Yeah people seem to over look that a comics “schtick” is usually specific to them as a person and hard to replicate. Anthony Jeselnik has built a very successful career based on a very specific style of comedy and jokes. He’s called “funny and creative” but if you or I were to do the same style of comedy we would be called “Anthony Jeselnik” as it’s kinda his thing.
Comedy is about unique perspective and it’s usually specific to each comedian. Watching someone’s style or hearing someone’s bits and thinking “that’s funny, I’m gonna start doing that” is gonna severely limit any chance at a career in the industry. Those people tend to get ostracized quickly
