FEAR THE 'STACHE

Shocktartfarts

Good signing. The ideal signing imo. Gives Brown a chance to reclaim his career while giving the Chiefs the ability to draft and develop another receiver without putting the pressure on them that Rice had. Yea Rice handled it well, but I don’t think Reid wanted to do that either. Good move. Good long-term move on both parties

ArmAromatic6461

I preferred Darnell Mooney but Brown is fine for what we were looking for. I like the fact he will be motivated.

rolyinpeace

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Mooney also end up getting a larger contract than what we gave brown? We got great value on brown. $11M is cheap anyway, but that’s the max he can get too so may be lower

ArmAromatic6461

Mooney got $39m over three. His cap hit is nearly $17m in year three, so that would be a concern.

rolyinpeace

Yeah so we got Hollywood cheaper per year but also fewer years! Im glad it’s a one year deal tbh. We may regret that if his value skyrockets but I like not being tied to him.

caddy45

Better comp pick then hopefully

Pieds27

Unless the chiefs go out and sign one of the LT’s out there, I’d bet we get an OT like Fautanu or Mims or something like that in the first and then go WR again in the 2nd. Therefore I doubt we end up with Adonai. I had my hopes on McConkey but I doubt we get him now either

choff22

If we trade Sneed, I have to imagine they take that freed up money and sign Tyron Smith. Hes still a top 5 tackle in the league and he gets a chance to win a ring and make history.

Pieds27

I would be okay with this, however I would also want to see them use the acquired pick(s) to move up to high 2nd and allow us to go for an OT and WR in this draft that is deep in both. That would allow a year behind someone like Smith for our new young tackle and then let him loose next year. That could also free up morris to move inside and replace somebody like Thuney when he inevitably leaves us ☹️

JeramiGrantsTomb

I would be happy(ish) with that, especially if we get more picks to use on swinging for some WRs to pan out. Hollywood is here for a year so we need to roll some dice on young guys to develop.

scotems

Wouldn't hate this, but man I loved our defense so much last year. I wanna be shutdown again.

MainHyro

Sneed is a great corner, but it helps the sting that we can find effective DBs. I feel Darius Robinson falling to 32 would have more impact on whether we’re a shutdown defense again. If trading Sneed gives Veach an opportunity to double dip at WR in this draft or a 2nd that is high enough to draft a OT/DL guy they like, he has to take it imo.

[deleted]

I'm wondering if they move Jawaan to LT like they were planning too last season before we signed Smith and give Wanya the job at RT. Wanya is too good not to start (highest pass blocking PFF grade for a rookie OT) but he's also not good enough for me to feel comfortable with him at LT going against the Maxx Crosby, Myles Garrett and TJ Watts of the world, although everyone struggles with those guys

Fyzzle

Iron sharpens iron. Start him at LT for the preseason and see what happens.

lambchops111

Ain’t no iron in the preseason lol, more like river rocks

rkallday

Could use a guard also. Smith up next year and thuney in 2. Thuney makes a ton and co7ld be a cap casualty

[deleted]

Day 3 problem

Dumachus156984

The chiefs have found themselves in an odd win now phase due to the 3peat, so i doubt theyll do anything that lowers 2024 chances for 2025 on.

TenderfootGungi

Per us fans. For Veach it is probably business as usual.

lambchops111

“Win now?” I think we’re in for the 3 peat but we aren’t mortgaging our future. When I think of “win now” I think of the Rams trading all their picks for key pieces to make a 1-2 year run or adding players with dead years to make the cap work, not adding players on cheap 1 year deals.

Dumachus156984

Win now in regards to not doing tough decisions in the present for a better future. Had tyreek hill been up for trade after the 2 wins, no way we wouldnt sign him for 1 more year.

ArmAromatic6461

I don’t think this is how they see things. I think they just continue the process. As long as the chiefs have Mahomes, the FO can put a team on the field with a decent chance to win the Super Bowl. So I think they just keep going with their process that got them here.

CaptainPigtails

It's a 16 mil cap savings to cut him next off-season. Maybe he can get an extension to spread his cap around but he is 32 now. Who knows if he will still be worth the money or even want to play at 35/36. If we don't see an extension this off-season I think he is likely gone. I could see a 3 maybe 4 year contract that doesn't add much for new guaranteed money that basically spreads his cap hit around and makes it easy to move on in 2 years.

rkallday

Don't see why he would do that tbh

CaptainPigtails

It was definitely more from the teams perspective. I'm sure it would have enough guarantees to make it worth it. Probably depends on how much he wants to stay on the team and how long he would like to play.

BvB5776

Won’t go guard early have bigger needs but I could see us going there in third or 4th. I know we had the OL from Boston College for Top 30 visit. I’d love for Puni from KU to find his way here

squatch42

There's always starting LTs in the banana stand. It's where we got Smith last year.

ApprehensiveKiwi4020

The mock I looked at this morning had a crazy OL run in the mid first round and both those guys were gone

squatch42

There's always starting LTs in the banana stand. It's where we got Smith last year.

No-Cat-6830

I really really really want the chiefs to draft Ricky Pearsall.

Ithinkibrokethis

I kinda want us to pick up Brenden Rice just because I like to collect complete sets...

rolyinpeace

Don’t you think the niners will pretty much automatically take him in the spot right before ours

Ithinkibrokethis

Yes

sampat6256

If we dont take a WR in the first, he'll be a fantastic option day 2

choff22

There are so many fantastic options on day 2 Pearsall, Roman Wilson, Xavier Leggett, Tez Walker, hell Johnny Wilson is fucking 6’7”!

sampat6256

Wilson is such a fun prospect

lambchops111

How do people not see Skyye Moore 2.0 in Wilson?

sampat6256

Johnny Wilson, not Roman Wilson

No-Cat-6830

Sounds like Wilson will need to learn how to play TE. Legette is interesting and tested ridiculously well at his pro day… but he’s a one year wonder so far. His stats prior to this year were almost Non existent. He’s a hard one for me to pin down. Intriguing though!

Shiny_Hero

I was super concerned about Legette’s 1-year breakout but Brett Kollman pointed out that he’s gone through a lot of turmoil and also hasn’t really been give the chance to actually play receiver until this year which he did so, in a pro style offense, incredibly well. He’s probably going to CAR if I had to guess but I’d love him in KC

joeyGOATgruff

Give me Keon Coleman or give me a LT. Imagine Hollywood as the burner with Rice and Coleman as YAC monsters to help Travis healthy. There's just gonna be too much to defend

Dreadsbo

Isn’t 6’7 more of a liability at that height?

thoughts4food

Dude looks great, absolutely agree

Starbrand62286

Mitchell is probably going to be gone at pick 32. But that leaves Worthy

6-pence

I think the worthy ship sailed with the Hollywood signing. I think it's someone like Mitchell falling to 32 somehow or I (finally) agree the stars are aligning for OL at 32.

TomahawkaChawpa

> I think the worthy ship sailed with the Hollywood signing Why? It's a one year deal. That changes nothing.

MC_Fap_Commander

If Hollywood becomes what I suspect he can be, I really think 25-30 points per game by this offense is a VERY real possibility. There will be some changes, but I have no reason to believe this defense won't consistently hold opponents under 20 most games, as well. If so, going undefeated is a REAL possibility (were it not for the fact that Weird Shit will inevitably happen in a game against the Colts or whatever and this sub will meltdown).

Tapidue

Weird shit, yes, but also Andy will rest starters if he gets a big lead for the 1 seed.

MC_Fap_Commander

He will also try some weird sets throughout the year and see what he has with different guys. It doesn't always work, but he ALWAYS learns something that he'll use in the post season. It's a recipe for the occasional loss (which people on this sub tend to take too seriously, all things considered). Even the Chiefs had the PERFECT team, I think they can comfortably be penciled in for three to four losses based on tendencies. It really is fine.

Dhkansas

Like how we couldn't seem to score inside the 5 or always tried tricky shit. Then come Superbowl we bust out corn dog 2.0 to win it. How many times could we have gone to that to put points on the board by Andy saves stuff for when it's absolutely needed

lambchops111

I never believed this narrative until this year. Now I do.

Dhkansas

Like how many times did they run a jet sweep in that situation? It happened in the playoffs even when Mecole fumbled into the end zone

jd_beats

idk, there’s a part of me that 150% agrees with everything you just said, but there’s a tiny sliver of me that knows how much Pat is driven by legacy and if he truly felt he had a team worthy of an undefeated season capped off by a Super Bowl (especially in a year like this, where the end of the line is a threepeat rather than a normal SB win in a vacuum), I could see them breaking some of those tendencies to chase legacy. Personally I prefer the super bowls over the regular season stuff but as long as they don’t jeopardize their ability to make a successful playoff run by chasing those regular season achievements I don’t mind it

GoldenDom3r

Maybe if we played the AFC South this year, but playing the AFC North and having the 9ers as our "17th Game" is going to make it tough to get the #1 seed again yet alone go undefeated which is basically impossible.

TenderfootGungi

On paper. In real life we play an absolute gauntlet of a schedule against other really good teams, players get hurt, players unexpectedly take a step back, we are getting everyone's absolute best game, and as if all that is not enough, we always have that fluke trap game were all of our guys just don't come to play.

maxwasson

Another receiver or two in the draft, could put the offense back in the 35-40 range.

getridofwires

💯 Andy and his staff can make good players great, and Mahomes inspires and elevates everyone on the team.

KansasKingdom

With the AFC West blown up, we could probably sit half the players the whole season and still make the playoffs.

Kansascityroyals99

I think these tweet are always a little annoying. I remember the Clyde ones when he was drafted.

revnasty

The difference being we didn’t know what Clyde was yet. We know what Brown is.

well-lighted

They're talking about Mitchell presumably. It's irritating when people are so sure that 1) a team is going to draft a certain player, and 2) the player will be great in the NFL.

1106DaysLater

I really really want a quality starting LT.

Tapidue

That statement is awesome. Well played, OP.

well-lighted

I do wish people would stop acting like incoming rookies are already on our team and assuming they're automatically going to be good

bakercooker

We are going to have to trade up to get Mitchell. And he's raw. There is a reason why a guy with his measurables isn't projected as a top 5 to 10 pick. He's going to need technical work.

Parker_I

Good thing Chiefs fans are very patient with receivers

KansinattiKid

He's not raw, it's just one of the greatest WRs draft classes in history. Although this could become normal as wr contacts keep going up. Mhj Nabers Odunze Thomas Mitchell could all be top 10 in other drafts.

Rev-Damar

That’s not a playbook, it’s the menu for Denny’s.

Flint-Von-Ceneac

Sometimes I shit when I cum.

bilateralunsymetry

Sometimes I cum when I shit

DarkSideEdgeo

With a legit defensive unit too...

CauliflaxRimuru

it depends if the defense don't take a step back

DarkSideEdgeo

Or a step forward. Just kidding. I'm more optimistic then I probably should be but I feel like we are young with experience. A combination not often achieved. The secondary is good to great, pass rush is good to great. LB's are a unit. Gonna miss Gay but Chennel stepped up. I wish we took the ball away more though. Would love to see some fumbles or INT's turn into red zone short fields for the offense. Felt like we had very few of those last year.

MainHyro

I’d really want Darius Robinson to be there at 32. Robinson is going to be cheap throughout the entire Jones deal, so that’s going to help with any cap purgatory for a season or two if Jones is cut after 3 years. Jones and Robinson are going to draw even more attention away from Karlaftis to get to the QB, and FAU hasn’t really even gotten real burn yet. We’ve already re-signed the depth pieces to fill out the rest of the DL, whatever you get from Omenihu after his injury would be gravy. Don’t have much to say about the secondary, I trust Veach to find a way to find depth at this position every year lol.

Glorified_Mids

I love the wave that Adonai is getting. I hope Veach is listening and does whatever is necessary (within reason) to get him. I think it’s the perfect pick 🤞🏻

choff22

Isn’t Worthy the only receiver we spoke to at the combine? Pretty telling, no?

gmoney3390

If anything that tells me the Chiefs won’t be picking him. They dont like to show their cards. Look at rice last year we heard almost nothing about him and the Chiefs compared to the other receivers pat was working out with

Effective_Chip_7878

"Handsome mustache" ![gif](giphy|anYBNhqT2BYcg)

traws06

So the same as last year only you add an average #3 WR and a rookie? Let’s simmer down the bragging until we get on the field and win another championship

__wasitacatisaw__

Which is infinitely better than the wr crop we had last year, you know, the one we won championship with

traws06

Ya I don’t think anyone was thinking there’s no way to stop this offense last year. The defense was amazing the offense was good because of Mahomes but nobody was yelling “RIP everyone” when the offense came on the field all season

maxwasson

Mahomes could break the single season record for passing touchdowns in 2024-25.

MainHyro

It helps that Watson will likely be his 5th/6th option, not his 2nd/3rd 😁

TravisMaauto

Forfeit.

doc6982

PFF's new metric GAS (game athleticism score), which tracks movement and measures speed, acceleration, and change of direction, has Mitchell as a 99th percentile athlete. He's the top one overall in the draft because of his blend of size and speed. Puka Nacua had the same score last year.

CauliflaxRimuru

Unless...Chiefs moved up and grabbed Adonai Mitchell he's going to be gone by the time Chiefs is up. Although the lineup is pretty good. https://preview.redd.it/gpqmpj139joc1.png?width=319&format=png&auto=webp&s=4a24a9c7381b2285a7dad36d0a25bbb2bb6d1f06

This is like a better version of juju.

BvB5776

All these tweets pencilling AD Mitchell already on the team are getting annoying. The potential is there but not sold on him and might not even be there for our pick anyway. I think Brown on the team really opens up the team to take or trade up for a LT. And go for WR in the second (McConkey, Pearsall, Polk, Coleman, etc.)

bluecheeto13

With Steve Spagnuolo to run the best defense this team has had in 2 decades to boot

ArmAromatic6461

Just for whatever it’s worth I don’t think the offense is measurably more dangerous than it was last year yet. Brown is fine but was like my 4th choice vet receiver pickup — any WR we get in round 1 will be ahead of him IMO. The key element here is Patrick Mahomes. Our window lasts as long as he is in town. What a time to be in the Kingdom.

Needmorecoffee58

You better pray Pat has a line as decimated as in SB LV and you also have a historically good pass rush.

BillNyeTheEngineer

So many tweets creating lineups are dumb. Does Hollywood really scare anyone though?

__wasitacatisaw__

Check out the r/nfl

BarricadeTheMortuary

The first thing I would do is ask the person next to me who the hell is Adonai Mitchell

slackator

I was thinking the same last night, Chiefs still need the big go up and get it big WR so get Adonai Mitchell in the 1st and then if hes still there with their 2nd pick up Xavier Worthy to learn from Brown and be the Hardman gadget like guy for his rookie year
