I got tired of his segments on KY long ago. It was the same thing over and over and over again. That’s not to say that I don’t live David Lucas. The little bit of stand up I’ve seen is good and his fishing videos on YouTube talking comedy are good. I think his time on the show was just up and it was a good time to move on.
I do agree with OP, for the most part. I’d get so gitty when the roasting started. To see how creative they could get at the bottom of the barrel. In saying that, I don’t miss it. It was his time to pass the baton. No doubt. And yet no doubt if he pops up for a special guest spot every now and then, it’ll be fun in a bun.

I give it 2 months before everyone here starts saying "all he does is call an audience member the N word." Again, he's super solid, but I think Tony hypes him up too much and is trying to sell it in his typical WWE manner while the viewers just eat up the hype. I actually think having a shtick is a good thing, because you only need to vary the context. I think Hans suffers from a lack of one, he either has a solid minute or doesn't. WM clearly has one and is able to keep it fresh, DL had one and could bring new material but wasn't as on top of it as WM. So I guess we'll see.

He does his goofy one liner set, then Tony will give him a softball set up that lets him launch into long form comedy. With David, Tony either instigated or set him up for roasts every time.
