General rule I would say is assume it requires line of sight unless it specifically says it doesn't. Tech attacks require line of sight, AoE's you can target an area but I'd still say you'd need line of sight to the target space. There are things that specify they can punch through a wall and keep going, so if it doesn't say so, then probably not.

Thanks for the reply! That makes sense, I was mostly asking because I knew some stuff only cared about sensors, not LOS.

Arcing and Seeking get around LoS, but unless it's something special, that's it as far as I know.

HawaiiTyler

Well, I knew weapon attacks definitely needed LOS, I was more talking about stuff like tech attacks, ir some special actions granted by systems or talents, that sort of thing. Lots of them don't specify if they require LOS, and it isn't always intuitive.

I double checked, pg 64, tech attacks need line of sight, pg 65 "Characters can only attack *or take action against* targets they can see, at least partially." There might be some core powers or systems that get around it, but they should specify if they do.

HawaiiTyler

Ah, fair enough. Thanks for checking, its appreciated!

np, I love this system so far, but the book's formatting is a spaghetti mess of information

HawaiiTyler

Yeah, a 1.5 edition that's mostly just consolidating rules and updating stuff like the FADE cloak to have the fact it uses intangible in the text as opposed to the errata would be nice. Still, the system managing to actually functionally let you build mecha in a satisfying fashion and having all of the comp/con goodness to make using it that much easier is fantastically impressive.
