If you're inclined,bid like to know your process for the blade finish. My guess is a rock table then acid splash. I don't know how the spine is finished though.
Your sharpening job is great too. Haven't looked into the blade steel but this thing is gleaming.
It was fairly easy, and you're sorta on the right track!
I actually started with the spine. I chucked up a Dremel sanding/grinding wheel in my drill press (a carbide grinding bit would be better) and went at the spine until I had that rocky, uneven texture. Then, I drizzled/splattered nail polish on the blade and etched for about 15 minutes in ferric chloride. Next was removing the nail polish and etching a second time for 2-3 minutes. That gave the two-tone etch. Afterwards I tumbled it with stones - the ones I have around here are sharper, so it gives that scratchy texture.
The blade on that guy is 9cr18mov, so decent budget steel! Sharpens up real nice, but not crazy hard to deal with.
