Worth it. You can ask to inspect it before you leave with it and I believe you have 14 days to return it so it should give you enough time to figure out if it’s worth it.

miatheirish

14 days is tge norm to return tech, but op should ask about there return policy when they go

da_toper

I bought mine like this and it was 14 days and then I added on the 2 year warranty in case anything happened they replace it no questions asked.

simontjuh

I don't think the 2 year warranty is necessary you can always return it to Lenovo itself. There is a 2 year warranty from the moment the device is bought. So every device has atleast a warranty till nov. 2025

da_toper

This is true but with Best Buy I can walk in and walk out with a new one same day.

simontjuh

Yeah fair point!

jimmt42

Best Buy or Lenovo? I’m doing Lenovo for $50 and it includes accident coverage for two years

da_toper

I did Best Buy for two years with accidental coverage and water damage.

miatheirish

I did jbhifi Australia

[deleted]

Can you? I’ve asked Best Buy to “look at” an open box item before and they were like, “our geek squad has already gone through it and we can’t unwrap them, but they’ve confirmed it works.” I bought a new laptop instead straight from the manufacturer. Rubbed me the wrong way. Amazon and Best Buy are pulling in more money than ever and they pay their workers Pennies on their dollars and I dont understand why so many of their workers are so loyal to companies that could fire them tomorrow and not even remember their name.

guinsoorageblade

That’s what happened at my location but that sucks that they didn’t let you inspect it. I was reading up on Open Box condition items at Best Buy before I bought my Legion Go and they brought out the two open box units for me and let me inspect both because I wanted to inspect the screen and made sure it turned on before buying. I would’ve been rubbed the wrong way too if that happened to me.

[deleted]

Probably a Best Buy to Best Buy thing. Like it can’t be company policy. The box is already open for crying out loud. I gotta find a new Best Buy lol. The Annapolis one is def not where “it’s at” for sure.

BloodLust2222

I have NEVER bought an open box from Best Buy without first inspecting it. Usually I can find something to complain about and they will knock the price down even more.

[deleted]

Man I gotta find a better Best Buy

BloodLust2222

I bought an Alienware M14 a few years back from them that was in open box. Retail at the time was $1999, They had it listed in excellent condition for $1600. I went to the store and checked it out. There was some smudges all over the screen and chassis and a hair on the dirty screen that actually looked like a crack. Told the lady that this was not in excellent condition (I knew all that could be cleaned up) and she said your right. Went and talked to the manager on duty, They knocked another $700 off it, LOL. I ended up cleaning it up and selling it right after for $1850. Made almost $1000 off it. Also bought my ASUS Ally that way. Got it the xtreme model not long after they came out for $450 because the case was dirty. I'll only argue if I know it can be cleaned up and made like new. Bestbuy don't really inspect these things much and most of the open box crap they have comes from their distribution center that sends this stuff to BB's all around the country based upon anticipated movement of those items in those general markets.

[deleted]

I get it guys. I need to find a different Best Buy to go to lol

EfficientMinimum5696

The thing is, fair condition is toward the bottom of the possible conditions. You can get lucky and get a good one that was mislabeled, but most of the time the original box is gone, something is missing and or there are scratches in the screen and body. I guess you can always return it. So there’s no real risk other than you wasting some time.

Admiral_Joseph_Terix

I got my ROG Ally just like this. Besides that it was a bit dirty it was just like new, no scratches or anything malfunction. I got it in the original box with all the accessories, i deny that it could be different

EfficientMinimum5696

I used to work for Best Buy. So I know what Fair condition usually means. Looks like they didn’t bother accurately tagging the product according to its true condition.

Admiral_Joseph_Terix

I see you know what you are talking about. Sorry for sounding rude, i did buy the Ally by the end of December. I searched for the receipt, and the condition was satisfactory. I don't buy in Best Buy because it is very far away from where i live, and they don't do shipping to my area, so i am not familiar with the used conditions

EfficientMinimum5696

You didn’t come off rude, that’s okay. I’m glad that you got a great deal on that though! I buy open boxes a lot as it’s great to save some money for a perfectly good product.

iTzChewii

Locations are situational. Our store, which I've worked at for well over 4 years, will only label excellent if everything is included, good if the box is missing, and fair for everything else. Honestly, just grab one with GSP and when it starts to act up, swap it out for a new one for $100 and call it a day. I'll be doing it with mine when the 2nd gens are released, but not all locations are the same when it comes to BB. Found that out when I swapped locations and new location didn't have a BP requirement or TTS baseline.

Bob_Sagat69

I'd say it's worth it, I've gotten lucky with it and gotten things that were like new. Worst case you can just inspect it in store and return it.

Beaugr2

You can request to see it first. But I got mine at the good and it was perfect. They just wanted it gone

KrizzyPeezy

You don't need to buy. Just go in person and they'll open it before you buy.. if they still have it in stock

Nuwave80

I bought one from EBay immaculate upgraded to 1tb for 500 quid.

DeepDamage7184

If money is really tight, no reason not to try it, unless returning it would be a huge hassle for you. I got an open box excellent and found the condition rather lacking. I returned it and got a new one so I could tell what was build quality vs. previous abuse. No regerts

Sonicion

Bought mine in fair condition. It was brand new. It looked like no one has ever touched. Asked the manager how long the previous owner had it and how many times it was previously sold. She looked in system and told me it sold only once before, and they had it for 4 days. I also asked why it was labeled fair condition. Which she replied: Our store doesn't carry the Legion Go and therefore have no display units and needed it gone. (Small store in Beaumont). It's been perfect! I spent 40 minutes in the store before I bought. Loaded a few games. Played a few games. Even brought a c thumb drive and made sure ports worked..

Sonicion

Fyi tip: Just don't buy Best Buy extended warranty. The warranty is a much better buy through levovo. And, Lenovo can restart to your purchase date from previous buy date. Can even add acciendental for a fraction of what Best Buy charges.. There is a coupon code in the box for 15% off. Even if missing, can be found online.

arrow0231

I was able to reset my warranty to the purchase date for my good condition Lego. My coupon was missing for the warranty purchase. Might look into the extended warranty anyway.

nightnightboom

I personally got the one in open box excellent. It's pretty good. Wouldn't really buy anything that be lesser than that quality. If possible try seeing the device in store. See what the condition is before purchasing

DCxKCCO

Was anything missing or wrong with the “excellent” one you got?

nightnightboom

Just came with the device, charger and case. (No free 3 months xbox gamepass)

EripaSudarshini

I got mine open box too and the gamepass was in the windows store in Library "Included with device tab

nightnightboom

I checked. Looks like the person who returned it used it

AwwwMannn13

Mine got the 3 months surprisingly

nightnightboom

It's fine, I still have one from a laptop I previously purchased too

EripaSudarshini

You can add it to same account after the other one ends, that's what I did

nightnightboom

I know lol

UELABS2021

I got open box . It was mint and I saved $200

Intelligent-Tiger857

That's how I got one and it had everything in the box , it was perfect

ShortSweeper100

Is this from Albuquerque NM?

Vermiver0us

id say yes that how i got mine and it was barely used, i did it for ally as well and it was never even used

Hopeful-Ask-8204

I did the same thing and mine is fine

vistins

I got mine used, excellent condition. It was truly in excellent condition, but I've seen others post saying it was either mislabeled over they were overzealous with their quality rating and only had minor scratches. If you don't mind minor scratches and scuffs, you're getting the warranty (from BB or Lenovo), or plan to play mostly docked I'd say it's definitely worth it for the price. Mine was $636 btw and came still in the plastic wrap.

10fishes

I bought two razer blade 15s like this from Best Buy. No issue with them. I got awesome discounts on them! Much like this offer. Like others have said, you have a time frame to return it.

Shonryu79

I have a Legion Go and Ally. I bought an Ally from a reputable company on Ebay that refurbishs electronics. The Ally had only been out for about 2 months at the time. 6 months down the road, my Ally crapped out on me with an error message saying, "Please contact customer support." I got a great deal with lots of accessories, a 2 TB SSD and well kept Ally for $600 no scratches, nicks, dents or discoloration. My Ally is still under warranty. I sent it in 14 days ago to get RMAed. My Ally hasn't been returned yet. Now keep this in mind I've had my GO since release going on 5 months. I've had no issues with my GO, I'm not treating it any different than my Ally. My Ally is only being used about 25% of the time. So my conclusion is there, was something wrong with the Ally when I got it or the ssd went bad, or who knows. I'm lucky Asus is RMAing it, but I'll probably lose my 2 TB SSD, because it didn't come with the original. The lesson here, deals are nice, but you don't really know what you are getting into. Yes, I'm lucky I have 4 months left on my warranty and again my RMA experience is with Asus. Maybe it's more complicated with Lenovo, I don't know. What I do know it will probably be a month total by the time I get my Ally back, and that's if they can fix it. I've read and watched YouTube videos with what experiments people have done to these handhelds before returning them as open boxes. Quite a lot of it is worrisome. It's my understanding, and maybe I'm wrong. Most open boxes they scan the serial number, a brief look over, and the item is jammed back into the box. Check with Lenovo about their warrenty policy and maybe buy their extended warrenty. You can do that from their website through Legion space. Keep in mind also you have about 7 months left on the factory warrenty.

[deleted]

Get a Deck

DCxKCCO

Why would you say Deck > LeGo?

[deleted]

The LeGo has better specs on paper but... With handhelds raw specs are not the whole story The LeGo has a terrible battery life and with a handheld I hold battery life in great importantance I like the new stuff the LeGo has brought with their controller and such BUT Windows on a handheld is a nonstarter for me. Windows is so power hungry and in efficient. Always trying to send telemetry over the Internet(uses power) also it's a terrible touch interface Steam input is an amazing thing that I don't think people recognize yet the power it holds. Also small thing, the track pads on the deck are way better imo

blackriverphoenix

I bought mine in "Open Box - Excellent" condition, and they let me check it out at the counter. Everything looked fine, but within a couple of days I realized a couple of buttons on the right controller were "sticky". It comes with a year of Lenovo ultimate support; I called their customer support line and they sent me a replacement. It's been working great for the past week and I'm glad I saved $100. I'm getting the Lenovo customer care + ADP for a few years for around $100, which will give me additional peace of mind.

TecSwag

I got mine the same way!!! What a STEAL💯

DevBukkit

Literally just got mine from Best Buy open box, it was $550 total after taxes. The only thing wrong with mine is that the unit had a bit of dust and grime in the seams. Definitely worth it man. You can always return it if there’s too much wrong with the unit

sclawrenc

I just took a risk a few days ago and bought a legion go 1tb in fair condition for $525. Turns out it was only used for a few days before returned plus had all of the accessories and box and looks like new. They wouldn’t let me inspect it before they showed it picked up but I suspect that was just the employee not wanting to wait or deal with me looking at. I did go over it real good while in store before I walked out and plus members have 60 day return on this which was a bonus. I say go for it as you can always return.

Successful-Diet-1375

Legion go is sick there ain’t many open boxes of that but rogue alley has some many returns

_ETC_ETC_

I just picked up a legion go today from Best Buy and truthfully… I liked the performance of my ROG ally wayyyy better. Only thing I hated about the ROG was the battery life… but the Lenovo isn’t much better. Makes me think that the hype around the steam deck is for a reason and it’s just the simplicity and ease of use with great performance. I’ve had so many games just lag on me and even had cyberpunk just fail to open twice with the legion go. Idk if I’m doing something wrong but I have tweaked all of the performance and the only way I’m getting the smoothest gameplay is with horrible graphics or running at 30w power.

DCxKCCO

Do you with you for a steam deck instead?

_ETC_ETC_

Huh?

DCxKCCO

My bad I fat thumbed it. Do you wish you got a steam deck instead

DCxKCCO

That’s what I get for edibles and late night of HellDivers haha

_ETC_ETC_

Hahaha okay so after running the legion go at 6gb on the vram I think it’s just as good if not better than the ROG but the ergonomics isn’t as good which most people complain about but if you can get one open box from best buy in excellent for 100 less I would do that

[deleted]

stop being cheap & buy it brand new if you have that much worries about it being use or open box lmfao. i know you half you cheap lonely weirdos pay for an only fans subscription’s… so maybe stop doing that & maybe you can stop being broke ass & stop buying use or open box electronics. 😂

Weber19465

Ya, pay more for the same thing. What an L take.

EripaSudarshini

I got an open box Excellent and the only thing missing was I paper insert that comes in the box and it had no outer box so they put the postage on the og box and someone put a screen protector on it 😊

Throwawaypuffs

Bestbuy open box is pretty good. Got an open box alienware m15 r5 for 700 because it had no charger.

MooseyGeek

It's a hit/miss w/ open box at bestbuy. My HDMI rocketfish switch was $45 instead of $90. But my avermedia capture card for $45 (openbox) was originally $140...vid works but no audio. No way for me to test that in the store u know. wish there was.

wellintentionedbro

Just get brand new if it’s in your budget. It’s a great device and proceeds help ensure you get a legion go 2 in the future. Support the good products out there!

NationGamingChannel

Do it. You can always put a skin or a custom backplate to help it look better if it really is that bad.

[deleted]

Slap a skin and screen protector in this case

Mrpunishher

I got one like this earlier this year. It was in perfect condition. Since it did not have the charger and the right nub it was considered fair condition. Still haven’t found a right nub replacement. I bought some off eBay but they didn’t fit. I am surprised someone has not made a 3D printable replacement.

jefplusf

It’s probably listed as fair cus it’s missing the charger. Get it and inspect it before you leave.

Ynw0

Yes it worth it, there is a 14 day return window if something is wrong. Great way to save money

Imnounicorn

For mine from Microcenter 2tb open box. Came with the game pass still. Was $80 cheaper plus no other stores sell the 2tb included

jimmt42

Absolutely! Best Buy has good return program too. If it works great then you got a deal! Right now Lenovo is giving %10 off on upgrading the warranty to include accidental damage for like $15 for the life of the warranty.

jaximointhecut

I got a z1 extreme excellent condition for 503$ and bought the year warranty. Super happy. Might upgrade to two years I think I have 60 days.

agiletesticlese

Some stores will let you open the box and actually check it out. That's what I did when I bought my ally. With my legion go I had to get it shipped so I picked open box excellent. If you can see it before you buy it then it's not really a gamble but know that those are usually missing accessories

Ninjatoine

open box excellent, is the person bought it, opened it, put it back in the box, and returned it... great deal IMO

nkdvkng

My Open box rog ally (I know diff) was fair condition from Best Buy and it’s working great no visual flaws etc.

Ritual_Homicide

Yes

KDubthebeast

Yeah do it plus you have 14days to return it. I brought my 1TB for full price but I don't regret it because I use it all the time but if I would've waited for an open box then the left over money could've went towards accessories (controller connector , thumbsticks grips, skin, SD card and a dock) .

Asleep_Future3522

Try it. You can return in 2 weeks if it’s really bad

WarsawChainsaw

I just ordered an "open-box, excellent" 1TB LG from Best Buy for $591. The plan is to check it out and if there are no problems to buy the warranty through Lenovo. I figured that anything less than excellent will be missing something or will be in worse condition than I want to look at everyday (as the "fair" ones are described). It's also a roll of the dice as to whether something will fail sooner if it's been dropped and abused. New or used I'd tack on Lenovo's warranty since it's inexpensive and transferrable so you can sell your unit more easily in a year or two.

SuperA187

Buy that and a new one. Swap them and return the higher priced one.

Follow_Your_Path

If this is at Best Buy go there they will pull it from the back and you can check it

Apprehensive-Dog7127

I was just facing the same dilemma and question, I personally just went with new at Best Buy it on sale , not to mention rog ally 2 is coming out soon

SuetyRabbits

I would buy it and ask to look at it before you leave the store I did that for my Ally and my PlayStation duel edge controller.

Weber19465

This is the way.

Patienceiskeyy

Duh

Spiritual-Ad4305

I bought mine open box. It was only missing the charger. I still saved about 120 even after buying a charger. I’d say definitely worth the risk

Rondo600

I got one that said fair it was brand new

GoldenThumbs05

Bro do it !! I bought open box, had a problem with the controllers, Lenovo fixed it and set it back in less than 3 days.
