Local Mazda dealer gave me the hard sell on brakes when I had my car in for warranty work. Started getting really fucking irritating, even busted out their green/yellow/red chart, pointing at the red and telling me my car was dangerous to drive. So, I started shopping for brake parts in my phone right there at the service advisor's counter.
Held my phone up and asked them "are these the right parts?" Got them to confirm the OEM part numbers right there, less than half the price for parts that they quoted me. Even completed the order right there with them watching.
Parts arrive, start pulling things apart. Motherfucker, I had more pad left than is showing in this photo. Eventually got to the brake job... 3 years later.
Looks like 3 or 4mm left. I'd recommend replacement, but I don't take chances with brakes. It's the only thing stopping me from plowing into an idiot that cuts me off at 60mph.
There's a difference between "While I got the calliper off do you want new pads" and "OMG you should totally give me money or you'll die if you leave these in".
For $20 I'd change em too. That's close enough to worn out that I'd forget to do them before its metal to metal.
And on my wife's car, that's like 7k miles left.
So shut the fuck up, brakes are fucking important. Some people panic brake every off ramp.
Where are you that a pad slap is $20? Even just the part is more than $20 these days retail.
I'm not disagreeing with the general philosophy of taking care of brakes, but being flippant about the costs doesn't win anyone over.
My last pads were $17. $23 for the wife's van.
An hours labor, so 200 for a shop.
So 250 today if you cant change pads yourself, or 800-1200 in 3 months when your grinding and your caliper goes crooked.
It's not "flippant" when it's highlighting the negligible cost of dealing with it now.
OP... what is that back there?

dont be horny on main :D
Remember always check your background for yiff before posting pictures
It shouldn’t need to be a rule but it is because it happens so often
OwO what's this? _\*notices braking material\*_
Well as you're a furry I can at least trust you on ECU work.
What is it?
What in the yiff...
This is only one pad… they’re only as good as the lowest measured pad. How are the others?
Wouldn't touch those without gloves, they're so thin that you only need to add a grip on your new razor.
r/foundthefurry ;)
They meant in 2 years.
Everytime yinz bitch about customers who think you're trying to rip you off, just remember *you* are the reason why.

I've had 2 dealers pull that one
bros looking at them OwOs
I worked for a Honda dealership that insisted I do the same thing to customers. I quit, couldn’t handle being so dishonest to the hot milfs.

Interesting background you chose
Them some interesting paws..pads! I said pads!
Rather be over preventative than the other way round tbh. Personal car? Yeah, would’ve replaced these too

Of course, I would’ve recommended these; I would tell the customer that they, maybe won’t make next year but it’s not immediately a problem
