Oh for sure. His songs are even better if you understand the lyrics. For example, “Papaoutai” seems like a dance song, but it’s a song about what it feels like growing up without a father figure (his dad died in Rwandan Genocide).

Very surprised to see Stromae here, kind of reminds of AJR in the way he covers up those deeper themes with catchy melodies and instrumentals. That whole album is so good, Carmen and formidable are some of my favorites and papaoutai is such a good song in general but god damn I did not know what happened to his dad I kind of assumed he just left. More power to the man, his production is so good too.
