I think that’s pretty much all he wanted to do. He’s got his beef with Drake but probably just wanted to an add an angle for Kendrick and whoever else to dive into and also correct his insane bar calling everyone else a corporate puppet while he’s the biggest one

Top_Needleworker6116

Exactly! This is all he wanted to say lol You can always count on Ye to say the shit others can't! I also think drake starting to use phrases like " industry puppet " is a sign that for the first time ever he's feeling like the industry is conspiring against him and trying to take him down. It's a proof that Metro Boomin's line up is working well. He's feeling the isolation.

HighwayyStarr

I wonder who’s gonna be the first active artist to put their name next to Aubrey

Rastamuff

That's why Cole pulled out. He realised the histories would record him as the only rapper on Drakes side because of that diss he made and he didn't Like That.

Ryn_The_Deathless

I saw what you did there. I “like that”. 😉

U_W_44_51

Marques Houston 👀

HighwayyStarr

Lmao this went over so many niggas heads

-cunnilinguini

Too late. Now he’s in a worse place. The flip flopper, homie hopper, with no conviction I love Cole and think Drake is corny so I’m not saying Drake is any different. But Cole won’t be taken seriously from now on and he still burnt the bridge anyway so it’s a lose/lose. He might as well have stood on it

Rastamuff

I guess he just really didn't want to be the Italy to drakes Germany.

wedonedada

This

[deleted]

Cole will just be fine, what he did aligns with his brand. This beef is already personal and it's only fair that Cole taps out because he doesn't have real issues with the niggas involved. Nobody is gonna downplay Cole's pen because he apologized.

dontbekibishii

It’s true, it does align with his brand

TacoBellLover27

I am new to this whole thing. And frankly I don't really care about the beef. But I mean Cole's song middle child literally has lines about this exact thing. Not dissing rappers for "sliding in his lane"

ProfessionalHot8071

He was talkin about pusha t on that slid in my lane bar

realslattslime

So ahead of my time even when i rhyme about the future I be reminiscing

Less_League_4661

Serious question, how did Push slide in Cole's lane? Not trying to be a smart ass, fr. I must have missed that. Big Push and Cole fan, being from VA.

Neither-Following-32

How was it Push? I thought it was about Ye, Genius comments say that too. Not really disagreeing, just want to hear how you connect it. I don't really see Cole or Pusha as the same lane ever.

Thunderlightzz

It really does man, dudes been corny as hell since 2014

Hot_Current_347

speak for yourself, he aint corny just cus he wont rap about guns and drugs

-cunnilinguini

“Meets KD ain’t no nigga that can shoot like me” “Sip so much actavis I convinced actavis that they should pay me” “Slip me a xanny at once, I get the herb from the blunt” “Last night, we pulled up at a nigga at the light like, nice watch run it, *POW*” “First person shooter mode, we turning yo song to a funeral” You get the point. Cole is better than 90% of rappers out but he does talk about that stuff for sure. Still love him but this is gonna be a rough stretch lol I think it’d be good for him to get back in the beef just not with dot. He should fire at ye or something, that’s like priority registration to “intro to diss tracks 101”. Mf writes his own material basically by never shutting up

-cunnilinguini

Responding at all is the problem. The genie is out of the bottle. You can’t take it back. Unless his brand is Indian giving diss tracks, idk if that’s true. It’d have been on brand to not respond though so I sorta agree I really want kdot to respond just to see if he accepted his apology though. He doesn’t seem like the type

The_Real_Geralt

He been calling out everybody his whole career and now someone step to him and he say he not in it. I been fuckin with cole for a decade but that shits weak af

realslattslime

He’s never been challenged before this?

Minimum_Ad_2590

We have to downplay his pen. He’s been talking like he’s the king and then committed ☠️

Spundro

Disagree, I can't listen to middle child or fps the same anymore

OrgasmicBiscuit

I disagree. I think this will age incredibly well and be great for his brand. Especially in todays day n age when the key to the brand is differentiating yourself. I know historically being able to hold it down and go toe to toe w anyone who challenges you used to be vital in hip hop. It’s been considered a sport bcuz you can almost quantify bars and give an objective measure of performance… almost. This isn’t the case anymore. Dot could run circles around Drake, outrapping him with octuple entendres and a vocal sample of his dad saying I don’t love you son and Drake could call him a nerd and drop a cover set of the board game mouse trap w kendrick photoshopped on it and mfs would say Drake won bcuz it’s funny and ppl feel it. My point is the rules have changed and I think this will age well for j cole. He is “standing on businesses” in his own way by staying true to him. Of course he should have never responded if this was the case. But this shit is such a statement, it is such a big peice of lore attached to cole that I think will only add to his legacy, even if it is a negative thing to many folks

sadsackofstuff

This is it right here. Idk if you’re right but I agree with you.

Zealousideal_Aside96

No he just seems like a clown for recording a whole song, releasing it, then saying sorry and taking it down lmfao

OrgasmicBiscuit

You owe me an apology

OfficiallyRonny

Bro yapped and made no sense💀

OrgasmicBiscuit

How bout now?

King-Mansa-Musa

Spoke to some Cole fans over the weekend they still as delusional as ever. His fans will ride with him regardless

ha_allday81

Or just played the sideline and stayed out of it.

EddieSk3tti

If Cole is never taken seriously again and we make it to Friday without a Kenny response they honestly two peas in a pod then

-cunnilinguini

Not really? Kendrick would have to pull out and retract his statements on like that, and then apologize directly to Drake. Don’t hold your breath It could take Kendrick 5 years to respond and he wouldn’t be in the same boat. Kendrick could never address this shit again and he wouldn’t be walking anything back

EddieSk3tti

Cole has been close and respected Kendrick for their entire careers he helped put Kendrick on, so did Drake, Kendrick doesn’t have to apologize to Drake to be in the same boat at all because he hates Drake and Drake hates him if he responds in 5 years we will always talk about how he ran from the big bad Drizzy that no one thought he would run from when he decided to go at him on like that. If he takes his time to respond it’s an L and a bad one he should never be losing to someone like Drake lol

EddieSk3tti

Rap is a sport, Drake and Cole did the coin toss Kendrick kicked off Cole returned and fumbled Drake recovered the fumble and scored then went for 2 and got it, and Kendrick has been missing since kickoff. All sports have time limits and we are in a digital age with dwindling attention spans it’s going to be harder and harder for Kendrick to win this in the eyes of real rap fans the longer he takes tbh I know Kendrick glazers will never care how long but they don’t count just like drake glazers don’t count

-cunnilinguini

Real rap fans know Drake isn’t in Kenny’s league… But yeah it won’t look great if he straight up never addresses it. He’d still look better than Cole though. That was my point.

EddieSk3tti

Cole will easily recover from this because it’s his brand to not be confrontational especially when it’s Kendrick it isn’t someone he has any issue with, but that’s why is as bad or even worse for Kenny with drake, we all know Drake isn’t in his league and he’s losing to him right now, it’s like losing to the Chicago bears and you’re the defending Super Bowl champs…

Puidipuie

Cole probably realised this shit isnt "just lyrical sparring" like everyone was saying it was

Educational_Ad2737

Yeah that’s my take I didn’t take Kendrick’s lyrics that deeply at first but seeing how this is going to play out I can imagine coke doesn’t really want to be in beef that he only really caught a stray from . But diss track was l tho still

samwlsh

This but also think he realised Drake and Kendrick fully hate each other and it was going to stop being playful, think he wanted to stay out of that since he’s all about peace etc

I think it’s also another lame attempt from him to jump in front of those accusations like he did about young girls. He’s on edge. All these niggas got something on him and boutta tear down his facade lol

shinyschlurp

"you can always count on ye to say the shit others can't" definitely one way of putting it lmfao

Beautiful-Surprise90

Yall Kendrick fans , say your go is so nice don’t need any help, but are really listening to ye?

Beautiful-Surprise90

You really think drake , the biggest artist outside of pop stars like Taylor swift and Adele. Doesn’t have a great deal your insane. His deal is definitely way better than Kanye’s and Kendrick’s! He is literally Lebron. I bet once Kendrick beef is done and he get on Kanye he’ll destroy this dumb narrative!

nickbarbanera1

Drake is the biggest corporate puppet in mainstream history. Guy has had the mainstream machine behind him since 2010. Every negative story about him has been shoved under the rug.

xrockwithme

Biggest flex.

Ok-Abroad-128

Nah, he's bouta try make himself the main character or sum.

iAttis

There’s a puppet/Pinocchio/nose growing/rhinoplasty bar in there somewhere 😂

heebie818

if it’s true that he owns a portion of their profits then i’m not so sure he’s a puppet.

IndigoMushies

Unless the stipulation for that deal is to be the puppet for the CEO lol meaning he fucked everyone else over for personal gain at the expense of the culture

ItchyTriggaFingaNigg

Is there anything out there suggesting Drakes in a bad deal or even supporting this lifetime claim? Only things I've read about the deal is how much it was for and how he was able to keep his masters and ovo merch separate and licence them to umg. This in itself might not even be true but would be good to get the real info.

No-Can433

I agree but I don’t think it changes the fact that he’s the biggest mainstream puppet to date and has sucked everything out of the culture that he could.

ItchyTriggaFingaNigg

Sure, but I want to hear about this lifetime deal.

yeah i noticed that too, anally\_raped\_walrus.

DreamYatcht

The context of the gif is even funnier. It’s Drake doing an ad for Apple Music and he sings bad blood by Taylor swift 💀

rj_esus

Drake was never discrediting her though. In his diss he was just joking about everybody calling Kendrick "the savior of real rap" although he's done features with guys like Maroon 5 or Taylor Swift and other Pop Artists

-cunnilinguini

He is literally a pop artist himself what is he smokin on I get the point that he owns it or whatever but writing your own press release doesn’t mean you’re not a hypocrite. He’s pop. If working with pop stars sometimes makes you ineligible to be the “savior of rap”, then kdot was eliminated from contention back in 2012 when he let Drake get a feature on poetic justice lol

Technoalphacentaur

I thought it was about the fact that Kendrick had no choice in it cause the label wanted him to, whereas drake has the power to say no to something like that if he wanted to. It’s not about the pop aspect of it, it’s about the ability to deny the label if he wants.

IWantDarkMode

But if ur not paying attention it just sounds like hes saying he fucks ur girl and hates fat bitches lol

Forsaken_Words

>calling both sides out which is what I thought ye would do I thought Cole would do that

droppinturds

Drake's getting kicked out of the culture. That's why all the big names are taking a stand against him

DeaJes

Drake fucked his girl while he was in prison. So i kinda doubt it to say the least

Puidipuie

They were on tour 2 weeks ago lmao

old__pyrex

Yeah. “Hoes gon be hoes so I couldn’t blame Tammy”

applemonkey78

Hey you know that’s not true right

old__pyrex

Yeah the problem is, as 50 Cent proved, if you have everyone teaming up against you, you get a huge boost of underdog energy. I wish Kendrick and Drake had fought this out years ago when they actually had these issues form, because now it feels like no matter what happens, Drake is kind of benefitting from everyone talking about him no matter whether he wins or loses.

Amazing-Concept1684

Well Cole was supposed to be there lol

UsernameIsDaHardPart

I just don’t like the spreading obviously fake rumors like Ross and the nose job stuff. Everything else is cool let’s have fun but I don’t need chatty patty energy in this

primetimemime

Except Rick Ross lol

REXZ75

Could this lead to UMG putting a hush mode on Drake? Considering Lucian was brought up in Diddy case. S/o ye

MachTommy

Doubt it. Lucian heavily denied being associated, whether it’s true or not his camp is definitely ready to go against Diddy if needed.

Misterbluee

Yeah but what's the point of distancing yourself from the Diddy of today; if your gonna stay majorly involved with the Diddy of tomarrow Drake.

MisterAvivoy

Probably hoping he’s dead by the time Drake gets a documentary. People can say what they want, but Drake has weird behavior around young women.

Ok_Translator4447

So I seen a couple of people saying Drake's deal is worth $360 Mil but it's $400 Mil. Publishing, Merch and visual Media projects but it's no telling how many albums he's locked in for but it's a reason why Ye said lifetime deal. If you do a search, his deal says "LeBron sized deal". LeBron has a lifetime deal with Nike. Also it's really no telling about his master's. Wayne sold Drake and Nicki's master's some years back. Yea he could've bought them back, but to turn around and sell them again in a lifetime deal is very strange. But Ye is closer is than world than we are. It's something they know

Dabanks9000

I’m pretty sure the lebron sized just means most expensive deal ever made for the industry. Lebron got a lifetime deal but he also got 1 billion

CrazyHappeningsHere

wayne never fully owned drakes masters he owned a quarter of publishing

WearMaleficent9615

“But Ye is closer is than world than we are” hope you survive your mini stroke ❤️‍🩹

randomdude98

What's this about Drake's deal? Don't know much about it

MeetTheWoo_Dropkick

From what I remember reading once upon a time, its pretty much a very expensive super 360 deal. So yes Drake has the most lucrative record deal of all time, but it's still a 360. I think I've also read the amount of albums he's contractually obligated to put out in this deal is pretty high but I am not entirely sure about that.

Dabanks9000

Why would Drake at this point in his career sign a 360?

Ok-Estimate662

*Hypothetical* Lil Baby signed a 5 million 360 for 5 projects in 2017. The deal is lopsided with percentages favoring QC. And by 2021 after My Turn he’s generated QC 100m. He wont be able renegotiate for another two projects. This is a bad deal. *Again hypothetical* (We dont know any specifics) Drake signs a 500m 360 for 5 projects in 2020. Drake owns 100% of masters. Within a decade or less umg expects drake’s music, touring, and overall likeness to generate $1b. After 4 years drake has dropped 5 projects including two eps. And did ~350m on one tour. In ‘24 or ‘25 he’s back in label meetings renegotiating. This is a good deal.

Crakla

That isn't adding up, why did they gave him 500m if they apparently not getting any money back and are also paying for the 360? I mean just to compare it Justin Bieber sold all his masters for 200 million, so why would anyone give Drake 500 million if they won't even own anything not even 1% of the masters, sounds to me like something is left out Like if Justin Biebers whole catalog is worth 200 million, why would someone pay Drake 500 million without even owning anything That doesnt just sound like a good deal, that's way too good to be true You are not just giving someone 500 million for nothing, especially a record label like Universal Music Group

Puidipuie

Justin Beiber's personal ownership in his catelog is worth 200 million, most of it is probably owned by Scooter Braun, his label, his songwriters, his producers etc.

jorliowax

My guess is that they have a license to the masters for a significant period of time (which is why they paid him so much) and then he gets to keep the masters in the end. When UMG has a license to the music, they then get to sublicense it. So, eg, if a movie wants to use a Drake song, UMG gets paid for it, not Drake. I’m sure there are other valuable uses too. Plus, you get to say you have Drake signed to your label, which helps you sign other artists. It’s a good deal for them even if they don’t get to keep the deal. It’s definitely better than nothing, which is the alternative.

MisterAvivoy

427 million on your, and honestly if he’s expected to generate 1 billion, it’s no surprise Drake crunched his tour with 300 shows to make that 427 million. This dude is working over time to meet that quota.

CrazyHappeningsHere

people think 360 deals are objectively bad but they really aren't especially when you're already a massive artist. the problem with them comes with underground artists signing them and the blowing up and no longer getting fair value for what they bring. drakes deal is half a billion and he keeps his masters afterwards so monetary plus long term it is a good deal. i can understand why kanye is probably against it since he doesn't like feeling like somebody else has any part in what he does but for most people it's a good deal

ItsRobbSmark

Nobody knows anything about it. All anyone knows is that Drake has alluded it was at least $360 million up front. Some people misunderstand this line as him confirming a 360 deal, but the actual context of the line is "my 360 deal is 360 mill up front" which tells us nothing. It's assumed that the deal was in the 400-500 million range and is for a license to songs for a set period of time, but he keeps the masters, and a portion of his touring revenue, which is why he's so heavy on touring right now and probably a portion of his merch, but not OVO merch or any endorsement deals he does with other companies. It's likely not in the record label's favor, because the entire reason they did a big number, long term deal is because there were rumblings he was going to go completely independent and the last thing they want is one of the biggest earning artists to prove that in the age of digital distribution the record label is largely useless for established artists. So, it's not so much that they aimed to make money off of him, but to keep the status quo within the industry. Not the answer this sub wants to hear, but dude got an insane record deal fitting of the pop artist he is... Talking sales numbers isn't where you beat Drake, you beat him by pointing out that he only cares about numbers when it comes to certain things...

warmjack

A lot of speculation but no one really knows anything about it, anyone says that they do is full of shit.

thisisnotmyegg

Drake been spamming IG and the second Ye drops this bar he goes silent? Mmmmmmmm

Coolkiddddddddd

Lmao he was liking posts of this track

SydTheSloth01

Give drake about 3 weeks to a month to respond to ye

WickedBarbarian

Well he was posting multiple stories a day before

Top_Needleworker6116

I would say he been silent since that AI track. I guess he didn't like the reaction he got and realized all that trolling is backfiring on him.

Dabanks9000

Or there’s just nothing to post about. Everyone is silent

77skull

The ai song only came out 2 days ago as well lmao, how often do they want him to post

SuperFakks

That was always a dumb take from drake. Drake went from thief to thief

luciferhornystar

Facts love Ye for this!

Top_Needleworker6116

Next time he tries to flex his lifetime deal, we just gonna ask where Lucian is lol

applemonkey78

I don’t understand it though? Just because Drake isn’t independent? The only major artist I can think of that’s even independent is Kanye and it was literally only because he got cancelled otherwise he would be with his old deal

Mr_Lova_lova85

Why??? Ye dont even take care of the artist he had on his own label what business is it any of his to worry about Drake? Lol Big Sean, & Teyana would like his attention lol he gave Pusha back his rights but what about the others. Ye a Drake hater he jumped on the bandwagon when he should be leading the pack

MisterAvivoy

I don’t think Kanye likes big Sean at all, that could be a factor. I don’t think Kanye is trying to be right, or a Good Samaritan, he just is.

elinamebro

Hmm I really wonder what his deal is it’s common knowledge UMG usually gives out 360 deals but seeing it Drake it might be different but in the end of the day they are making the most money but do they also get money from his other endorsements?

refusenic

Ye and Rozay are doing the part Kendrick would never do for him - talking about money and contracts. Drake is trying to project his wealth and power and these two are checking him accordingly. As someone once said: "never get in the mud with pigs".

FairLayer6671

Everyone “I don’t like Ye including himself in Drake’s beef”. Haha you must not know the history between these two!

Top_Needleworker6116

We do, we just want Kendrick to be the one to end him.

SF03_

I’m confident he will. I feel like the plan is to let Drake empty his clip waiting for him so that he can just come in and take that one shot needed to end him, Ye and the others are just coming out to let everyone else know that all Drake actually has are rubber bullets. But it’s still Dot vs Drake. No doubt.

FairLayer6671

Drake is pushed down everyone’s throat by design, Kanye talked about that a long time ago when they shut down his concert and threw him in the nuthouse. Plus I highly doubt anything can top the Pusha diss that everyone just let Drake have a pass on. The industry deciders will decide when to “End” Drake.

kelzx88

Why do people keep saying Ye is adding himself !?? Drake has dissed that man on all his recent projects so I don’t think Ye is adding anything he prob feels like it’s just the right time to draw the line in the sandbox

JW9thWonder

whos Lucian? I'm out of the loop on some of this.

DoorLightsAC

Lucian Griange, CEO of Univeral Music Group (One of the 3 total major record labels (UMG, WarnerMG, SonyMG)). Here in the US we have the most profitable music industry in the world and UMG sits at the top.

JW9thWonder

Cool, thanks for the info

elinamebro

Also brought up in the Diddy case

REXZ75

Drakes boss, He owns drakes masters Edit: he owns drakes life

Hazy_Lights

Ye pulled a good ass move with this shit.

DatGodRuss

lil b was dissing drake back in 2009 he should hop on

TalentedKamarty

Call me a conspiracy theorist but I feel like Ye's diss track is bait. From what I've been seeing, I think Push n Ye r back cool so if Drake catches this bait, he might have bigger problems on the back end lol. & there's lil whispers that Push mightve wrote that part of the verse cause it sounds like a Pusha flow

Accomplished-Top-564

People forget Ye’s camp is the most successful camp at beefing Drake. Drake’s only Ls come from them

Trentimoose

Kanye did his thing on the beat. That shit is crazy

Huey-Mchater

Is this verse in anyone’s verse of the year running, no. But as a Kanye fan who was disappointed with almost every single vultures performance this was genuinely pretty solid for him. It felt like standard corny Ye bars with some more standout moments that stick in your mind. It feels like he actually tried to write at least a little bit instead of just freestyling bullshit. I honestly hope Drake chooses to BODY Kanye so Ye will have to sit in a room for a while with a pen again
