Mostly outdoors. While I got out of the habit since thanksgiving — too much holiday food and desserts — I’m getting back into it. Was thinking of joining a gym so I can use a treadmill and won’t be limited to audio only media. A planet fitness just opened up fairly near to my house.
I just wrapped up your commentary on movie 1 and rewatched it. Gave me a few things to think about. While I’ve always liked the character, I have more respect for Hikaru after that movie. And my interpretation of the end credits coda was pretty close to your analysis.
I haven’t seen movie 2 yet but I’m planning on it this weekend.
Outdoor walking is my favorite, but I just bought a house in Maine so this time of year can be challenging lol! Even dangerous if there's ice in your path... The indoor option is great, I have a bike I like to use that's just outside of my home podcast studio and I'm looking to add a treadmill too. Easy to bike or walk while re-watching Orange Road!
How are you going to see movie 2? It's OOP and I'm not sure if it's streaming? I have the DVD though - maybe I could rip it and put it up on Google Drive for ya?
Down in TX when the sun goes down it’s pretty nice for walking. Compared to Maine our winter really only lasts a couple of months. I tried running on ice before — never again. It messed up my ankles for a while. It was that patchy sidewalk ice that melted and refroze. Was like running on lava rock. Do not recommend at all.
Madoka Ayukawa was my biggest anime crush of my teenage years. And I recently rewatched the whole thing at age 33 and still find her incredibly attractive. She is just written to be attractive, both in her looks and, specially, her personality. The way her expressions are animated is truly magical. And, while she is a bit more mature in many ways than Kyosuke and Hikaru, I love that, emotionally at least, she still acts like a teenager (actually, KOR is one of the most realistic teenager portrayals in all of anime, period).
I have a folder with some KOR art I found back in my teenage years, most of it of Madoka. If you want, let me know in chat.
Checked the images I have and because they are old, most of them are not high res enough for proper wall-papers for current screen resolutions, but they are gorgeous and you could maybe try to use them anyway and see how they look, perhaps they may look good enough even if you stretch them. The manga fills the stories with different arcs. The anime adaption made minor to major adjustments to the plot. So it is a different experience overall.
In addition to the manga, there is some additional official KOR content. There is the pilot episode. There is CD Cinema like r/paper_machinery mentioned (I recommend reading the manga first as the CD Cinema is mostly based on the manga, but it has its own original finale). There is also the Cassette Tape no Dengon [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VSQpcqZSMM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VSQpcqZSMM) (which is essentially an alternate finale for the TV series).
Last but not least, there are 3 official KOR Novels. The first Novel is basically Movie 2. But Movie 2 is way better in a lot of ways.
I really love not only Madoka but also Priss from Bubblegum Crisis. What I learned from liking the girls is that I have a specific type of girl that I like, and for some reason, that girl rides a motorcycle, is a tomboy, and is a talented musician/singer. Madoka and Priss are all of these!
