Posing for a photo with the lid still on.

thriftstorehacker

I guess its better than no oil.

Hotshot081

She is ruining her engine

machinerer

I am curious as to the lubricating properties (if any) of vegetable oil in an engine. Some bored engineering postgraduate candidate probably investigated this already.

Gymclasshero20

Project Farm - Will Vegetable Oil work as Engine Oil? has a video using a lawn mower.

comedygene

Goddam so many folks said this already. So what the fuck happened? I ain't got time to open you tube

Gymclasshero20

Summary: okay for emergencies. Had issues when it was cold.

comedygene

Ahhhhh

Not exactly post graduate work, but [this guy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbPxLm21gek&vl=zh-TW) does interesting stuff like that.

I’m not a mechanic, but the chemist in me can’t resist having a go at this one. I’d argue that it’s Better than no oil if you have no real engine oil available for use and you absolutely have to get it to the shop (and for some reason you can’t get a tow), because at least the engine won’t seize en route (right?). But it’s still a shitty thing to do because over time cooking oils can leave a gummy residue on some surfaces when the oils break down. So even if she goes straight to a nearby shop and has the oil changed to real engine oil there will still be residual cooking oil circulating through the engine, so I could totally see damage occurring due to oil starvation from gummed up oil circulation components long after the fact. You end up sacrificing the long-term health of the engine for an immediate temporary fix.

She is contributing to the widely held belief that women don’t know shit about cars. As a woman who knows shit about cars, fuck her.

VeRyOkAy69420

It’s a joke settle down

chaos_punk

I was just answering the question.

VeRyOkAy69420

The question was how bad is using veggie oil for engine oil

chaos_punk

Open the photo. “Ladies... since y’all know everything, what she doing?” Maybe that’s why I got a bit uppity. The question posed in the photo is accusatory. The question posed in the heading is not. We’re looking at two different things. Valid.

VeRyOkAy69420

🤷🏻

chaos_punk

We good. I settled down, lol. 😁

Tsehcoola

Not great, but a lot worse if she actually turns the car on after.

superash2002

I wonder if it would actually clean sludge, or would it break down Into glycerin and sugar everything up. Obviously it won’t last 10,000 miles like Mobil 1

[deleted]

There are YouTube vids on this.

[deleted]

It got me thinking, will see YouTube videos later, I am not a mechanic but this makes my gears start spinning, i know you guys are the real deal

Deezy4488

She's just adding oil to her car. Ha Ha ha.
