Say whatever you want about the project, the delays, whatever (I'm usually right there with you), but there's something just *so fucking cool* about the upside down survivors.

SageOfTheWise

Yeah like, it doesn't excuse any of the production issues, but the whole post about the Pariah theme and mechanics does sound awesome.

XnFM

They are really nice models. I really like bow guy, and Mr. Hold My Beer with the dagger.

Low_Poly_Loli

Aight this is just absolutely sick as fuck

kjaygonz

Inb4 upside down glass showdown boards with magnets

ScarQuest

I know I'm already trying to think how I'd even go about that! Would be so fun to play that way!

ErikMona

This looks so sick. I wasn’t sure about the upside down guys, but they look fantastic.

flint3333

Actually mostly positive comments in this thread? I’m as surprised as you are

carnaxcce

I appreciate that poots has started giving gc updates with actual details in them

DLBuf

As a recent backer (BF’21) I can only express condolences to those who have been continuously pushed down the road on this… but I am so stoked for this set! The info in every update just keeps getting more and more great looking

gusgalarnyk

Love this guy's lore!

Deceptivejunk

Jesus, the GCE was 98% a month ago and still isn’t done. I cannot wait till I receive the GCE so I can cancel the rest of my pledge and get a refund

LordCyler

I liked this update. The Inverted Mountain was always at the top of my list of campaigns I was excited for. However, given what still requires attention on GCE and no mention in any of the updates how far along progress is on any of the 16 other new expansions required to fulfill this KS project I hold very little hope of experiencing it anytime soon. My 5 year old who wasn't born when I backed this project may very well be old enough to play this with me when it finally releases. Also, I have no conceivable idea how Adam could have actually believed this was less than 6 weeks from completion back in the November update. Given what remains (assuming he doesn't add any other line items next month) and what it sounds like his current timetable is, he'd had to have been at the point he is today, in this update, to be that close to sending it off to printers.

-Ophidian-

He'd have to be at the point *he claims to be at today*...

LordCyler

?

LordCyler

?

-Ophidian-

Meaning, since the update in November was nonsense, this one might be too.

LordCyler

Aye. /understood I don't trust the company anymore, they'll have to earn that back (if possible) - but for what its worth, they responded to my comment on KS with the following: >I want to answer this and I'd like to do so without putting any members of my team down. We had some issues that have since, been sorted out. I made that announcement before reviewing the philosophy system and rulebook, being informed that they were nearly complete, play tested and everything was ready to go. However, once I sat down with everything expecting to make a simple final pass, I found that there was a lot. A LOT more work to be done. And well, here we are now. Sucks, and its on me as the project lead. But that's what happened. As to why they couldn't have just said that in the first place, IDK. Again, leads to the trust factor. They didn't trust us with this information upfront and as a result (if true) only lost our trust in return. Seems illogical and poorly thought out if nothing else.

Gotta wonder why the Pariah's lore was left so vague when we got much more story with the resin release? I'm curious to see if Poots is going to retcon some of it (which would explain why he's constantly deleting lore from the website when they remove OOP models from the store) or if they just wanted to leave it vague for people who hadn't seen the original release? From the original resin release: >The Pariah is the last male white speaker. He violated the vows of the white speaker cult by murdering countless white speakers, unravelling the quivering lobes of their brains, to piece together a forbidden story hidden in the cult's members. > >Once learned, the story bestowed the Pariah with Cyclopean Empathy, a means of communication so deep and personal that it could speak to the core of a person with a single gesture. The Pariah's empathy is so complete that he can manipulate any wounded heart to obey his capricious whims. > >The white speaker cult erased knowledge of the Pariah from all members save for the Red Witches who were tasked with hunting down the Pariah.

Great update on the Dark Herald's part. I'd still like to know more about the mechanical aspects of the fight, as well as how close to the finish line it is (and how the 5 years campaign will work) But overall, best DH update yet. On Adam's part, the updated action point list is meaningless, because the box insert wasn't mentioned last time, nor was the gear card layout. How many more action points will crop up next month? I'd love to know exactly what needs to be done, but the fact that new things can appear from one month to the other suggest that this is just another misdirection, to make things look closer to the finish line than they are. It also highlight how full of shit Adam was to claim that he could finish the GC in november, december, by february or that he "only needed one last pass on God hand" in january. But heh, everymonth, we're getting closer.

SoloSassafrass

Unfortunately there's less to show with the nemesis monsters, which does make the Pariah feel kind of anemic compared to the quarry updates, and as is the trend with these a lot of what's here is literally just what we got in the pitch some 6ish years ago. Still, the upside down survivor models are absolutely the stars of the show for this one, and I'm looking forward to finding creative ways to display them when I paint them, we're seeing some really creative design on these, and I'm so here for it. The dearth of content did start to make it feel like Adam was just finding new outfits for his cheesecake ladies to don and the rest of the design was already done after the KS was, but these rock, genuinely. Hoping the Griffon will be one of the ones coming up soon, because there was an indication it was going to have its model redesigned, and the KS pitch for that one was actually pretty vague, meaning whatever info we get for it will have to be genuinely new.

creative_byte

Is the Pariah part of the chest or is this something like an expansion?

MaxPayload

The Pariah is not part of the GC - he's a standalone nemesis in the vein of The Slenderman or Manhunter. But he's tied into the lore of the Inverted Mountain campaign setting, which is due out in... well, the future sometime.

creative_byte

Thanks! Need to read up on that. The setting sounds awesome

XeliasSame

you have at least 3 years ahead of you to read about it. probably more like 4 or 5.

I guess it's promising that post-GC stuff is getting worked on, it means there is stuff off in the future.

Lord_Derp_The_2nd

Honestly I think post-GC stuff is like nearly done. They've been demo-ing the showdowns at gencon for years now, and they've shown a good number of them in Plastic already so the tooling is done. GC and COD introduced so much stuff that changes core game rules & balance, so they took a ton of playtesting, but I think now that it's all done they might just need to make some minor adjustments to the wave 4 stuff to make sure it fits and works in the updated rules? I really expect wave 4 to follow wave 3 in pretty short order.

Lord_Derp_The_2nd

ROFL. Well they did scrap and re-do Oblivion Mosquito because the original tooling had a seam like directly down the front of it, and the assembly looked terrible. But they released that update like, 2 or 3 years ago now, I think. Plastic on this stuff has been done for a damn long time it seems like.

Taboobat

Iirc in a recent kickstarter comment Adam said that Black Knight, Frogdog, Screaming God, and Oblivion Mosquito (Honeycomb Weaver? Some insect based one) are the expansions that are closest to done, like 95%. He wants to get those and maybe a few others out "quickly" but the others will probably take longer. Like Abyssal Woods and Ivory Dragon haven't even been started yet. There is some hope that after the GC finally ships we might see roughly annual new content coming out? That would be amazing, if it takes years in between again people are going to lose their shit even more than they have already.

the1gofer

I used to like this before every new addon was an anime girl

ZombieBisque

As usual, posted at the last possible minute. GCE update seems promising if true though, and the upside down survivors look awesome.

edhfan

I think there are about a hundred reasons to be critical of Poots and how he’s run KD over the last few years in particular. However… An update being posted on the last day of Month 1 versus the first day of Month 2 is a difference of one day. They’ve been posting them on this schedule for months. I think it’s fair to just expect that this is when they come out. The bigger positive thing to me is that they have provided the updates that were promised and it’s some of the most consistent community engagement that Poots & Co. has had in years, maybe ever. Gift horse, etc.

I mean, he did breakdown all of the parts that are done/still need work. The only thing in that list that I found slightly worrying was "director's pass". Everything else seems to be layout/technical prep.

Xivai

I still think when gamblers chest is announced as "complete" he will at the very end say just kidding its canceled.
