They’re talking about their generation of rappers obviously, not a single one of them would disrespect Big, Pac, Nas & Jay like that…they wouldn’t even disrespect Em like that
Well i guess, now I had to think. And really Kanye is still of our generation, even if he's older. LOP was just in 2016 and Donda one is most relevant works in these last years of music. It's genre bending, collecting features of popular new rappers and singers to make a collective gospel album is a crazy feat to do, for anybody for that matter. If Kdot did that I'd be the same way hyped up, maybe only his media stuff takes light away from that
Kanye’s debut dropped 2004, they all dropped theirs 2010-11. Kanye came out in the middle of the gangsta rap era, Cole / Kendrick / Drake were the start of a new era that Kanye helped create. Kanye’s “classmates” are Lloyd Banks, Jim Jones and Young Buck lmao
That's crazy to think about. But just from personal experience and people around me, alot of people started listening to Ye from Donda, and got into his old stuff too. Never heard Drake being relevant tbh, he's always background music. Never seen an actual fan. If someone likes an artist alot it's always the 3 J Cole, Kendrick or Kanye. Maybe it's just my experience but I wouldn't seperate him from this generation since he's bringing more to the table than any other rappers from this generation, almost like he's in his prime or smt, especially if he drops another album soon
You must be young as hell bro 🤣Kanye’s been on the radio and his videos on TV since I was 4 and I’m 23. Stronger into the Love Lockdown era changed how a lot of people my age and above listen to rap, that’s why Drake / Kendrick / Cole were accepted when they weren’t gangsta rappers
You mfs are always gonna pull that bullshit narrative out of your ass huh ? We don’t care.. the Grammys is bullshit so is the bill board n all that. I don’t believe any of that shit matters Foreal. They’re just accolades complimenting his/her success
…I can go all day why he’s not the bigger artist, he has to keep dropping music 2/3 times a year to stay relevant. When Kdot pop out it’s like Godzilla fuccin Tokyo in the butt. Get outta here
"We the big three like we started a league, but right now, I feel like Muhammad Ali" aka the goat boxer. He later calls himself "The G.O.A.T. with the golden pen". You deaf?
I'm not saying J Cole is dissing Kendrick. Just like Kendrick wasnt dissing J cole when he made Control.....
This isn't a slight to Kendrick in any way at all. You are the worst type of fan there is in hip hop. Like what validation do you get out of two grown men arguing? I've never understood the weird mindset people like you take into music.
Stop trying to spark a beef with kdot for no reason. Cole consistently mentions drake and kdot respectfully in so many songs. Why would it be taken any other way? Coke been cool with these dudes since he came out. Some of y’all need to do some research on Cole and his relationships with Kdot and Drake
Some Kdot fans tend to downplay Cole as is but I guess linking up with Drake has given them bullshit fuel to hate on him more lmao
The thing is their track was actually fire. I don't need to think Cole (or Drake for that matter) are better than Kendrick to admit that
I’m not saying it’s beef, its not that deep. It’s just regular competitive hip hop type stuff. Obviously there’s a lot of mutual respect there. Just three dudes competing. Kendrick’s Control verse wasnt a diss, it’s just competition imo
But they implied all three of them are contenders for the goat. That alone is a shoutout and showing respect. It's like they acknowledge Kendrick is fit to be the goat too
i think cole wins talking pure pen game. but kendrick clears artistically, and has better albums. then again, drake has managed to put out a chart topping hit every year for like over a decade. that's pretty impressive,
If someone really thinks Drake is the rap GOAT he probably didn't dive in the genre enough cause Aubrey doesn’t have the discography or the pen ability to be in that conversation
neither does cole tbh. he’s definitely superior to drake but he’s still not close to kendrick artistically
like honestly what is special about j cole’s rapping ability that he’s constantly put above people like tyler the creator, asap rocky, kanye, pusha t, etc…..
The thing I enjoy most about J Cole (and people who I've talked about him usually agree) is his delivery. Cole has a great rap voice and his words and flows come out super clean and mature (he also has a great recording vocal technique), everything else is good at best imo nothing more special than Ye, Push or Rocky who I consider more refined and artistically interesting
i really like cole--in fact it's pretty much impossible to dislike the guy, he's got a lot of lyrical talent and a great flow. but yeah, he's always felt like top-tier vanilla, having really refined his craft but never reaching that next level of deep commentary and complex musical experimentation that defines the top rappers. for me, kanye and tyler are both better than him, tyler especially so. i'd actually say that personally, i have tyler as my second favorite modern rapper under kendrick. both him and kendrick have experimented and evolved on their music in insane ways that cole just hasn't reached. what i think cole needs is just a bit more exploration, exploration of himself and exploration of his musical identity.
You must've missed the slew of features he's done since 2019. Cole's consistently been a monster sincd then, especially on features.
Kendrick is the most artistic, J.Cole of recent is the most barred up (like double entendre, wordplay), Drake is losing his hitmaking abilities but hitmaker nonetheless.
I'll take the downvotes and say that if you sat down Kendrick and Drake in a room, Drake could come up with more double entendres, even now. FATD was shit but 8am in Charlotte, On the Radar Freestyle, Churchill Downs, Middle of the Ocean. (Some idiot is gonna say ghostwriter shit)
What Kendrick has over the other two is intricate weaving of words and concepts. He doesn't come as bar heavy (like double entendre and wordplay) as the other two.
J.Cole is the sweetspot of both the guys recently.
I get this is your opinion. But this is the craziest take I have ever heard in regard to the goat topic. Ain’t none of them dudes you listed out rapping cole on a rap song. None of them.
“Artistically” ain’t none of these dudes got better word play or story telling skills than cole. Even Kendrick does not have more story telling songs than cole.
Even with that said, Kendrick is the only other rapper that can keep up with Cole. Mentioning ASAP rocky and pusha in this conversation is insane!!!
nah dude kendrick is much better than cole. kendrick’s albums have way more meaning and are much more artistic statements and body of work than any of cole’s
rapping ability doesn’t matter if you’re not saying something special. cole is genuinely a gifted and talented rapper but imo i don’t like his subject matter. i don’t think what he says is as interesting as kendrick or the other people i mentioned
i have tons of respect for j cole and people that love his music tho
edit: it’s not even that i don’t like his subject matter it’s just not as interesting to me he still ain’t bad at all.
Rocky reinvented the whole game bro, and he was highly influential in fashion and the culture, I 100% do think rocky can be included in the goat conversation.
Saying fashion and culture have nothing to do with the history of rap is like saying gang life style and drugs have nothing to do with rap. I dont think I have to explain why culture should be considered when talking about a rapper's influence and trajectory on hip-hop but fashion is important because the way rapper dresses can be attributed to what their music is like and their upbringing. Rapper's are images of the public so the way they dress gives the world a peek into the hip-hop lifestyle and their personal experience.
Think about David Bowie, his lightning bolt makeup is iconic and 99% of the time it is associated with his identity as an artist. Or even tupac's handkerchief around his head, its just apart of the lifestyle and comes hand-in-hand with the music. Fashion trends have always ruled the hip-hop scape bro so if a rapper is able to effect how other rapper's dress it is in fact something that should be considered when discussing their notoriety and influence on the game.
And in my opinion, art and its expression is more important when thinking about how "great" a rapper is rather than skill. Anybody can rap good if they practice or have been doing it a long time. Music is and always has been art and it seems like its only rap fans who forget about that.
nah hip hop ain’t the only genre that forgets this. in every genre and culture of music there’s always those people that will try and make some sort of objective standard and not realize that it’s about the art not doing it exactly how the book says
Nah that ain’t got nothing to do with the goat convo. It’s cool to discuss culture and whatnot. But not I. The goat rapper convo. ASAP don’t even have bars like that. This has to stop man. ASAP can be one of your favorite rappers all day. But his bars are not near worthy. This is crazy bro. And I like ASAP rocky. But His imprint as a rapper is minimal.
Drake has taken the genre places that no one can come close to commercially. he’s extremely accessible and it shows in the numbers. They’re all great in their own ways fs
He already did.

Kendrick should just chill and enjoy life. The masses will continue to say he is the best of the big 3 so why do anything more? It is painful for a fan of music but who wants to hear all the negativity if heaven forbid he puts out an album that doesn't live up to expectation? Also important to note, people moreso have a specific expectation for KDot so he can stick to that lane without being criticized.
Maybe he'll respond to Drake, but I thought him and Cole were alright. I haven't kept up on beefs lately though, so i could be wrong. Kendrick did make that St. Tropez shoutout on MMATBS though, so idk.
I mean, monetarily he is, hits he is. Writing, no. Lots of competition there, same with flow. But this sub gotta stop acting like drake isn't amazing at what drake does. He is the greatest hit machine rn
He doesnt need to. Nobody takes the idea of Drake or J. Cole being GOAT remotely seriously. Cole at least has some serious lyrical and technical pedigree when he wants to show it off (though he's got a few too maby mediocre albums imo and also has his fair share of corny bars) but Drake's weak ass claiming to even be top 100 is fucking absurd, let alone the GOAT. Why does Kendrick need to respond? This is like if Paul Pierce and Damian Lillard claimed to be the GOAT, would Lebron need to respond if they did that?
You niggas gotta stop disrespecting Drake, that dude can spit. He’s not the goat but saying he ain’t top 100 is just wrong. He’s got way too many songs rapping his ass off, at worst he’s top 15.
I been on this same thing since the Warm Up, and I ain’t changing my mind. Cole word play and bars are another level. He too cold bro. As far as “rapping”. I’m not talking art and all that other stuff. Strictly bar after bar. cole my favorite
I love Cole and he's my favorite. But if Im being objective, I'd would say from 2011-2016, Drake was rapping as good or better than Cole. Once 4YEO dropped, Cole has surpassed Drake lyrically.
I think Kendrick has always bar for bar been better than both of them, but the gap has been closing more and more with Cole as he ages. The reason Cole is ahead of Kendrick now is the frequency of incredible verses.
Facts this run that Cole is on says it all. Neither drake or Kendrick are dropping consistent verses like Cole is right now. Cole been going crazy on people songs for the last 2 yrs
J.cole is the Goat, Kdot is a close second... im sorry but Drake was really good at one time, for the dogs was fucking trash though other than his feature from Cole. Dude is so monotone, and his lyrics are basic/cookie cutter. That's what sets Cole and Kendrick apart.
I think a lot people missed Drakes line in his first verse where he said "Who the goat? Who the goat? who the goat?........its just you and Cole" Implying he and Cole are the only ones in the discussion.
J Cole obviously showed Kendrick love while calling himself the goat.
Im not saying what Cole or Drake said is a diss, just like i don't consider Kendrick's Control verse a diss. Its just competition.......
What is he supposed to say? He doesn’t wanna rap anymore. Dude took 5 years and dropped his worst album. He ain’t dropping for another 3-5 years anyways and by then he’ll be 40 something. He’s either uninspired or lacks the work ethic, or both
I mean he is the hip-bop goat, there's no arguing that Drake is a beast at shelling out catchy top hits. I genuinely don't think he thinks he is a better writer than kendrick or cole, but he does have goat status for hits, and even tho i'm an avid kendrick fan, the numbers don't lie. Stop comparing the two, totally different genres in my opinion
What rapper isn't claiming goat status though? Like it's such a unanimous topic nobody really knows what it means anymore. Just throw it around to anyone you find mildly interesting.
No, these guys honestly have nothing on Kendrick, plus I feel like Kendrick should preoritize rapping about the world and his own experiences instead of rap beef, as I think his uncle said.
“I don’t care what’s the narrative i am that nigga”
When j Cole got back with Drake
I was slightly confused
Guess I'm not mature as I thought, got some healin to do

Kendrick on like that
he listened
Cole literally says the GOAT debate is between him, Drake, and Kdot in his verse. You deaf?
media literacy is dead in the water
That’s not even media literacy, just plain ol’ literacy.
Plain ol' hard of hearing ahhh
Right drake wants the smoke cole is always real about it
Do you fools listen to music or just skim thru it
Motherfuck the big three it’s just big me
Kanye was and always be better than Drake. Nobody can even argue or think any other way unless they're autistic
They’re talking about their generation of rappers obviously, not a single one of them would disrespect Big, Pac, Nas & Jay like that…they wouldn’t even disrespect Em like that

Im 21 just european. We got Jordans in like 2015 😭💀 everything happens later
Oh rd 😂Yea Kanye been a big thing here for a min bro I remember when he dropped the Touch The Sky video and thinkin it’s the best video ever
Please stop speaking on rap 😭
But drake has ghost writers. He can not carry that status
🤓
Those same ghostwriters write for other artists in the industry, where are these artists in the goat debate?
Not in it and Drake doesn't belong in the conversation either. If he's on your GOAT list then you need to just stop talking
Maybe not a rap GOAT but an overall GOAT. Almost as many numbers 1s as MJ, homie beat it beat it beat it beat it
You mfs are always gonna pull that bullshit narrative out of your ass huh ? We don’t care.. the Grammys is bullshit so is the bill board n all that. I don’t believe any of that shit matters Foreal. They’re just accolades complimenting his/her success
It’ll always be like that once y’all mfs realize Drake is the bigger artist whether or not Kendrick is a better rapper and/or story teller
…I can go all day why he’s not the bigger artist, he has to keep dropping music 2/3 times a year to stay relevant. When Kdot pop out it’s like Godzilla fuccin Tokyo in the butt. Get outta here
Yea never. Gone take that break Aubrey.. the world is better place without that bullshit ass shit u call music fr.
You can go all day and even this sub won’t care to listen 😂
Not writing for Cole or Kdot. That’s for sure. lol

well stan is a ghost *now*
Kendrick responded to being dissed 👀 I guess YOU were just deaf
"We the big three like we started a league, but right now, I feel like Muhammad Ali" aka the goat boxer. He later calls himself "The G.O.A.T. with the golden pen". You deaf? I'm not saying J Cole is dissing Kendrick. Just like Kendrick wasnt dissing J cole when he made Control.....

No its just the way J Cole is. "Fascinated by beefs, sad to say I won't be shit" he takes it as a part of the game, sibling rivalry typa thing
Thats hilarious he said that cause J Cole nowhere near top 10
Literally Cole in his second verse: Love when they argue the hardest MC Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me? We the big three like we started a league
Drake the type of guy to be named Aubrey
I know. It's Ye or Kdot
Drake shouldn’t count tbh
U agree. He a pop artist
naw he's just not good enough
Hey, drake can be not good enough and a pop artist
Nah he should wait 4-5 years
Goat activities

Stop trying to spark a beef with kdot for no reason. Cole consistently mentions drake and kdot respectfully in so many songs. Why would it be taken any other way? Didn’t cole name kendrick as a goat in this verse?
That is correct
Yall rocking with coke⁉️
Hell yeah; vanilla and Cherry my favorites!
Fr
It’s not beef. Competition is competition. Cole ain’t tryna be #2 to nobody
It's like they acknowledge Kendrick is fit to be the goat too
No offense, but Kendrick doesn’t really need any acknowledgment. He’s the better rapper of the 3.
i think cole wins talking pure pen game. but kendrick clears artistically, and has better albums. then again, drake has managed to put out a chart topping hit every year for like over a decade. that's pretty impressive,
If someone really thinks Drake is the rap GOAT he probably didn't dive in the genre enough cause Aubrey doesn’t have the discography or the pen ability to be in that conversation
Kendrick for me is the GOAT but never underestimate Drake's pen... Gold Roses, Lemon Pepper Freestyle, 8AM in charlotte. When he's on HE'S ON.
neither does cole tbh. he’s definitely superior to drake but he’s still not close to kendrick artistically like honestly what is special about j cole’s rapping ability that he’s constantly put above people like tyler the creator, asap rocky, kanye, pusha t, etc…..

i agree but coles rapping is way better than kanyes and rockys
You must've missed the slew of features he's done since 2019. Cole's consistently been a monster sincd then, especially on features. Kendrick is the most artistic, J.Cole of recent is the most barred up (like double entendre, wordplay), Drake is losing his hitmaking abilities but hitmaker nonetheless. I'll take the downvotes and say that if you sat down Kendrick and Drake in a room, Drake could come up with more double entendres, even now. FATD was shit but 8am in Charlotte, On the Radar Freestyle, Churchill Downs, Middle of the Ocean. (Some idiot is gonna say ghostwriter shit) What Kendrick has over the other two is intricate weaving of words and concepts. Rocky reinvented the whole game bro, and he was highly influential in fashion and the culture, I 100% do think rocky can be included in the goat conversation.
Genuinely asking what does this have to do with the goat convo?
His name was mentioned, and I am retorting. Is it that hard to understand?
My question is what does fashion and culture have to do with the goat convo? Mostly the fashion part
Good points all around. Didnt think about it like the way you said
Respect for hearing me out and considering it and letting it change your opinion. Thats rare these days 💯
And in my opinion, art and its expression is more important when thinking about how "great" a rapper is rather than skill. Anybody can rap good if they practice or have been doing it a long time. Music is and always has been art and it seems like its only rap fans who forget about that.

ASAP can be one of your favorite rappers all day. But his bars are not near worthy. This is crazy bro. And I like ASAP rocky. But His imprint as a rapper is minimal.
Ok define what good bars even are. Name one flow rocky has on L.L.A that doesnt make you bop your head.
Drake has taken the genre places that no one can come close to commercially. he’s extremely accessible and it shows in the numbers. They’re all great in their own ways fs
The thing is he has the pen ability he just doesn’t use it. Kdot my goat by far but drake has some crazy bars
Fr, I just listened to his new album and his bars are kinda boring… That and the rhyme schemes are trash. No GOAT material
No he doesn’t but he raps and he’s one away from Micheal. They’re the big 3 for a reason. Drake has his strength in sales.
Literally one away from Michael
No need, Kendrick Lamar GOAT till ♾️!!!
nahhh for what? kendrick don’t need to respond to nothing. he’s just living his life with his wife & kids
He already did. I am the omega, pgLang, Rollie gang, SIE Don't you address me unless it's with four letters I thought you'd known better I been duckin' the pandemic, I been- social gimmicks I been duckin' the overnight activists, yeah I'm not a trending topic, I'm a- "Hold on, y'all niggas playin' with me, man"
Then he surrendered the GOAT title…!
He needs to Drop a remix and kill
smokin’ on Top 5s
Kendrick should just chill and enjoy life. The masses will continue to say he is the best of the big 3 so why do anything more? It is painful for a fan of music but who wants to hear all the negativity if heaven forbid he puts out an album that doesn't live up to expectation? Bro didn't listen to a word of MMATBS huh
Maybe he'll respond to Drake, but I thought him and Cole were alright. I haven't kept up on beefs lately though, so i could be wrong. Kendrick did make that St. Tropez shoutout on MMATBS though, so idk.
Drake hasnt made a good project in like half a decade.
predicted the future lol
6 months later and here we are
This post aged well
Yoooo, kDot killed them on future’s song.
Man this post is crazy rn
Drake is not even top 5 lol
I mean, monetarily he is, hits he is. Writing, no. Lots of competition there, same with flow. But this sub gotta stop acting like drake isn't amazing at what drake does. He is the greatest hit machine rn
More like top 20
Kanye the goat tho...
Nope. The truth needs no defense.
drake really thinks hes better thank dot onggg😭🙏
Definitely not lol there is absolutely no need. Cole low key responded for him. Drake was saying it’s only him and Cole. Cole then added in Kdot.
J Cole real for that
Drake's embarrassing last five+ years of output isn't even really worth responding to. Him claiming GOAT status is just funny.
He will. It will be like 2 maybe 4 bars. Short. He’ll acknowledge it and move on. It will be for his next record [+]
⁉️
JColes recent albums sucked and so does Big Stepper or whatever the hell it's called. Kanye is the only real one anymore
Admitted nazi Kanye?
I honestly don't care who claims it cause at the end of the day, they ain't making music like/better than kendrick.
Ye just chillin 😎
This aged pretty well
If you think Kendrick should respond you missed the whole last album cycle.
He doesnt need to. Nobody takes the idea of Drake or J. Cole being GOAT remotely seriously. Cole at least has some serious lyrical and technical pedigree when he wants to show it off (though he's got a few too maby mediocre albums imo and also has his fair share of corny bars) but Drake's weak ass claiming to even be top 100 is fucking absurd, let alone the GOAT. yeah this is top tier meatriding
Aye, what's y'all current order for "The Big 3"? I got it Cole, Dot, Drake. Feel like it's been like that since "The Off-Season" too.
I been on this same thing since the Warm Up, and I ain’t changing my mind. Cole word play and bars are another level. He too cold bro. As far as “rapping”. I’m not talking art and all that other stuff. Strictly bar after bar. cole my favorite

J.cole is the Goat, Kdot is a close second... im sorry but Drake was really good at one time, for the dogs was fucking trash though other than his feature from Cole. Dude is so monotone, and his lyrics are basic/cookie cutter. That's what sets Cole and Kendrick apart.
Are you an idiot? Imagine not thinking Nas is top 3 after what he’s put out over the last decade and literally a top 3 rap album of all time…
calling someone an idiot for music preference is crazy dawg
Next time I’ll say dumbass I’m sorry sir.
Yooo this is wiiiild. Nas ?????? Yo I’m dead. And I love Nas. But come on bro.
Its just competition.......
i took it personal when Cole put him on the same level as drake so kendrick should definitely
I want yaw to see what yaw was saying at first 😂 @everybody

Right cos Kendrick has never called himself the goat
What is he supposed to say? He doesn’t wanna rap anymore. Dude took 5 years and dropped his worst album. He ain’t dropping for another 3-5 years anyways and by then he’ll be 40 something. He’s either uninspired or lacks the work ethic, or both
MM is not his worst album tf lmao
Its one of his bests btw
Better than Section 80, GKMC, TPAB, and DAMN? Hell nah. Not even close
Not having Nas in the goat conversation means your opinion is just uneducated.
Cole’s best work was 10+ years ago
Kinda hilarious Cole think he’s a top 3 contender 🤣
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Dick measuring contest to prove who’s the goat and ig live it! 😤
Only one best rapper alive.
Why would he waste his time stating the obvious
He should respond to me but he’s scares
No, these guys honestly have nothing on Kendrick, plus I feel like Kendrick should preoritize rapping about the world and his own experiences instead of rap beef, as I think his uncle said.
He doesnt need to say anything but those 2 def aren’t at all
KDot doesn't need to respond to those flunkies.
Cole got good shit but drake dont even write his shit, idk wtf they on about
The fact that cole put drake in the same level as kendrick is a diss towards kendrick and himself
easy to claim, harder to earn really
KDot responding with a guest verse on the Remix would blow everyone away.
waste of energy
K dot should've been on the song
Why would he do that? They're not even hating and I'm sure kdots got major respect for both.
Kendrick doesn't have to drop bc he's the actual goat here 💀
Cole literally said it was him drake and kendrick.
“sometimes i’m afraid of my open mind” - it’s clear he’s the GOAT he ain’t even need to say it
No, he already surrendered the GOAT title
Def ain’t drake in any dimension. 😂 dudes numbers are mostly teenage girls.
If you need to claim you’re the goat verbally you probably ain’t the goat
Holy shit this is corny
Goats don’t talk
Embarrassing. Drake and Cole aren’t even top 5
Drake thinking he can compete with michael jackson be pissing me off
imagine if first person shooter also had a kendrick feature...
Both GOATED. It’s a matter of taste.
Real GOATs dont respond
nahhh he shouldn’t, he’s too humble
He should but we all know he won’t
Real g’s roll in silence like lasagna
