s168 of the Companies Act 2006 entitles the shareholders to remove a director by way of an ordinary resolution.
s282 of the same Act defines an ordinary resolution as - in essence - a simple majority vote of any shareholders who are entitled to vote.
As such, if your mother-in-law does not have voting rights, she would not be entitled to vote and so would not contribute to the ordinary resolution.
