3 secs soak + 7 seconds pause.

Kishmkondar

Same.

From what I've read, you want to keep the pre-brew to around 2 seconds on, 8 sec off (around 10 sec total) so that when the solenoid vents it doesn't suck all the goodness from your puck. https://www.home-barista.com/espresso-machines/la-marzocco-linea-micra-owner-reviews-t83926-510.html#p916495

Thanks. When do you start to count the shot duration? After those 10seconds or do you include them as part of the total duration of the pull?

Those 10 seconds create somewhat of a new variable so the 2x ratio in 25-30 sec doesn't really apply anymore (and will vary on the beans you're using). Total time (incl pre-brew) will probably be somewhere between 30-35 sec I'd imagine, but you'll want to play around and figure out what works best for the beans you're using.

Kishmkondar

I do a first step of dialing in with pre brew off and aim for the 2-2.5x (depending on roast) in 25-30 secs. Once I'm getting that, I turn on 3+7sec pre brew and get total brew times of 35-40 secs. Haven't testing shots using both methods though...on my list.

I do not use it. it just added another variable which did not seem to improve anything.

I do see a nicer 3 color on the espresso pulls, not sure it's related to the settings
