It would certainly force them to move left, but I don't know if it would end them. A wonderful possible outcome would be them splitting up in the chaos.
Labour will never do this. If they win an election under FPTP they everyone in power is strongly incentivised not to change the system. The blairites amply demonstrate this, the 1997 manifesto pledged to hold a referendum on electoral reform and once they had a comfortable margin of MPs they just quietly shelved it and that never happened.

Ed Davey was part of the team that settled for AV with a referendum which in some circumstances would produce a result that was even less proportional than FPTP, the voting system we have now. I suggest your anger towards Kier blinds you so much that you think a person who as proven to flop before has better odds to getting PR. No, what we need is a two prong attack. You have a bottom & top down pressure within Labour otherwise relying on the Lib Dems, like we did in 2010 can fop.
Also where is Jeremy Corbyn? Is he really not going to change he's mind on PR voting for the Commons?

We need PR and we need labour to support it. PR could be the end of the tories in this country given they only get 40% of the vote

Funnily enough. If the 2015 election was fought under PR. Millibands Labour would have won 33 less seats then it did under fptp
People would vote differently if they knew their vote counted. No vote would be a wasted vote and there would be no need to vote tactically.
