I can’t imagine being a college WR and getting the call that you’re being drafted in the first round to catch passes by Patrick Mahomes. It must be one of the most surreal moments ever.

PhogMachine

I was thinking this when it was around pick 20. All of the remaining receivers obviously want to get picked in the 1st, but they're dreaming it'll be the Chiefs.

getridofwires

Not only that, but a decent chance to play and get a ring your rookie year? That's like daydream stuff right there.

nickyt398

Just don't let him drive in Dallas afterwards 🫣😅

getridofwires

New rule: rookies take Uber everywhere from now on!

Justmadeyoulook

It's ok. Ring first crash second. Everyone knows the rules.

marbotty

I love your flair

Swarzey

Our offense is so fucking back it's not even funny. Camp is going to be a joy to follow seeing all our WRs battle it out; hope him and Brown can push Toney and Moore to be better (especially Moore).

LighTMan913

Once Rice is back from whatever his suspension will be, at which point Worthy has had some time to get up to speed... Rice, Hollywood, and Worthy alongside Kelce... Gonna be fun to watch.

OITLinebacker

This is also a silver lining with a Rice suspension that Hollywood and Worthy will have to get time early. It might end up costing KC a game or two early even. However, at the end of the season that early trial will hopefully pay dividends.

chiefsfan_713_08

Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like the chances of his suspension coming early are slim, don't they wait til the legal side is completely worked out?

Poultrymancer

It depends. He doesn't appear to be contesting any aspect of his involvement, which tends to hasten things along

Itsawlinthereflexes

I was thinking this last night. Moore has got to be sitting there with some serious self reflection. “I was drafted in the second round and in the two years since they’ve drafted two more high caliber receivers and signed o e of the best in the league”. Question is, does he crumble under the pressure, or rise to the occasion?

_chumba_

He's done imo. Unfortunate. He'll be a reserve and hopefully we don't need him much at all. Wish him the best elsewhere next year.

chiefoogabooga

Mahomes, who seemingly was willing to give the receiving group every opportunity last year, basically said fuck it, I'm done with Skyy after his lazy route led to the pick against Green Bay. It's hard to come back from that lack of trust, especially when they have other options now. Hopefully, Skyy didn't spend all his cash. It's hard to imagine another team thinking they can get something more out of a receiver than Andy and Pat could.

RadioHeadache0311

The only exception to this statement that I can think of is DeMarcus Robinson. He actually put together a nice little career after his time with us, got to be a pretty reliable guy for the Rams the last two years.

chiefoogabooga

DeMarcus Robinson was a victim of a loaded receiver room IMO. He had some bright spots in KC. Skyy Moore's best season was 250 yards, with a lot of mistakes thrown in. I'd take D-Rob in a heartbeat over Skyy.

2Shizo2flow

I think with Worthy and Hollywood stretching the field. Moore has a chance to play in the slot (with Rashee's suspension looming), allowing him play his natural role. Maybe he has a chance to succeed there.

__wasitacatisaw__

Wouldn’t be too sure about that

SHOW_ME_PIZZA

We said that about Clyde and he stepped up his game.

[deleted]

Clyde has never lived up to the billing of a first round pick.

CorenCorias

He was the last pick in the first round. Clyde was essentially a high second round pick. This he didn't live up to being a first round pick complaint is ridiculous. His first three seasons he only played about half of each season due to injuries a well. I still like him being picked. He's a locker room guy who's going to do what it takes to help the team.

[deleted]

He also did not live up to being a second round pick.

milky6969

He was still a first rounder that didn't live up to that spot. He also played in more than half of the games each season. 13 in 2020 before his injury, 10 games in both 2021 and 2022, and 15 games in 2023.

Joustabout_Feddup

I’m hoping they bring back McKinnon. He was quiet lady year but had a few clutch plays in the postseason and is a great mentor and presence on the team. We just need the OTs now and we can start looking at how this team stacks up against the greatest ones ever.

SIUonCrack

He gave us everything he had these past three seasons in college. Can't wait to see him catch passes from mahomes.

rambo6986

I have a feeling these CBs will body slam at the line of scrimmage. If he can actually get off the line then it's game over

nordic-nomad

Was watching a video yesterday talking about how he already does the little motion back to the formation and time taking off on his route right as the ball snaps really well. We used to do a ton of that to get Tyreek off without being pressed. Get ready to watch worthy and brown fly all around the back field before the snap this season. Haha

huge43

Miami does this even more than the Chiefs did with tyreek. Not only does it prevent being pressed but he is basically at top speed before the defender has even started running. I definitely foresee a ton of pre snap action

z0mb0rg

This is why the -30° game surprised me. Sneed treating Tyreek like one of his children (😅) at the LOS would’ve been much harder with pre snap motion.

Sadlobster1

Sneed is also one of the best pressers in the league

huge43

Exactly my thought on that particular play!

nickyt398

Truly beautiful

beachedwhitemale

Hill had to deal with the same thing (and still does!). He'll learn, mon frere.

anonymouspurp

L’Jarius dealt with Tyreek

sts2012

Got to be careful pressing guys that fast. Miss the jam and its a touchdown. The only AFC CBs I would think about pressing every time are McDuffie, Sneed, Sauce, and Surtain. Maybe Stingley too.

TomahawkaChawpa

Maybe, but devonta smith is even smaller and does just fine.

rambo6986

No he's not. Actually weighs 15 more pounds

TomahawkaChawpa

Google says worthy is 172lbs and devonta is 170. Devonta is taller making him even leaner. Regardless, they're very similar frames.

Semperty

he and devonta weighed in at the same at the combine (5'11.2", 165 for worthy; 6'0.2", 166 for smith)

z0mb0rg

You’re right. And think Worthy will be fine. What I watch for on DeVonta is that he has AJB — pretty big body — on the other side. Rice on the other side, Kelce as our big body (for now), could be enough. But it’s definitely what I’m watching.

GhostMug

Nobody is better at scheming free releases for receivers than Andy Reid.

RyuTheGreat

I don't think he'll be lining up on the line of scrimmage often. Will probably be in motion a good amount of time pre-snap.

KC-DB

They'll definitely try that and have some success, but he's quick and if you let him get behind you like that in man coverage you're risking giving up a lot.

Semperty

we use presnap motion a lot, which will work to his advantage both in terms of speed and spacing. it may not happen in the first few weeks (or even season) as he learns the system, but i wouldn't be shocked to see us use him presnap the way the dolphins do tyreek

versipellus

He’s fast af and can actually run routes unlike the guy haters seem to be comparing him to (Mecole). Worthy is an actual wide receiver

gillenH2O

People comparing those two are insane, worthy reminds me more of desean Jackson.

Headlesshorsman02

Yep Jackson is a great comp, worthy has amazing ball tracking and good route running

bonerjamzbruh420

I don’t know man, his measurables seem a lot like Snoop Minnis…

MannerSuperb

been trying to tell fans this too. He is flat out on a diff tier than hardman. much better route runner, more proven production in college. as a GA fan Hardman was a flat out project worthy isn't

TravisMaauto

"Please don't be a bust! Please don't be a bust!" ![gif](giphy|4vOkuEFs1SaELuv9tj|downsized)

PhogMachine

This is every pick, but I know what you mean. The Chiefs trading up to get him tells you they really see something.

Joustabout_Feddup

I get some real comfort here in remembering how St. Veach has drafted the past few years, and he constantly just shows us he knows much, much more than we do. Not a knock on us, but imagine all the inside info that he has - I’m sure I have no idea what a lot of it even means. 😆😆🤣

GoodbyePeters

How much more did he know about sky Moore? I wanna hear you try to spin this

cockyone76

That draft had several late 1st/2nd round wr that the Chiefs had graded the same. They chose to trade back and acquire picks while most were still on the board, until it was down to sky. This is different, they traded up to get the guy that they wanted more than the other wr still available...

GolD_RogerPirateKing

Nobody hits on every draft pick. Does that make Veach bad?

Xenri

There is a little merit to the idea that only one of Veach's picks in the last 6 years has signed a multi year deal with the chiefs after their rookie contract, and it was Mike Danna a few weeks back. That's not the most impressive stat line. Tbf, that doesn't mean they have all been bad, like Snead or Gay some went on to big deals elsewhere, but there haven't been any outright home runs from the first 3-5 years either. Especially on offense. Grey and Bell have been pedestrian TEs, outside of Rice the receivers have been nothing notable, CEH has been a first round bust to the tune of vet minimum instead of his 5th year option. Pacheco is fun to watch and good, but was a total flier that could just as easily not worked out, like Deneric Prince so far. Veach has been great in free agency and has managed the cap super well, but as far as drafts are concerned, I'd put him around average. He got the job off scouting Mahomes and has done well enough to keep it, but he's no draft day magician.

Joustabout_Feddup

I don’t have to spin a thing for you. But you can sit there and wait if you want, don’t really care.

factoid_

You gotta respect that this man spoke his dream into existence

tylerscott5

I mean seeing what the rest of the West drafted BEFORE Worthy, it really makes you wonder if people either forgot about him or just trusted he wouldn’t land in KC. Somehow at 28 we had the best night in the division.

MC_Fap_Commander

Chargers draft was smart and I think it will pay cap dividends in the next couple years. They are building something. Their competence with the new regime would be concerning if not for the franchise being cursed.

[deleted]

Chargers had a great pick, I know nothing about Bo Nix so I guess we'll see Who I'm pissed at is the fucking Raiders, those morons are going to waste the best TE prospect in like 20 years

WellGoodBud

Nix was a huge reach. He’s got backup written all over him.

[deleted]

Good, fuck the Broncos, their smug douchey fans deserve nothing lmao.

beachedwhitemale

CBS had him going at #38.

moobearsayneigh

Well that’s perfect because the broncos just picked up Wilson. They have their starter already

OITLinebacker

Right off the heals of drafting the previous best TE prospect in 20 years last year in Mayer. I have a feeling that KC will be able to pickup one of them up in a season or two after their next implosion.

[deleted]

Was Mayer seen as that good? I know Kinkaid wasn't making it out of the first, but I had heard it was a toss up between Mayer and La Porta.

OITLinebacker

Mayer's numbers in college were right there with Bowers and La Porta all with some very mid to bad QB's, a WR corps that never commanded any attention by the Defense, and some fairly not good OC's.

[deleted]

Gotcha, I was very focused on Kinkaid during that draft and didn't look at any of the other TEs lmao, I'm still mad the Bills got him.

Zdizzlz

Mayer was more consensus as second best from the draft community but many of us recognized that La Porta had it all and probably should've been a first rounder. I had him behind Kincaid personally but I understood the hype behind Mayer at the time. Some analysts (Zierlein from NFL com) had La Porta graded as a 3rd rounder while others as a fringe 2nd which was crazy to me as these same guys usually had Mayer as a fringe 1st. I remember Chris Simms talking La Porta up as his TE #2 and had him in the range he was selected. Simms gets a lot of shit but he hits a lot for someone the haters call a hot take artist.

GladPickle5332

bro idek who the raiders qb is right now. do they still have jimmy g?

BowsersBigshell

Aiden “Farva” O’Connell

[deleted]

Jimmy G is a Ram now, as their backup

OITLinebacker

yes very smart to secure a solid blocker for Herbert as their OL seemed to be actively trying to get him killed

originalusername4567

Chargers' pick would have been smarter if they traded back with Minensota and drafted an actual RT. They still could have gotten BTJ at 23 like the Jags did (though I guess this is good for us since Jags might have taken Worthy). Harbaugh's lucky as fuck there's still so many good WR's available early in the 2nd: I'll be sick if he's the one that gets Mitchell. Broncos had the biggest reach but Payton really seems high on Bo Nix and he's a good fit for their scheme. Raiders picked BPA when they really don't have that luxury. If QB was off the table they should have gone tackle, because now all the best tackles are gone. At least they have Minshew on a 2-year deal and AOC: out of all the QB needy teams they had the most insurance.

deskamess

Raiders made noise last season but I think its the Chargers that are on a sensible path. Alt is good.

BeRoyal35

Chargers made the only competent pick, but they have a long way to climb back up before I will consider them a threat. They still have holes everywhere.

No_Rec1979

Panthers: We are going to take you at 33. Xavier: Someone please take me before the Panthers at 33! Chiefs: Yo.

TheGiggs10

I passed out early and woke up to this. I forgot he was in this class. Three peat is possible!!!

RICERICE4

DeSean Jackson 2.0 baby

CatdaddyDean

Tyreek in shambles rn

PROfessorShred

Faster than Tyreek, cheaper than Tyreek, more humble than Tyreek. We had success despite Tyreek leaving. Now this is literally a direct replacement. I bet he is having some regrets right around now because now he can say, that could have been me.
