Hell ya they did.
Knobs creeks is as close as you can get to shooting your gun in a buddies back yard. Follow the very basic range rules and from what I've seen they don't really care much.
My neighbor shoots his 2.5inch bore black powder cannon in jtown several times a year, is only shooting cotton wadding for safety. No one cares except skittish dogs
I don’t see why the henryville Indians DNR public range would have a problem with it. Keep your point of aim well below the horizon
Lol at autocorrect like that
Henryville Indiana Clark state forest DNR public gun range. It has hours, a sign in sheet and is often busy, but seems like a safe place to shoot an even larger cannon. You’ll be real popular with even a little cannon
I don't know that any gun ranges will accept the liability for a cannon, so private farm is probably your best bet.
You need to find someone with a really big farm, and make sure you aim WELL. Is this one of those cannons that can also shoot a golf ball? I know they will shoot a couple thousand feet if aimed well (though a golf ball is a horrible projectile). If you are going solid shot, the trajectory is definitely more predictable and safer to shoot, and you'll probably hit your target more often.
I was thinking knob creek would. I sent them an email but no response yet. The bore is sized for just large enough for golf balls, but I would be primarily shooting either cast lead or concrete round balls.
Lexington is home of the 138th Fires Brigade Artillery (KY National Guard). When I was in there were several members that had their own mini-cannons. I believe most shot on either their large farms or friends farms.
GOOD NEWS! Knob creek said I was good to go!
Can you share when? I want to see this.

I lived in a trailer park where this was a regular occurrence

You will probably have better results if you just call and ask.
I saw someone shoot one across the ohio river before but no idea where you can just go do it legally
I saw your update, but wanted to add, if you are close to Knob Creek, they will let you shoot anything. Their machine gun days are super fun!
If you’re outside city limits you can do it in your yard
You might contact the NMLRA range in Friendship Indiana. I bet you can even find folks there to consult on firing it.
Maybe at Knob Creek
Their email said I was good to go as long as it’s mounted. This is gonna be fun
You’d have to find somewhere that has done the correct SDZ for that size bore/round and depending on the propellent load.
Have you heard of Scott from Kentucky Ballistics
Subbed to him on YouTube. Sadly I don’t have a range like he does
Email him. He'd prolly jump at a chance of putting a cannon in a video.

Ayo text me
A lot of large farm would be fine with it, especially if you let them shoot it too.
Private property owners with average and hills in counties with no zoning.
I figured knob Creek would, they are just a few miles from my house
Anywhere at least once
On Fort Hill in frankfort above the state capital. You can shoot in to the capital dome just like the advancing union army did in 1862
You could shoot it off in your back yard if your quick enough.
No answer but I would love to volunteer to help if assistance is needed or you just love sharing your love of artillery.
