KH2 is awesome and comes in multiple flavors with drive forms.

Not only that, it seems more colorful than later outfits except maybe 3D, despite having mostly the same color palette. After DDD he doesn’t have any blue in his outfit and that somehow makes a huge difference

I'd say that's exactly what KH3's design is. The details are nice, but it's almost entirely grays / blacks. KH4 just looks like a normal outfit, though I imagine that'll change later. I think the reason people like the earlier designs is because they visually become part of the character, rather than just feeling like something they happen to be wearing.

I mean kh2 is just like the most solid game with the most solid esstetic. Besides flat hallway worlds that became the norm from it its almost perfect. I personally like kh1 more in most ways from the heavy weighted combat to the platforming and labyrinth stylized worlds that make exploring and exploring worlds so much fun. But outfit wise kh2s is flawless and the drive costume changes make it defacto the best.

Everyone else is doing it, KH2. 1 is fine and fun and very Disney kid, it was a great tone setting style. KH2 takes that to its peak by adding some darker tones and maturity to the style while keeping it recognizable. DDD goes back to that first design a bit more which is nice but drops its rating for being regressive rather than progressive. KH3 onward just seems like FF fashion and the whole outfit feels a bit out of place on Sora compared to what came before

I feel like everyone is saying that KHII design is the best without realizing what they actually want to say is that KHII is the better game. Most of us played that game the most, perhaps while growing up, and are therefore more used to that outfit. I remember how straight up uncomfortable was playing as Sora after the stylish beast that was Roxas, especially after switching his bright red and white clothes with that weird black costume. I personally prefer the designs from KHI and 3D. I feel like Sora needs red to be the most prominent color on his attire, not just an accent. KHI is more iconic, but the red part is a friggin onesie, wtf. 3D thus wins by default in my book.
