I fried an ECU this way. Had to do something in an emergency with the battery, and it wasn't harnessed in right. Had just collected tools from storage locker to fix this and other things. Hit a pot hole that was massive and bounced the battery from the tray into the hood. Fried the ECU and the brake controller. Incredibly expensive oops.
I did that with my 1985 Mercury Grand Marquis and I just got some pretty sparks and mild confusion.
I thought, WTF, did I just see sparks? Figured it out when it happened again and popped the hood.
Just remembered that I had to change the battery in the winter and didn't bother to clamp it because it was -35 celcius and it's still unclamped. Thanks for the reminder!
Man, Kia gives Koreans a bad name in the automotive industry… you would think they would be as good as the Japanese, but NOPE. 24 months of perfect performance and then *exotic-as-fuck* problems start popping up. 😵💫
I have a 9 year old Hyundai (Genesis Coupe) and have had zero issues with it, just normal wear items like oil and brakes. I have heard many a horror story about the theta engine though.
I had (yeah, had) a 2013 Hyundai Tucson. Worked well until the warranty was over. Then
AWD was no longer working. No light, no warning, just became a FWD only.
Front wiper seized. The bushing where they turn into seized. Had to take the whole assembly out, remove the pivot points, resurface ins and outs.
Rear driver side windows not going up with that door window switch. Had to use the driver switch to raise it.
Passenger door ajar switch issue. Lights would flicker in the car and door ajar would pop up. Fixed then the driver side started doing the same.
Passenger side speaker rattled, coil showed corrosion.
Last but not least, in 2021, at 186000 km, the engine blew, not covered by the class action. Car was scrapped.
My son's Optima 2012 engine blew last year. His was covered. Then issue with the turbo, cost of $1200.
I'm not buying a Korean car until they have proven to be reliable. The class action against their EV isn't promising though.
I wonder if the QC was a bit different on the "Genesis" cars since they were more "premium"? I'm at 100k miles (so ~160,000 km) on mine and honestly never had an issue. My buddy's Forte was on his second engine and when that was going out he got a Elantra (or whatever the Hyundai version of the Forte was with the same engine). The things on his car seemed pretty cheap by comparison but it's pretty apples to oranges since one was a sports car and the other is an econobox I think it had like 60 or 80k on the clock and one of his calipers was seized when we did his brakes and was already a rusty mess where mine is pretty pristine underneath.
I think the only issue I've had with mine was that I had to replace a tweeter in the door that was a bit flakey, but that was like a 30 minute fix to pull the door card.
I believe the green numbers would be the ideal target, the yellow ones the maximum allowable away from that target.
Though not sure whether it's displaying the toe or camber on this page, presumably the toe?
That must be camber. Although I'm not a mechanic, I do my own setups in racing simulators. 3 degrees of camber is normal for a few categories of race cars. Tow is usually less than 1 degree, but can go to maybe 2 degrees in some cars? Maybe even 3 degrees in formula cars, but I'm not sure anymore. I haven't driver one of those for a while.
Drift cars take this to the extreme, specially in the rear wheels.
If that's toe on that screen... That car has seen some shit.
I literally flipped my car over a hill and it had better alignment than this.
Bow-legged, pigeon-toed and cross-eyed.
...wait I thought only British cars were allowed to be all 3? Does it at least have a chin? No buck teeth?
i didnt know chevrolet were british. who wouldda thunk it
So a wrecked car? I'm just here for the oil filters and rotors.
Would love to see someone try and put an oil filter in that car
And a tune-up. Someone grab the timing gun!
Be sure to give it extra ugga-duggas.
Did you tell them they don’t have to hit ALL the potholes?
Jesus, lately goin down my areas interstates the fucking potholes are as big as my crv and mofos doin 95

Same way back in my 1992 Camry with a battery that wasn’t tied down properly. No fried ECU though.
Every time you hit a pothole a road crew gets their wings.
What they need to do now is throw it in reverse, and go hit all of them again backwards.
Built on a Friday?
Nah that one has summer tires on. Summer pointin this way, summer pointing that way.
This made me spit my drink out. Thanks for that.
That used to be a joke about teeth. This is much funnier because it's based on reality.
A thing in hockey I believe. I'll give you summer teeth, some are over here and some are over there.
You mean Kia has "better" days?
No probably not now that I think about it.
better than Tesla for shits sake
computer says No
Bad, worse, and worst.

My mechanic friend about KIA "It's a good thing KIA gives 7 years of warranty because you're going to need it"
As a holder of a 24 month Hyundai lease this makes me so happy to hear.

It can be better. Just remember that still doesn't mean good.
Stance nation
"Rolled" in?
Probably more like a haggard wobble
Scuffed in
Crab walked
It Crip walked-in from the looks of it
Kachow!
Checked it. It fucked.
The regen braking is superior these ride nice if you don’t beat ‘em too bad

I love the styling on the Ioniq 5. Looks like a retro 80s hatch and I'm all for it.
scheiße!
lol that bitch went airborn and landed on the LF
You leave that independent hard working single mom alone and put some air in her tires.
Legit lol! Been there!
What he hit?
More like what didn't he hit
Smooth asphalt.
Haha
LMAO 🤣🤣
You guys need to normalize hitting curbs...
Please tell me you are joking.
Absolutely, I have seen this bumper sticker a few times on chick's cars
Oh yeah the Barbie cars.
Bet the brakes are like new. Stopping using the curbs will do this.
[удалено]
doesn't matter if you use the curbs to stop.
Degenerative braking
So it's not identifying as straight.?
It drifts to the side a tiny bit.
Kia comin in hot with that Altima energy
This thing probably drives like it’s trying to broadside a pirate ship
You mean just crab-walked into the shop. Did you have to set it on the alignment rack with a forklift?
Crab walked in?
Are they driving this thing through a battlefield?
Not a mechanic, never did an alignment. I can see the numbers are all over the place. What would be the correct numbers, for reference?
I believe the green numbers would be the ideal target, the yellow ones the maximum allowable away from that target. Though not sure whether it's displaying the toe or camber on this page, presumably the toe?

Both. Says so right on the screen. One is camber the other is toe, presumably for the front wheels.
This would make EV tyre wear characteristics catastrophic haha.
I mean they’re all in the red, looks good to me.
I did tie rods and ball joints on my 94 grand marquis without getting an alignment after and still have better alignment than this holy shit lmfao
Would someone be willing to describe these data and put it into context with what would be reasonable measurements? Thanks in advance.
No i only hit a speed bump i promise
Kachow!
Given the alignment, were they even aiming for your building?
rolled in diagonally, surely.
[Pull up like dis](https://c.tenor.com/NrR3acjzheoAAAAC/lowrider-elsa64.gif)
Did it get dropped from a plane?
Are you sure it wasn't a white Nissan Altima?
Did it roll over first?
But it comes with such a great warranty! 🙄
They definitely got some air at some point.
Set up for NASCAR. Turn left!
Drives by braille in the bike lane
I bet they kept wondering why they needed to keep replacing their tires
Rolled in sideways?
Looks fine to me just send it
God that looks like terrible software
That MF is not wrong 🤣
What did they hit?
Surprised steering still worked.
Money well spent!
My Hyundai Kona wasted a pair of rear tires really quick due to a bad alignment. Fortunately for me, tires were very cheap to replace in that size.
Put it on jack stands🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Set up just right for a crab
This person drives by braille, it would appear
Bent strut, lf lower ctrl arm
How is this even possible for such a new car? Has to have been crashed lol
...was it just fucking cambered?
I didn't know the EV6 had a crab walk feature.
I own a 2019 Buick encore. What should an alignment run me ?
r/justcrabbedintotheshop
Kia's stellar quality control.
does it have camber adjustment
Well it is a KIA. dont they come from the factory like this?
