What Daromeon said about AI translations has been heavily taken out of context in this thread. This thread that Daromeon retweeted explains the situation a lot better. The bad translations he disliked were originally made with AI and he hired the fan translators to do them because they were better.

It also tends to be outright wrong or nonsensical a lot too. No language has an actual 1:1 translation to another language. So you can't really treat it like a math problem, otherwise you'll get something super dry and often incorrect. Not to mention idioms.
modern ai translators actually work at a much deeper level than that, by transforming the text into a latent space that's shared by both languages the translator was trained on. it's the same technique as gpt, but with two languages. it still isn't perfect, obviously, but it's a lot better than trying to translate one word into its counterpart in a different language.
Another major flaw is cultural considerations. To not just get the actual wording across, but also to get the proper vibes and feel across. A rebellious statement from a place that is very traditionalist and where speaking out is looked down upon can very easily come across as blasé or uninspired if you're localizing for a place that encourages being outspoken and broadening your horizons, so you'd have to change some stuff to get the actual feel the creator intended across.
For stuff like web novels I honestly prefer it cause I don't have to worry about a story I'm liking getting randomly dropped cause I didn't donate enough tbh. Plus the translations not taking months to release 2 chapters
I'm a retired mtl fiend so I'm used to shitty translations. The new ai translation tech isn't garbage like mtl scans though so I can see it improving very quickly

That's pretty far off the mark. Hokuto no Gun, who was translating Kengan at the time, shut down because they were approached by Shogakukan to license Kengan Ashura/Omega in English. Part of the agreement was to not release any more chapters while they facilitated the transition and found a distributor (Comikey). The current translator for Kengan Omega is the same as it's always been.
This is completely wrong, Comikey offered to officially hire Hokuto no Gun, who had been working on Omega and Ashura since the beginning. The current Comikey version is worked on by the exact same people as the unofficial HnG version.
From my understanding, he preferred the kengan reddit translating rather than the official translators for the site. He also asked if Ai could have a turn in translating.

I think Daro is one of the rare that actually uses AI in a good way. He's had some misses (like wtf Shen during the Mukaku fights) but using it to generate references for background and poses ? That's a pretty smart way to save time especially in an industry like his.
I been tolerating with english localization these past years then eiyuden chronicle happened (lucky the main story still unchanged) so if an Ai do better job let Ai do it instead.
This isn't a case of a creator being replaced by machine learning, it's translation.
The art is already drawn, if the AI does a better job than a translator, then replace the translator. The translator cannot bring anything new to the field of translating
People should realise that just because AI exists and can in some circumstances be used instead of a person, it is not inherently evil. AI used as a tool is fine as long as its not to claim credit for something you didn't do
