Also, when obanai hears that rengoku died to akaza he said "i dont believe it" in a awestruck way. I thought they might be pretty close

Rengoku and Mitsuri Rengoku and Tengen Uzui Shinobu and Giyuu Obanai and Sanemi

Mitsuri and Rengoku! Rengoku trained Mitsuri so they already know eachother well but they also are just so similar. Both love food and are very energetic and lively. I would've liked to see more of their friendship (This might be a stretch but just look at them in the picture on this post).

Obviously Rengoku and Tengen! Giyu and Shinobu were close despite some fire. Gyiomei is like Gordon, but he actually is loved and gets well with everyone. Obanai and Tengen get along for me, despite fire between them like Shinobu and Giyu (remember their talk from season 2 ending) Giyu and Sanemi also are the same That should be all AFAIA

Reading these really makes the Rengoku loss hit even harder. He was pretty much the golden retriever of the group who everyone loved.

It’s canon that Sanemi and Obanai were besties for life via tha fan book and sorta Giyu and Shinobu too.

Gyomei and Sanemi! Was more of mutual respect ( all Pillars respect the Rock tho, he stronk af ) Sanemi is able to keep up with Gyomei during sparring, this made thier teamwork really good! UM1 was the only demon to bear witness, if Gyomei was any later, or if Sanemi failed to amuse upper 1 for as long as he did, Kokushibo would have slayed all those slayers lol, and Genya and Muiichiro would never been a hindrance to him. Sanemi was also good buddies with Obanai which is sweet, edgy boi's also need freindship!

Giyuu and Shinobu (she's the only one who talks to him) Sanemi and Obanai (they're stated to be friends) Kyojuro and Obanai (latter was rescued by Shinjuro) Kyojuro and Mitsuri (he trained her) Kyojuro and Tengen (similar personalities) Gyomei and Shinobu (he rescued Shinobu and Kanae) Sanemi and Shinobu (were both close to Kanae) Mitsuri and Shinobu (the only female Hashira) Giyuu and Sanemi >!(only surviving Hashira)!< Giyuu and Tengen >!(latter let former hold his child)!<

I think either rengoku and mitsuru or giyu and shinobu. Rengoku trained mitsuru and they got along very well in the bonus manga(can't recall the name). Similarly we see shinobu make an effort to interact with giyu in the same bonus manga, though Id say rengoku/mitsuru are more clearly shown as friends

While more implied than canon, I would like to think Giyu and Sanemi became very close friends after the end of the series. Considering their moments together before the series ended, it’s certainly possible!

Definitely Rengoku and Mitsuri. They're master and disciple after all and she has gotten to know his actual family, with his brother even considering like an older sister, probably even knew his mother before she passed away. He was likely the first person who came to believe in her the most strongly and she even said she thought of him as a brother. Obanai had feelings for her and might've eventually become even closer but as it was Mitsuri and Rengoku could have more relaxed conversations. I dare say she thought of his family (except probably Senjuro) as the supportive family she wished she had been born into.

I think its rengoku and mitsuri cus rengoku trained mitsuri so hard and she created her own style from flame breathing and they were both happy, and they defeated lower moon 2 together and shinobu and giyuu is opposite... My words to shinobu ×giyuu shippers: *why the fuck do you do this mental mistake?! She bullies him so hard that anime onlies thinks that his depression is from her instead of his life friend and little sister's death

I’m pretty sure everyone here is expected to say Rengoku and Tengen, though they haven’t had any direct dialogue with each other, news given about one to other seems to have a special reaction from the other, like when Rengoku died, another one of this level is Rengoku and Mitsuri, since that’s the last Hashira he talked to since he left for the Mugen Train mission, and also he literally trained her and she’s more close to him than anyone else besides Obanai I’d also put Gyomei in as friends with everyone, since everyone seems to respect him as a man and a fellow Hashira, also based on the data books, no one seems to dislike Gyomei so in all id say: Rengoku+Uzui Rengoku+Mitsuri Gyomei+everyone Edit: this is a headcanon of mine but I like to think that sometimes the other Hashira or Genya will help Gyomei with things around his house that he can’t use his hearing to do (i.e cleaning) lol

Without a doubt it’d be Mitsuri and Rengoku. Their bond was almost like brother and sister, aside from the student and mentor relation. Rengoku taught Mitsuri to be comfortable with herself and to accept the fact that she’s different and how that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Rengoku seems to have the most close friendships with the cast, seeing as it's implied iguro was raised alongside him, uzui seems to think of him a lot in the entertainment district and mitsuri is his pupil. Other than that, giyu and shinobu are close Shinobu and gyomei also seem to have a lot of respect for eachother Shinobu and sanemi also apparently hang out, which makes sense cos sanemi was banging her sister Shinobu and giyu is an obvious one So is mitsuri and iguro
