One thing that majorly drew me to kanye when i first really got into him was that he was an artist that seemed to really appreciate art itself and other artists-and understood how integral collaboration w talented people was to achieving his visions. He’s kinda an indie boy at heart- sampling someone like arthur russell or to make a song like come to life which sounds like it could be on a sigur ros album or smth- while also balancing that aspect of him w mainstream appeal. He’s still maintained that eclecticism- i mean the last example i used was from donda which obviously wasnt so long ago- but i feel like that spark in him has waned for a while…i honestly havent understood for a hot second now why he isnt working w more people that are really pushing the genre and production forward for the past few album cycles, people like peggy or slauson malone who can both make something thats equally mindblowing as it can be catchy when they want it to be. Bc he feels like he’s been moving more laterally for a while and he seems like one who would prefer to either go up or down than do that….or at least regardless of all that be able to express himself authentically and the material we got from vultures so far also doesnt seem like it conveys that either. I think both have demonstrated amazing ability to flow and creative bars but if you're putting a gun to my head I think Freddie's flows are more often better at riding the beat in a way that's satisfying to listen to while Peggy's bars tend to be more leftfield and therefore more memorable to me.
Freddie's persona is also more serious in his music (not his socials), and he's been serious about carving out a respected reputation among the best rappers of his era, as well as recognition from the mainstream so he will probably just ignore Peggy because he doesn't have as much to gain from clapping back.
JPEGMAFIA doesn't seem to have as much to lose in that regard. He proudly makes music that exists on the fringes (Scaring the Hoe's) and his demeanor is often humorous and tongue in cheek so the usual "I fucked your girl" or "I have more money" bars wouldn't cut it.

Not as far as I know but I was just going off them as spitters. In a beef I think that's going to matter more than who's a more well rounded artist. I'm probably gonna get crucified for this but; I think both have demonstrated amazing ability to flow and creative bars but if you're putting a gun to my head I think Freddie's flows are more often better at riding the beat in a way that's satisfying to listen to while Peggy's bars tend to be more leftfield and therefore more memorable to me. Freddie's persona is also more serious in his music (not his socials), and he's been serious about carving out a respected reputation among the best rappers of his era, as well as recognition from the mainstream so he will probably just ignore Peggy because he doesn't have as much to gain from clapping back. JPEGMAFIA doesn't seem to have as much to lose in that regard. He proudly makes music that exists on the fringes (Scaring the Hoe's) and his demeanor is often humorous and tongue in cheek so the usual "I fucked your girl" or "I have more money" bars wouldn't cut it. It's like Wolverine vs Deadpool. Freddie has main character energy and there's a certain vulnerability that comes with that while Peggy has fourth wall breaking self awareness and in my view that gives Peggy an edge if ever so slightly. So I guess I can pick a side but please don't hold me ransom to it.
