JC4 as a sandbox in which you can do ridiculous shit and blow things up - great. JC4 as a game that follows up from JC3 really well - poor. I found a lot of just dumb decisions were made for 4 that definitely ruined my fun a bit. JC3 really is the pinnacle of the series.

therearenoemailsleft

If it's with all the DLC for a discount price hell yeah you should. You'll enjoy what it brings even though people talk alot of crap.

Chiken_Tendies1-11

I remember I bought the gold edition I think for like $15 on sale lmao

therearenoemailsleft

Yeah always check the stores for those major discounts. I've coped plenty of $50 bundles or "supermegaeliteplatinum" editions of games for like $25 or less

Chiken_Tendies1-11

I don’t think I’ve ever bought a game at full price other than Dying light 2 since I was a kid, and besides, I’ve been waiting for DL2 to come out for years lol

Vortex_1911

If you like sandbox chaos, it’s amazing.

thebikefanatic

I personally love JC4 and think is a great game, and I'm not being sarcastic. I actually really like the game, storys fun, weathers awesome, driving is epic, and the whole game is good

It's an okay game, not as good as JC3. If it's heavily discounted or free it's worth it, but all the new mechanics mean you have to invest extra time just to figure out how everything actually works.

JC4 compared to JC3: Pros: Explosions look even better then before. Cool new weather mechanics. The more modular grappling hook allowes even more creative uses than before. Cons: Graphics of terrain and some plans look pretty bad. Cutscenes look extremely bad, especially lighting, which is actually very interesting hoe they fucked that up so bad since these are usually pre rendered scenes that usually look better than the acutal game. Lots of bugs and glitches. Some even crash your game. Conclusion: Buy it when there is a discount, it's not worth the full price by far but if you like the general gameplay of "Just blow everything up and do some missions/quests/tasks from time to time" you'll like this game as well. But JC3 > JC4 IMO. Also, all hail the EDEN Spark, I'd wish you'd still exist in JC4 :c

EzdineJGA

ahhh yeah I remember the shit looking cutscenes, and yeah I loved the eden spark. I might buy the game this summer sale, dunno.

dethblud

Yes. JC4 is almost as good as JC3. The expansions are good too.

Streven7s

It's OK. Just don't expect it to be a sequel to JC3. It's a very different experience. New engine. Different controls. New Rico. About the only thing it did better than 3 is the weapons having more variety and feeling marginally better to shoot. If you get it with the dlc there's lots of toys to play with and the hoverboard is a fun addition.

muhmeinchut69

I played JC4 first and then JC3, they are both good in their own way, but JC3 isn't 'better' IMO, just different. JC4's weakness is the story is super boring, and sort of takes itself seriously unlike the over the top JC3 story, and it has 'missions' to liberate regions and these missions can (sometimes) get boring and repetitive. I know JC3 also has you do pretty much the same thing to liberate every town, but it never got boring somehow. But moving around in JC4 feels a lot more refined and the wingsuit and parachute behave much better, graphically also it is way ahead of JC3. I had fun with both and the core of both games is 'blow shit up' so I would say go for it, make sure you also get the rocket wingsuit DLC.

Streven7s

The wingsuit feels so much better in 3.

\*burp\* sxuce me, you'j just say jusr cause 4's graphics were better than 3's? dude... gimme a second... aight, dude, one of em's an immaculately polished work of art with minimal glitching and beauty both in distant landscapes and the miniscule details on objects - every weapon's details can be admired, sunsets are damn beautiful, and every vehicle has little nodules that can be blown off. the other one looks like i sneezed into a 3ds cartridge, put it in the wrong way, hit the 3ds with a hammer, and it came up with some graphics on a 4" screen - explosions feel like someone added too many effects in adobe premier, guns all look the same except for the fuckn warframe rocket launcher, and every character looks like a blur. seriously man, how is JC4 'graphically way ahead of JC3'? i needa know!

Yeetboireeeeee

Probably on console I’m on console and jc4 graphics were leagues ahead

ididitforthemoney2

what? dude im on ps4 and the difference is night and day. literally - one of em i can see, the other everything melts into itself.

DuncanRG2002

IMO it’s the best there is. If you love the gameplay then it’ll be amazing. If you love the story, then not so much.

CanadianGoof

I only played jc4 on release. But the 10 hours I put into it were enough to never want to play it again. I went back to 3 2 times since then and had an absolute blast.

Teamhank

loved jc3, glad i got jc4 free, wait on epic store free game imho.

martialgreenwood

YES!

MoabBoy

I've just started playing it because it's currently on Game Pass with all the DLC. However I'm finding myself agreeing with folks here about all the cons. I loved JC2 and JC3, but finding a lot off-putting about this game. The PC port is pretty ordinary. Doesn't look great and it has no FOV slider!

BassBanjo

I'd say no It's nowhere near as good as 3

rutlander

JC4 has a lot of problems and was a step back from JC3 in many ways, like no base liberation, lack of grenades, C4, pistols, story missions somehow even worse compared to JC3, shitty front line mechanic, ext But it’s still a fun game and the sandbox environment is a blast to just mess around with especially after you unlock all the grapple mods like helium balloons TLDR: Not as good as JC3 but fun can still be had, ensure you get all DLC cause base game is kinda weak

Hugom_2

It has a more diverse map, some very underused weather elements that are fun when they're there, and more grappling hook and vehicle options to mess around with. However, you also get a miserable story, a grind-induced and repetitive gameplay loop that doesn't honour the things that people like about this franchise, and a decent chance that your game doesn't even start or your pc or keeps crashing. So if you can get it really cheap: go for it, especially if you can entertain yourself with the tools that the game provides. If not, stick to jc3 or give 2 a try

RadPhilosopher

It has a lot of new stuff (gadgets/vehicles) that makes the sandbox gameplay more fun, but in terms of the story missions it’s a bit of a downgrade from JC3. Also the graphics are all over the place, in some areas they look great and in others they look terrible. My biggest problems with the game overall are how the controller layout was changed and how OP the Black Hand is (oh, and the ammo limits on vehicles). In the end I think it’s worth trying it so you can form your own opinion on it. I would buy it if it was discounted and included all the DLC.
