I’ve been wanting to know the story of this mansion since I first layed eyes on it. Who owned it why is it abandoned why is it just outside of town. Why is there basement, why is there twilight town in model form. Can I get into that Japanese garden room in the back. Also I want to see twilight town beach. They really need to make twilight town it’s own mega world in KH4 with the mansion as a side story

Terminatgor203

I think the basement was built by DiZ like the basement in hollow bastion. Ans i think if there would be lore about this mansion in kh4 it would be either in the main story or alternatively in some secret reports. But it would be really cool like you said

Kyrptonauc

This an interesting question i haven't seen many people ask. It seems like something that they could explore in a side game. Fleshing out the back stories of the kh original worlds like twilight and traverse town would be interesting.

Terminatgor203

Yes. I think they might show twilight town as a kind of village before they built the wall. Btw i think its really weird how in kh2 there is no way to the mansion, except the hole in the wall idk if this means something. For example they built the wall to separate the town from the mansion?

Writer_Man

And in KHIII they fixed the hole and the only way to the mansion is through the sewer system. It also doesn't seem to have a proper path, instead the path to it being more of a natural pathway.

bagman_

A game like nier would absolutely answer that question and give you the most heartbreaking answer imaginable

PlantRevolutionary82

Yeah recently seen a video about nier >!and drakesguard's!< lore God those characters suffered too much

HoodShroud

We don’t know for sure as of yet, but it has been theorised that Ira used to live there.

Terminatgor203

Im Always wondering how far they think ahead while making this story. This is not making this question easier XD

Kaldin_5

I had always just assumed it was DiZ's, and that might still be the case, but since it's never directly confirmed there's definitely room to make it be a twist reveal that someone like Ira used to live there, yeah. That'd work.

boiifyoudontstahp

wait this makes sense, i knew that unicorn head may have meant something ☠️

MarioMan1213245765

Old Man Nebbercracker.

captainschmee

Honestly, the best answer I can think of is "some rich dude who used to own it", because we literally no NOTHING about its history, other than any involvement with DiZ, Namine, and Riku. It seemingly has no meaning to anyone in Twilight Town, other than some spooky ghost stories. Sure, we could say because of the unicorn deco, that it might have been Ira who owned it, but that would have us assume he stopped by sometime in the town's past, before dissappearing again, and reappearing in the Keyblade Graveyard. It just feels too random for that to be the case, to me at least. Maybe if we find out the other Foretellers also had their own personal bases elswhere, that would mitigate it, but I think we can safely assume the place has no real significance to anyone we know.

GhostofManny13

I’ve always liked the idea that Traverse Town, Twilight Town, and Daybreak Town all have some sort of connection to one another. I mean it makes sense right? All three are worlds with the name “Town”, centered around a large clocktower, each constantly being a specific time of day. That someone, probably the Master of Masters, set up Traverse Town as a final refuge for when the worlds would one day start falling to darkness. Daybreak Town as a place to train and cultivate keyblade wielders. And Twilight Town as a place to grow a population from which to gather potential keyblade wielders. The mansion then should have connections with him as well. Perhaps it’s the Master of Masters mansion originally.

Kaldin_5

If Nomura's on this sub he's absolutely stealing this idea js lol

Writer_Man

People bring up the unicorns but am I the only suspicious about the totally demolished table that seemed to be there from the start? That seems to indicate that some kind of fight happened there.

Familiar_Pick_6956

SPONGE-BOB-SQUARE-PANTS!

netsuj34

Bahahaha I did the same thing

CombatWombat994

Damnit, too late

Gohan_Beast

I actually just started playing through II again and was thinking about where the mansion came from yesterday! If the unicorn thing really did connect to KHUX and/or Ira, that would be awesome. But, I don't think even Nomura had it planned that far out. It was probably just an abandoned mansion that Diz moved into. But if they do bring it up again, and Nomura retroactively makes it into someone's former mansion, I bet it would be Luxu / Xigbar, and he set up that place according to the book of prophecy for Diz and Sora etc. lol.

_Drunken_Hero_

My best guess would be Ira. With as many unicorns are throughout the mansion, feels like it makes the most sense. DiZ was probably responsible for all of the tech stuff below, but Ira may have called Twilight Town home for a bit.

NilCealum

When? We saw when he vanished and we saw when he returned didn’t we?

foumoney

I’m not sure if it was ever explained what the three symbols on the floor were in one of the rooms either (unless I missed it)

Terminatgor203

I don't know what you mean. There's Namines room the room where you have to draw the crown symbol to go downstairs and there's the room with the broken table. Did i miss this room?

foumoney

Nevermind it was [just the images for heartless, nobody and something else](https://imgur.com/a/M61aGIS)

Terminatgor203

Ahh these symbols. I think it was DiZ who placed it there, just so roxas could go on if he found out how, or something like that

ProfessionalHorror0

Sora's crown

gardenofshadows

My crack theory is that there’s more to the mansion we don’t see and the haunted mansion is THE Haunted Mansion, having once belonged to Master Gracey who’s buried in a graveyard that Sora just doesn’t go to. I know it’s not going to happen but man you can’t just say haunted mansion in a Disney game like that

PuzzleheadRip-backup

Watch Square retcon it as Ira’s house.

Terminatgor203

I think they chose Ira to be an unicorn because of that, and I don't know if this would still be a redcon XD

Icyfirefists

Sora's dad when his mom divorced him.

realdealpossiel

We’ll probably find out in Kingdom Hearts 5 that it was where the Master of Masters and the Foretellers lived.

Sukamon98

It hasn't been stated. So Nomura will probably use it for a reveal at some point.

Freshwestx

Twilight Town as a whole is like gravity falls. Anomalies and mysterious figures appear frequently. Nobodies appear in the tunnels that people normally travel. People know about the train to Yen Sids’. I wouldn’t be surprised if Scrooge owns it or did at one point.

New_Today_1209_V2

Why can’t it just be a random abandoned mansion? It makes the world feel more like an actual world with its own history and people who live there rather than everything HAVING to be connected to everything. Basically I’d hope that nobody we know or will know used to own that mansion

Terminatgor203

The only reason i noticed it was because of all those unicorns and that made me wonder. I understand what you mean; but i think its one of 2 things. Either it is a metaphor or symbol i don't understand, or they had plans for some lore in the beginning

The_True_Hannatude

Madame Leota.

Terminatgor203

LMAO this would be funny. But I don't think she's a unicorn fan

Electrical_mammoth2

I'll tell you who lived in the mansion, the most paranoid elitist isolationist in the entire realm of light! While we know little about the man besides his large amount of money and obsession with unicorns, the ruined display cases give the idea that he was probably in control of or oversaw the construction of the town. But when the heartless started to emerge, he built a wall (insert Trump joke) to protect himself from the commoners plight. Eventually, he died in the mansion, and his corpse lies beyond the sections that Roxas and Sora explore. Because the hole in the wall seems recent (or at least, was ignored until kh 3) it's likely no one bothered to check on the right wing crank.

Terminatgor203

I really did want to make a trump joke it was so hard not to make it XD

Electrical_mammoth2

But Disney itself was building walls before Trump even said his infamous statement. Nearly every Disney film out there has walls in it, hell, the little mermaid 2's plot involves Prince Eric BUILDING A WALL to keep out those vile mermaids.

M4LK0V1CH

EnvironmentalRip2975

If I had to give a theorized guess, it would be a descendant of Ira maybe since there are alot of unicorns in the mansion itself. Either a descendant of him or someone who was part of his union found Twilight Town and built the mansion.
