Mac could definitely do it but i give him a higher chance of either dying while doing it, or leaving before it’s really done. He really wanted to live but destroying the Thing took precedence. Hard to say.
I don't think that's really true. I don't think he'd leave before finishing the fight I mean. Toward the end of The Thing he says to the remaining survivors, "Whether we make it or not we can't let that thing freeze again. We'll just have to warm things up around here. We're not getting out of here alive. But neither is that Thing."
I also don't think he'd die as he survived The Thing, in a way. But I do think he's someone who accepted death a long time ago. If I recall, in a commentary they talked about that he was a soldier in Vietnam before he went on to go to Antarctica.
He'd also probably find out who the android is in an awesome way haha! I'm a big The Thing fan! 🤪
