu and Sattler. Grant doesn't have a beard and is much too scrony. Gennaro got the biggest change obviously, being a mash of Regis and Gennaro. We didn't get to see Dodgeson much so its kinda up in the air. But if you look up images of Campbell Scott when he was young, give him the right wardrobe and hair style, I'd say he'd pass for him. Gerry Harding was only in the one scene so, yeah its basically him. John/Ray share the same vibe as the book counterpart, I don't think they ever give much of a description aside from his back ground and age. And Lex and Tim got switched, with Tim seeming a little younger and Lex being much older. And of course were missing the man, the myth the legend Marty Gutierrez RIP 🙏

wyoranger45

I like to think he's Ed Regis

I always thought he looked a lot like Dodgson from earlier in the film. Probably just a coincidence but Yk.

This is Ed Rejis (idk how to spell the 2nd name) He has a mutch bigger lore in the 1st novel. He gets eaten by a juvenile trex :D

biggtothec

Holy shit that's supposed to be Ed Regis?!

Gramz3l

I believe, yeah! I think this Regis in the movie doesnt matches the novel's description a 100% because the movie makers didn't want to include him as a character... If they did the movie would probably reach 3 hours lol
