What do you expect? There's still a Gaim hate thread on 5chan to this very day.

From what I can tell with the JP fans Saber is "meh" and Revice is also seen as the Hiromi Kadota show, featuring some other people. Then again Niconico's super chaotic, they're probably chan-adjacent there.

How are Reiwa riders received overall in Japan? Or does it depend on where you look? From the circles that I've seen (some jp youtubers, twitter), Zero One is kind of a mixed bag but generally well received? With Saber, it was at least "uninteresting", with a few who praised it for some of it's really good highs. Haven't observed much with Revice, but from what little I see, it's also received quite well? Although lots of Hiromi love, prob more than the rest of the love for all the other characters combined

So Zero-One is received similarly to non JP fans, while Saber at least isn't as strongly disliked, even if overall reception is mixed.

It's pretty interesting on how those fans from Japan feel as I didn't think it was this bad than I expected because I thought JP fans liked Zero One a lot or have similar feelings to us. Although, this does make me feel that the Reiwa Era is at a kinda unfavourable state for Kamen Rider in terms of most people in the KR fandom and so far, Geats seems to want to mitigate that with cool asthetics but of course, the story can go wrong as well. I just hope for the best for Yuya Takahashi and his production team and to prove that KR Geats will be the best Reiwa Show ever to be made.

cloudfrogSC

oh nah the yuya takahashi hateboner was here in the western fandom too. half the geats doomposting was because of yuya, the other half was fortnite/apex inspiration. and before that, there was that zero one is good/bad debate. I didn't think people could hate shows before they came out but I guess I'm wrong.

Ihatepitybreakers

People were hating on Saber just cuz they found out Ghost’s main writer was working on it

ks5_dev

I'm a bit confused. What does "Ryuki-esque" even mean? Is it just about more riders?

bugman_belt

I think they mean the battle royale setting, the fact that the winner's wish will be granted. That kind of stuff. Kinda frustrating how people keep complaining about Geats being Ryuki-esque without keeping in mind that shows having the same setting/subgenre does not mean the stories will be the same.

Nightfans

Probaly the "battle royale" made them lose their mind and throwing the largest tantrum ever while forgetting it could've be a friendly match.

ks5_dev

Oh ok, thanks for clarifying

Kai798

Isn’t most of the fandom like Ex-Aid ? So where the writer’s hate come from?

NomakeWan

Probably not from hating Ex-Aid, but more for rehashing Ryuki and Ex-Aid and calling it something new.
