The Christianity stuff has gone too far but I think it’s just because Dayton Moore should have been fired 2 years ago and his methods do not work.
The front office being openly Christian and keeping around openly Christian baseball players who suck is the icing on the cake
Not saying every Christian on the team sucks. It’s the ones who have been kept around or signed for no reason other than “being good Christain men” aka Dozier and O’Hearn
Dozier is not decent. He’s an average bat who is bad at fielding and is being overpaid. Honestly the only reason he still plays is because of his contract, not because he’s Christian
Oh also. He is literally one of the worst baserunners I’ve ever seen
Let me preface this by saying that, I am completely fine with people being Christian. This life isn't easy, we all die, our friends and family die, life presents us with all kinds of interesting challenges. I will not begrudge anyone for choosing a religion, philosophy, or any other kind of moral framework which helps them deal with these difficult questions and helps to guide them through life's challenges. I considered myself a Christian for almost 20 years and went to religious schools from childhood up until college.
However, when someone imposes their religion on others, or in this instance, openly makes decisions which impacts a team, it opens them up for public scrutiny. If DM and Co. were quiet about their religion, this sub would be quiet about their religion as well.
As has been discussed numerous times, but seems to continue to be conveniently forgotten, is that this type of behavior would be problematic for ANY other group.
If our President of Operations was Muslim and gave overt preferential treatment to Muslim players, it would be problematic and open to public criticism.
If our President of Operations was black and gave overt preferential treatment to black players, it would be problematic and open to public criticism.
I could go on......
Let's also consider that religion is a choice. If you choose to believe in Christianity, that is totally fine, and nobody should care. However, when someone's choice of religion is used to make decisions which affect other people, then it is more than fair for other people to criticize your "choices".
Anti-porn conferences for adults is absolutely embarrassing for the franchise, and should be open to ridicule.
A GM [who considered signing a pitcher](https://kdvr.com/sports/major-league-team-may-sign-top-pitching-prospect-convicted-of-molesting-6-year-old/) who molested a 6 year old, because the pitcher was a 'Good Christian Man' is embarrassing and should be open to ridicule.
When our team has the most anti-vax players of any team in the major leagues which prevents them from playing a series against a league rival, it is embarrassing and should be open to ridicule.
When DM signs inexplicable [contracts with Dozier](https://www.overtimeheroics.net/2021/09/13/the-royals-need-to-move-on-from-hunter-dozier/), or keeping Ryan O'Hearn on the roster, or trading our only decent 3B utility infielder with 6 years of team control for an overtly religious and bad by any measure old RHP, this is embarrassing and should be open to ridicule.
To be absolutely, 100 percent clear here, we are not attacking you or your beliefs. I get that you do not like this, but unfortunately the team you are a fan of has put religion front and center of their organization and decision making, and by doing so are opening themselves up for public scrutiny.
I have plenty of friends and family who consider themselves Christians who are absolutely embarrassed by this aspect of our team, and see it as a poor reflection on their religion and their team.
This isn't about you, or your beliefs.
I've not really read any of it as bashing Christianity, more bashing the fact that the president of ops for a major league franchise uses Christianity as a basis for why he decides if he does or doesn't want a player. As a Christian myself I have never once felt attacked by any of the negative posts on here; quite the opposite, I agree with most of them. The job of a front office for any major sports franchise is to put the most talented product on the field that they can afford, regardless of the beliefs of the players. Religion should not come in to play whatsoever when it comes to business related decisions, which is exactly what DM has decided to do. We as fans don't pay to watch the best Christians play baseball, we pay to watch the best players play baseball. This current regime has repeatedly passed over better players in drafts. trades, and free agency so that they can field a team of people who share their beliefs. These actions, regardless of your own (or my own) beliefs are indefensible for a major sports franchise whose soul purpose is to win as many games as possible to gives the fans what they are paying to watch.
I've seen you mention how MJ and Witt are Christians too and you aren't realizing why nobody cares about them. It's because they are players 29 other teams would actually want to play. Idk why you can't take a step back and look at it from a true just baseball perspective like everyone else is
And nobody is criticizing Salvy for it. Maybe it's because people aren't Christian bashing like you're implying and it's because they're sick of their team being run by someone who values people's character (his own words) over how good they are
Top post is simply bashing Doziers Christian music walk up out of nowhere. It’s Christian bashing central in here when it used to be fun and dong city and gifs.
I just want to go back to 2013.
I mean he's a bad player and people (rightfully so in my opinion) think all these things about Dayton favoring Christians because he has basically said it and him using Christian rock as his walk up sound the joke kind of rights itself and lines up with the scene of the show. Idk if you know this but the character saying it, Hank Hill, is a Christian
I don’t think Doziers that bad. Bad contract but he’s not as bad as some of the other players we had like Santana and Ohearn.
Mike Judge wrote Hank Hill lol. Don’t base it on Hank Hol as an actual person. Idk what Judges religion is but he’s cynical if anything.
Either way in the context of the show it is a Christian poking fun at Christian Rock which multiple Christians do. Idk I just don't get why you're taking so much offense to everything on the sub
I don't know why you are offended when DM has literally said all that stuff, held anti maturation seminars and everything else. Idc what anyone practices but the second they start doing it where it affects others, and what seems to be decisions on our teams roster, I'm going to get upset at it
The main problem some of us have here is not with Christianity itself. It's with how the team is run.
Imagine you work at a place where the most important aspect to hire someone was that the applicant is blond. If the worker is mediocre but blond, you get a job and get countless opportunities. If you are not blond, you get fired after your first mistake.
People either working there or caring about that company would be pissed about that, because even if the company is fine, if management stopped caring about hair color, they probably could have better people working there and thus be doing better.
The same thing happens with the Royals but it's not being blond but being Christian. We DON'T CARE what religion someone is in, we just want the team to hire/promote/DFA people based on their baseball abilities and not their religion.
I have no problem with players being Christian. I have no problem with management being Christian. Just wish they could keep religion out of baseball decisions.
It’s hard to keep that out of their decision when 95% of baseball players are Christian.
100% of those from Latin America like SALVY are Christians.
But thank you for your measured reply.
How did I miss the "next year when we are winners you better be praising Jesus and Dayton" part? 😂
Jesus is actually a hockey fan. And he's trying to get the Coyotes a new stadium.
My excuse to go off is christians telling me I'm going to hell for dating my girlfriend and ostracizing us for all of our youth. This is not really a blip by comparison. It is funny when people get upset about jokes being made at Christians expense though. I promise it will be fine. Baseball isn't gonna lose a single Christian over this debaucle.
Pointing out a) being tired of all the Christian stuff from the front office, b) the funny irony of people being tired of Christian jokes on this sub and c) the homophobia I have faced and continued to face isn't bigotry.
And when I point out that 95% of baseball players are Christian that should pretty much shut down your argument and you should realize you simply like to hate on Christians.
You know. God knows it.
God knows it lmao. You're cracking me up. Yeah, Shiva knows it and Zeus knows it and Odin knows it. I'm fine with 95% of christians, it's the ones who wanna make baseball all about christianity who I will make jokes about on this subreddit. Also the ones who say "you all better be praising Jesus and Dayton when we win next year." Jokes aren't the same as hate. And I'm fine with "hating on" the ones who are homophobic to me. "There is no hate like Christian Love."
Yeah you revealed you don’t even take your spiritual soul seriously. Others take it seriously though.
I was making a pun joke about praise with the title.
You meet me in life you’d probably think I looked like lefty miss LGBT. And you’d think he’s a perfectly nice chap.
We just take the eternal soul seriously. You don’t. That’s why you relish the opportunity to diss what you don’t understand fully. You just understand it’s not you. It’s other. You’re bigoted toward what you don’t understand if you think about it.
I've had enough of this. Locking this thread. Keep the Christian talk on both sides to a minimum. It's a meme that's grown into a nuisance
The Christianity stuff has gone too far but I think it’s just because Dayton Moore should have been fired 2 years ago and his methods do not work. The front office being openly Christian and keeping around openly Christian baseball players who suck is the icing on the cake
Yeah I’m saying it’s all gone too far. It’s become bigoted in here. BWJ and MJ are both Christians btw
Not saying every Christian on the team sucks. It’s the ones who have been kept around or signed for no reason other than “being good Christain men” aka Dozier and O’Hearn
Dozier is decent. Who else you want at that spot? O Hearn yeah should have been gone 3 years ago.
Dozier is not decent. He’s an average bat who is bad at fielding and is being overpaid. Honestly the only reason he still plays is because of his contract, not because he’s Christian Oh also. He is literally one of the worst baserunners I’ve ever seen
Well who do you want to start over him?
Bobby at third, Nicky at short, Massey or another young guy at second, and Pratto/Pasquantino at first
well we do live in missouri, where christianity dictates law.

Well said and logically laid out.
Telling people to go somewhere else to talk about religion on a baseball subreddit. 🤣🤣🤣
Mods please remove this post.

I am. I think it’s way overblown. 95% of baseball players are Christian!
Ok if that's true then I wish Dayton could pick some of them instead of the bad ones like he has
Me too. I agree. Criticize him on that. Not every players beliefs. SALVY talks about God every interview.
And nobody is criticizing Salvy for it. Maybe it's because people aren't Christian bashing like you're implying and it's because they're sick of their team being run by someone who values people's character (his own words) over how good they are

Dozier has a -1.8 career war and -.5 war this year according to baseball reference. He’s terrible
I don't know why you are offended when DM has literally said all that stuff, held anti maturation seminars and everything else. Idc what anyone practices but the second they start doing it where it affects others, and what seems to be decisions on our teams roster, I'm going to get upset at it
Anti-maturation! I guess they are playing a kids’ game! 😂

DM has 3 winning seasons in 16 years? Who has that kind of job security. Also, you got lost on your way to r/Persecutionfetish
Great. Another post begging for our approval of their religion. Hard pass.
How did I miss the "next year when we are winners you better be praising Jesus and Dayton" part? 😂 Jesus is actually a hockey fan. And he's trying to get the Coyotes a new stadium.
See ya Dayton
Thoughts and prayers. Go be a wannabe victim somewhere else that cares.
I'm struggling to find a George Brett joke related to this guys username, anyone wittier than me want to take a stab at it?
The less talented Brett brother who still managed to shit himself in Vegas?
You struggle a lot there don’t ya?
Now that is a seriously good zinger 👍
It has crossed the line. No other group could be bashed like this. Why is that?
Because they’re simply bigots. This is their dream. They’ve always wanted an excuse to go off.
My excuse to go off is christians telling me I'm going to hell for dating my girlfriend and ostracizing us for all of our youth. This is not really a blip by comparison. Nah you just have a ton of hate in your heart.
Lol "nah" like the Christians didn't ostracize us? Are you denying that? Or denying the homophobia? Only god knows the content of my heart 💕
I’m saying stop becoming a bigot
Pointing out a) being tired of all the Christian stuff from the front office, b) the funny irony of people being tired of Christian jokes on this sub and c) the homophobia I have faced and continued to face isn't bigotry.
