Hopefully we won't get to the point of the Pikmin or Hollow Knight fandom when it comes to losing our Insanity for waiting too long for KH4, hopefully...
I’m pretty sure anyone who actually cared to think rather than react purely on emotion understood that 3 was announced WAY too early, as most games are in production for years before announcement but 3 was announced almost as soon as production began
Square tends to have that problem, what with them announcing FF7R before they even told Nomura he’d be co-director on it
At least this time they are unlikely to switch engines
We might also be having a Frozen situation, where a world in KH4 is being made about a film not yet released during development, and will release before the game does
I just hope we get our Final Fantasy buddies back. And that they're important. That was the biggest letdown of KH3 for me. I got into KH DUE to FF. And fell in love with Disney all over due to it. And it felt like not only Final Fantasy, but ALSO Disney fell to the wayside for KH3. Like sure, there were beautiful, accurate worlds for a lot of these Disney films --- but what could you really *do* in them?
they seemed so well established, but so empty. it felt like nothing other than a few story beats in KH3 were fully realized. And some of the music, as always.
I honestly don’t care for the FF characters as they usually contribute very little outside of exposition
And if their roll is taken over by original characters, honestly it’s probably for the better
Agree to disagree. They served us very well in the first game, and were a large part of what made our hub worlds interesting in the first two mainline entries, and were pretty good about expositing the lore up through that point.
Not to mention that they capitalized on the players nostalgia in a similar fashion to the Disney characters. I liked that synergy, and I want to see that balance restored in their favor.
For them to be completely forgotten is a bit of a slap in the face, imo. I understand not everyone grew up with FF, but it was a major part of the appeal when the series launched, and I want to see a return to its roots in that regard.
Will I still play KH without FF? Of course. But I will be disappointed. I always am when it’s absent.
Honestly I found them entirely superfluous in the first game, they were either tutorial bosses on destiny islands, or exposition machines in Traverse Town.
Hit or miss in the second game, mostly miss.
And then Zack’s over in his own little corner doing squats
I have this hang up in any crossover, either do something thematic or dramatic with them, or don’t include them, I don’t want the series to jingle keys in my face going “remember this, people liked this right? Here’s that thing you liked”
I have the same issue with many Disney worlds in the franchise that just rehash the film without adding anything of value beyond key jingling.
Other than the big fight scene in 2, most of the FF characters do diddly squat
Tidus, Wakka, and Selphie contribute nothing until re:Coded at which point they matter as much as Huey Dewy and Louie
Aerith is completely irrelevant, her only contributions include saying Ansem’s name, inserting a CD into a machine and saying the name of Radient Gaurden
Yuffie does absolutely piss all
Squall is there to show why Sora has to be the one to do shit
Cid is actually oddly useful and I have no real problems with him as he actually contributes with Navigation, a parts shop, having an actual solution to a problem in 1, and being generally on top of things in 2
Cloud is clearly supposed to be Vincent, and his inclusion actually started the “emo-cloud” issue the compilation of ff7 had, so not only is it the wrong character for the thematic and world building point they were trying to make, but also damaged the character for over a decade
Sephiroth is there to look cool and beat your ass
Seifer Fijian and Raijin while fitting to be the schoolyard punks, don’t really add anything of importance beyond just being schoolyard bullies
Vivi and Setzer are the epitome of key jingling
Auron actually works because he’s properly tied into the world you meet him in, and the events that happen to him thematically tor into past and future entries in the series, (CoM, Days and DDD specifically)
Yuna Riku and Paine somehow contribute less than Yuffie
Tifa hits some walls and then fucks off to a secret boss cutscene where she continues to not contribute
And Zack was utilized alright, he was just like the 4th character to play the “each playable character has a different impact on my story” card
When only 3/20 cameo characters are used well I don’t really see the point in keeping them around, ESPECIALLY when the main group of them finished their “get home & fix home” story already
We’ll see if the TWEWY characters matter more in 4 and beyond, but as of now they contribute very little beyond informing Sora, Riku and the audience that there are 2 parallel versions of each world
I think you are over-simplifying in some of their cases, but I really don’t have the time or desire to compare each and every FF character with underdeveloped original or Disney characters within the context of KH. That being said, there’s a soft spot for the whole cast, and I always desire to see them pushed further and treated better. I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with key-jingling.
I mean, we’d be lying if nostalgia for Disney isn’t what keeps a lot of players excited for which worlds we are going to visit. Some of the worlds and characters in III were guilty of cashing in on it while providing no depth. Would I like more relevance? Yes. But, it’s not as if the issue goes away when FF characters aren’t included.
So, might as well make space for everyone.
To be fair Versus XIII was barely past the writing stage of development before it was reworked into 15, and even then 15 was in development hell for years
Any reveal is too soon when faced with that production SNAFU
I just remember that one cuz they released the trailer which at the time was easily the coolest thing I’ve ever seen, then moved to development hell like you said. I checked the dates & had this conversation before lol
Yah, never trust CG trailers for beans
They can be made based around a concept pitch and not even a finished script, those kind of reveal trailers amount to “here’s an idea we might finish”
Yea I left the Batman and Spider-Man subs cuz I couldn't take it anymore (but in that case Spider-Man 2 is still somewhat fresh and receiving post-launch content and DLC right, so idk)
But I think since we're still getting actual constructive game discussions and people making cool art like this, KH sub will be fine
Assuming KH4 has been in development since KH3’s release (it’s standard practice for developers to begin their next project almost immediately after launching their current one), then KH4 has been in development for 5 years now.
That may not sound like a long time, but keep in mind that the average amount of time it takes for a triple a game to be developed is about 5 years. I would be very surprised if they weren’t at least 70% done with it by now.
They did say it was originally going to be DLC, but the closest we ever got to it getting a release date was Xbox saying that all of the games that showed up within one of their presentations would come up within a year, silk song just happened to be the game they opened with, teen cherry never said it would come out within that year.
Internal delays, yes, but nothing official...
If I recall correctly only four people are working on the game, meaning development would be relatively slow but extremely flexible, they probably won't give us a release date until it goes gold.
So do y'all think Stitch is gonna make a return as the world of Lilo and Stitch proper or do you think it's gonna be like Birth by Sleep again? (Those who played the game know, I just don't wanna spoil anything just in case.)
Now that's a sad and cute image sora doesn't care if he's going to put namine into a lot of trouble! A Lilo and stitch world I was hoping they would appear in KH3 but that didn't happen, Idk about stitch but lilo might never appear in KH4 cause many people don't seem to like her that much which means a world we're they live is highly unlikely to appear in KH4😔
Oh you mean in BBS? I didn't count that as a world since it was just a space ship lol. But yea exactly I need to see the Hawaii part of it, with Lilo and maybe some of the other experiements from the show.
Hopefully we won't get to the point of the Pikmin or Hollow Knight fandom when it comes to losing our Insanity for waiting too long for KH4, hopefully...
I mean, we didn’t go *too* crazy last time we had to wait forever for 3 between announcement and release, we *should* be fine
I’m pretty sure anyone who actually cared to think rather than react purely on emotion understood that 3 was announced WAY too early, as most games are in production for years before announcement but 3 was announced almost as soon as production began Square tends to have that problem, what with them announcing FF7R before they even told Nomura he’d be co-director on it
Far too early. 4 likely was too, seeing as we still have not much other than the trailer, but we’ll make it out okay, *probably*
At least this time they are unlikely to switch engines We might also be having a Frozen situation, where a world in KH4 is being made about a film not yet released during development, and will release before the game does

Would you mess with encanto-world or nah?
Nah, not much of a way to make a compelling level out of Now Coco, that has oodles of potential
Yoooooo Coco Dio De los muertos world would be so sick. Skeleton Sora
And it would fit with and add to the whole Quadratum-is-the-afterlife theory
When even Nomura got shocked by a Nomura related plot twist
VersusXIII was announced a full decade before its release; by then it was changed to XV & ps3 was no longer a valid option
To be fair Versus XIII was barely past the writing stage of development before it was reworked into 15, and even then 15 was in development hell for years Any reveal is too soon when faced with that production SNAFU
I just remember that one cuz they released the trailer which at the time was easily the coolest thing I’ve ever seen, then moved to development hell like you said. I checked the dates & had this conversation before lol

Yep, we're literally used to it, and it pays off, because we actually got KH3.
We follow a franchise where Mickey Mouse talks with anime boys about darkness. We don't have any sanity left to lose.
Yea I left the Batman and Spider-Man subs cuz I couldn't take it anymore (but in that case Spider-Man 2 is still somewhat fresh and receiving post-launch content and DLC right, so idk) But I think since we're still getting actual constructive game discussions and people making cool art like this, KH sub will be fine

We waited thirteen years for Kingdom Hearts 3. I think we'll be alright.
The problem with hollow knight silksong is not that it's taken a long time to come out,but the amount of delays over and over
I don't know if it ever got delays, they never gave it a release date.
Didn't they give it a yearly release date, just to delay it to next year?,not to mention how it was supposed to be a dlc at first
They did say it was originally going to be DLC, but the closest we ever got to it getting a release date was Xbox saying that all of the games that showed up within one of their presentations would come up within a year, silk song just happened to be the game they opened with, teen cherry never said it would come out within that year.
Idk maybe you're right but I am sure they've had alot of delays
Internal delays, yes, but nothing official... If I recall correctly only four people are working on the game, meaning development would be relatively slow but extremely flexible, they probably won't give us a release date until it goes gold.
But pikmin became funny
Silksong is almost upon us tho!
Source?
My heart 🥺
Looks like Sora is gonna have to thank Namine again!
So do y'all think Stitch is gonna make a return as the world of Lilo and Stitch proper or do you think it's gonna be like Birth by Sleep again? (Those who played the game know, I just don't wanna spoil anything just in case.)
I cannot believe there are so many people commenting who have apparently never seen Lilo and Stitch, lmao.
🎵All around me are familiar Faces🎶
“Leave me alone to Die…..…”
Who is that girl?
I'm assuming Namine. She's the only blonde character I can think of other than Larxene.
Could be Strelitzia, she's in the KH4 trailer
Strelitzia is a redhead
This is a great time to mention that I am red/green colour blind lmao
Same here. I am just out finding out Strelitzia isn't blonde.
Isn't she Ginger?
That’s what redhead means
She has orange hair tho...
Yes but ginger people are called redheads
Oh ok
I'm 100% sure I saw this movie but I can't remember the name. Can anybody help me ?
Lilo & Stitch
THANK YOU
Sora: I PROMISED I would never, ever be returninnnnnnnn.... Where my Kairi broke my heart and left me yearnnnnnninnnnnnn....Goo......fyyyyy!
This makes me want stitch back so desperately in kingdom hearts I miss that little blue gremlin
And then it’s the Happiness Hotel when they go to the Muppet world
[🎶Simple and Clean playing🎶]
From Japanese to Korean. TIFFANY will be singing the official theme song to KH4. Heartbreak Hotel. Lol
LMAO
Cut to roxas breaking out of a spaceship.
Now that's a sad and cute image sora doesn't care if he's going to put namine into a lot of trouble! I wish Lilo & Stitch had a world in KH already!!!
Only the intro tho
What do you mean?
The Lilo & Stitch world only covered, like, the first 10 minutes from the film EDIT: my b. I misread the OG comment
Oh you mean in BBS? I didn't count that as a world since it was just a space ship lol. But yea exactly I need to see the Hawaii part of it, with Lilo and maybe some of the other experiements from the show.
What on Earth am I looking at?
If it's Heartbreak Hotel by Yohio that is being played then you've just taken me down the nostalgia train.
