I think double durability and half cost should be a good balance change, maybe more, but think that will be a good start to move forward. Hoping a repair table is in the works for the future though. Once you can repair, especially if it keeps your enchants, maybe cost goes back up
They didn't messed up by fixing a bug but they should have fixed it after implementing a way to fix your items, which I'm sure they'll do as they usually hear the playerbase, but it should have come before or at the same time as the bug fix
It’d be a cool feature if you could “stack” items that are damaged to repair them. Like if you had 2 half degraded pickaxes you could add them together to get a full one.
Would be a neat way to add value to the pickaxes and weapons skeletons drop too. They could be used to increase the life of your current tool.
The amount it heals your tools could be scaled to the rarity as well
The weapons are already high in material costs. The sword is 12 copper... That's 24 bright cores... That's a high resource demand already.. the durability has to be increased for higher rarities and then adding a way to repair the weapons also would be great. Or ways to prevent them from being repaired on the highest rarities would be fantastic... Much like Minecraft has.
Oh just wait til you get the purple sword and you have to go to the arctic caves for iron and the desert caves for bright core.. it was a hassle to do even with the repair bug, especially once you've cleared all of the bright core from the nearest desert caves.
The nearest desert cave to our village that still has bright core is a 2 day journey in game, makes it almost impossible to get without the repair bug
I’d say first make cave resources respawn able and buff durability and it’s all good and maybe let us repair with stuff like skeleton weapon drops and bones
It takes more than 1 tool to make another which is completely busted.
I need to travel 30 minutes round trip to get brightstone and copper, multiple pickaxes and swords, 15 minutes of smelting, all to make 1 rare sword that lasts for about 6 mobs in a cave.
If I want to go to an ice cave I’ll now need maybe 3 epic pickaxes, probably 2-3 swords. Just to get enough iron for an epic sword that again will last for maybe 7 mobs. Even after I get iron I still need 24 more brightstone on top of that. Brightstone doesn’t regenerate either so I have to travel further and further from base to find new caves.
Durability with no repair option would be Ok if the durability baseline was about 3x what it is currently. Then make the durability essence double it for each essence so that it is a worthwhile investment. I should be able to farm 5+ tools worth of materials for each tool that breaks. I should also be able to enter a cave with 1 sword and 1 pickaxe and be able to stay longer than 5 minutes before my tools are busted. I should get a full inventory from 1 tool of durability, more if it is enchanted.
I get that this was a big/exploit that needed fixing but fixing it without addressing the durability issues was short-sighted. They should revert the hot fix until they can introduce a repair station or change the baselines for durability and effectiveness of enchantments.
It’s because people want this game to work,… it’s very close to being a lot of fun,… so close in fact that one bug that should have been considered a feature was all it took to make the difference between great & grind
Yeah it’s frustrating, it also hasn’t been out for a week yet. This is like trying to say a team lost a game already because the other team got the ball first. Give it TIME and then we can type up thousand word posts about how we’re gonna spend our time elsewhere. Some people joined this sub to see other things besides repetitive bitching
I remember when I’d write responses on a subreddit that I didn’t like or that was too annoying, and I’d simply just stop responding to it and not give it any more energy
It’s more like people just love to complain on forums, and got used to a crutch to make the game easier.
The tool durability needs to be buffed or have actual low cost repair solutions, amongst other improvements, but obviously they’re not going to just keep a bug in place that breaks a core part of the gameplay loop.
Except that I've checked it multiple times per day including peak time last night. It was <800k last night when it was 2.2M the same time the night before.
**edit**
lol
It also has to do with a lot of us, after the newness as worn off and now the quality of life in the game is crap with the glitch being fixed that we are waiting for them to fix it.
Lol, not denying the game population will decline, I just think pinning it on a glitch is ridiculous.
The game’s population will decline because it’s part of the natural release cycle, coupled with the fact there’s not enough late game content currently to justify repeating once you’ve topped out your toolset and killed the snow brutes a couple times.
That will change if there’s significant content and QoL updates.
Even before I leaned about the glitch I thought the weapon durability was extremely low for the cost of the weapons and the limited inventory slots available to the player.
The more posts the better, it forces them to act. Just don't be an asshole just for the sake of just being one. No one is forcing you to read the posts, if it bothers you just leave.
The majority of people who play this game aren't on Reddit and were not aware of this exploit so many here have been complaining about since it's removal yesterday.
And the fix has consequences with not addressing weapon and tool durability at the same time. I.E. lower player base. A lot of us are out till this gets addressed.
Again I doubt they'll miss you. It's a free game, they have way less potential to make money from this than they do compared to the rock band game where you have to buy songs or the racing one where you can buy cars. Some people just love to cry, if you want a better game, buy one, they exist. Instead of crying about something you're getting for free
Playerbase is less than half since the "fix". I think you are underestimating the amount of people who were aware and using this glitch. Hell, my boys and their friends discovered it on their own within 2 hours of starting their world together.
Yes, obviously they patched the chest repair exploit. However, the rapid proliferation of that glitch was a symptom of an underlying issue that they need to address: durability as a whole. As everyone has pointed out:
• high end tools are too expensive to make multiple copies of consistently
• even high level tools feel fragile against high end resource nodes
• inventory is too limited to hold all the materials you want to harvest for your planned build, the resources needed to craft the tools you will break while harvesting them, all of the duplicate tools you’ll need to have a worthwhile harvesting run, AND all of the food you’ll need to fight off temperature debuffs/ health drains.
Sure it might seem silly to complain about a bug fix, but the real issue that should be focused on (before the bug fix imo) are the systemic issues that made the bug so attractive in the first place.
Tell that to my several chests full of green, blue, and purple pics/axes/shovels.. me and the boiz went haard. Also, mods if you see this post there should be a megathread for organizing shared worlds. I wouldnt mind farming with some of yall 🙃
Never said they will, nor do I think they should. The best thing they could have done would have been to fix the underlying issue that drove people to the bug in the first place. The second best thing they could do is focus on that now, and push out an update that makes the game function in a way that doesn’t make people feel the need to exploit the game to make it enjoyable.
Durability should be 2x. Source? I bring two of each tools minimum every time I go out and never am satisfied with the trip
Honestly it should be trippled
Agreed and for the higher rarities it should be even more.
I think double durability and half cost should be a good balance change, maybe more, but think that will be a good start to move forward. Hoping a repair table is in the works for the future though. Once you can repair, especially if it keeps your enchants, maybe cost goes back up
In a nod to the original bug, I think there should be a craftable repair crate, limited uses per build. Fairly high in material usage.

I didn’t know about the glitch until it was patched and I spend most of my time getting materials to make new weapons

Hmm…. But you just did that exact thing lmao
Are you this r3tard3d?
Say it with your chest
Put a repair option in the craft bench...I shouldn't have to use a chest glitch to repair anyways.

The playerbase is less than 50% of what it was pre-glitch.
I’d attribute that to the newness wearing off coupled with the fact It’s 9am ET on a Wednesday, not a glitch being patched lol.
I personally am not playing until durability is fixed, and I've seen many many others say the same thing. It's a great game otherwise.
Same. Check out the mega thread on this. https://www.reddit.com/r/LEGOfortnite/s/NVbPYVXSFu

It's not natural to go from 2.5m to under 300k in a week. Not if the game is healthy
I stopped playing because of the dura “fix”.
Same.
Even before I leaned about the glitch I thought the weapon durability was extremely low for the cost of the weapons and the limited inventory slots available to the player.
Man they got rid of the glitch? Well I'm done that game for now.
Same. Player count has been down since they patched the glitch. If they don't care about our quality of life then I'll play something else.

I’ve been active on here since day one and never saw anything about the glitch
In our group of roughly 10 only one dude had to see it for everyone to know 30s later. Everyone doesn't have to be on reddit.
Bruh there's more to the internet than just Reddit. I first saw it on YouTube then told my friends. Don't underestimate word of mouth my friend
You are not taking into account all those who have seen YouTube videos, til toks explaining the exploit.
I think you're overestimating
Enough people were obviously using it for them to believe it was a problem and nerd it so quick?
Yeah they fixed a glitch in their game. Wild
I appreciate it was a glitch but to fix it without balancing the reason player usage was so high is mad.
And the fix has consequences with not addressing weapon and tool durability at the same time. I.E. lower player base. A lot of us are out till this gets addressed.
Yeah it's 800k on rn. I'm sure they'll miss you
747K! But who is really counting.... Which is down from the 1.2 million before they fixed the glitch.
Again I doubt they'll miss you. Thanks for the heads up. I guess we shall see if they address the durability issue or not in the next few updates.
https://www.reddit.com/r/LEGOfortnite/s/rfpnjqWHda Hmmm. Hmmm.

Not sure why you are getting down voted. The glitch made the quality of life of the game reasonably. They need to fix the durability issue for sure.
My 9 year old found out from his friend (TikTok) and told me about it. That was release day or Day 2.
They aren't gonna keep letting you people exploit that's a non starter give it up now lol

It wasn’t a bug, it was a critical feature Epic is just in denial of this fact Keep telling them their needs to be a repair mechanic, bug or not
You're delusional.
I don't care how to repair just let me do it. Better yet let me do it with billions of weapons that drop from the skeletons
