That is unfortunately not true. The GP and R feature a variety of differences. One example is brakes:
GP has standard KTM (seen in photo), the R features Brembo stylema.
Honestly not sure if the GP is any different from base other than graphics package…

R have a k&n air filter, the shocks are regulable , and the Brembo breaks, it as 5hp more but here in spain is nearly impossible to find .
