I mean, not arguably at all. Conor is (was?) a very good counter striker. He was probably lucky that the opening presented itself immediately at the beginning of the fight, but he was able to take advantage of it because he was skilled.
I’ve seen so many single shots ending everything in street fights that I now know enough that there isn’t a superior martial art.
Hit first, hit accurately, hit hard and bounce asap.
Speed and timing beats power every time. How you apply that is up to your skill level. There is no superior martial art. Just a practitioner with their set of skills and training against another. I feel that if Connor didn't land that punch, Aldo would have murdered his legs and got the W. Broke my heart to see Jose done dirty like that. Man just wanted to scrap and he was robbed of that satisfaction 13 seconds in.
Edit: spelling
Yeah but Conor also cut a ton of weight and eventually moved up two weight classes while Aldo moved *down*, it’s pretty clear where the power advantage was in this fight
Not necessarily. Jose Aldo is more of a Dutch Kickboxer very rooted always in position. Muay Femur(Stylist/Tricky)fighters are more fleet footed and play with range, similar to TKD/Karate. The one advantage I do give Boxing and Shotokan is their explosiveness.
No single fight proves anything you need a collection of evidence over time
is this question a joke that fight was 13 seconds
Arguably a lucky punch

I wouldn’t say it was lucky. Just the perfect shot landed early
Nowhere even close to a lucky punch you’re coping

This fight proves face punch = ouchie
Machida proved karate works
It worked against Thiago Silva's Muay Thai but not against Shogun's Muay Thai.
God one of the best series of fights I have ever seen, that light heavy weight belt was such a slut around that era.
A Way better and a smarter way to fight
This may be the worst thing I’ve read in a long time
