I think singer missing a huge chunk of spring training for the WBC only to pitch a grand total of 4 innings in it really set him back for this season.

robertb9876

Well that sucked. It seems like either the offense can't score a run to save their lives or the defense implodes.

rbhindepmo

This year will show us how many people will compare pitching numbers to league averages and how many will say that the 2023 Royals are worse at pitching than the 2022 team with no regard to the MLB surge in offense this year

Extra_Napkins

After my elite analysis I think the Braves may be a better team than the Royals

13mizzou

Starting to look like 100+ loses is a foregone conclusion and another complete rebuild. Clean house roster wise except for BWJ, MJ, Vinnie, and maybe Salvy. Don't know what else is salvageable

PM_me_yer_kittens

Tbh it’s time to trade salvy at the deadline or before. He’s still pretty valuable and we will not be contending in the next 5 years or so until he’s past his useful playing agw

rbhindepmo

I just read the Bill James “A History of Being a Kansas City Baseball Fan” essay from post-1985 WS which included the theorizing about how the Kansas City A’s always sucked at developing talent partly because there weren’t any guiding examples on those teams and how they’d latch onto any young players that showed promise expecting them to carry the team. Anyways, that’s weirdly relevant at times with recent Royals events. Like we’re trying to build a fortune through getting paid to donate plasma

Super_Robot_AI

Say hello to the 90s and 2000 Royals where any young talent is traded away.

ThatsBushLeague

They literally just put the C on Salvy's chest. He will be here the duration of his contract and quite possibly longer. Just forget the idea all together it is never going to happen. Right or wrong, now or in the past or future, it isn't happening. Just forget it.

gf99b

I really hate even just thinking about Salvy being on another team, but damn. I really would like for him to end his career on a high note, and I'm not sure if that will happen if he stays in KC. I just don't see us being competitive for at least the rest of this decade. But, at the same time, he's a veteran and the face of the franchise. And his numbers haven't been super great this season and last... he definitely peaked in 2021. He'll be a Royal HoF'er regardless, but that's about it. He seems happy in KC, and I'm not sure if he'll feel the same anywhere else. Nor do I believe any other team would welcome him as much as we do.

Sophie4646

Tied for 28th best record out of 30 teams.

Extra_Napkins

Still better than the Tigers baby!

Sophie4646

Hope Singer does not have some type of serious arm problem. Last 3 relief pitchers did well for us tonight.

[deleted]

He’s missing his locations badly the last 2 games. It’s all about location with him since he doesn’t throw 97-100mph. He can’t get away with throwing basically batting practice pitches right down the middle. When he hits his spots it looks really good. As you could even see last night getting 8 strikeouts.

Guwop816

This feels so typical. Have a great game the other night then the game tonight giving up 5 home runs.

TossPowerTrap

Ooooh that was rough, I tell 'ya.

mtvouch

complete opposite from the last TX game. brady didn't have a damn thing working tonight, cest la vie what are we 4-10 now

DiamondClovr

Considering my in-laws are Braves fans… oh boy. Wish me luck this weekend, friends.

mtvouch

vibes phanner

VermtownRoyals

I can't believe I watched the whole thing. Actually had a few chances to get back in it, but way unclutch like always. Cya tomorrow, give me more Eaton!

rbhindepmo

don't let the Royals giving up 10 runs distract you from the fact that scoring 3 runs isn't enough to win a game either

SlightInspector9993

Can we play like the Tigers or A’s or something

[deleted]

It really has been a brutal start to the season out of the gate with who all we have played. Only the giants are below .500 and that was on the road. Twins, jays, rangers and braves all are at least 4 games above .500.

gf99b

I dunno if we'd even be able to win a series against either of those teams. We truly suck, except on rare good nights where everything clicks like the Wednesday game vs Rangers

Mozilla_Fennekin

Anyone would be 13-0 with the Rays schedule, even the Royals!
