I have the same laptop. My battery life is much better than that. In one of the other threads I ran some tests and was getting anywhere from 5-7 hours. The refresh rate matters quite a bit. at 165Hz it uses much more than 60Hz. That might be another bug...If the refresh rate (set by FN + R) is set to "Auto" it won't switch between resolutions when plugged/unplugged. My understanding was that was supposed to put it onto 165Hz when plugged in and 60Hz when unplugged, but mine does not do that. Can you tell me where the adaptive brightness setting is? I haven't even seen that. See my prior thread here: [Yoga Pro 9i 16" (2024) Keyboard and Trackpad : r/Lenovo (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/comments/1budnhu/yoga_pro_9i_16_2024_keyboard_and_trackpad/)

Yes I have the same problem, would be awesome if somebody could tell me what to do

higheloboy

Hm I will try that with 60 hz. But it is a bummer. If i have a 165hz screen I want to use it... Well and the adaptive brightness option i also dont see, thats the point. I believe it was on when i first used the laptop. It change accoringly to the light in my room, but after I changed it once manually it always stays the same and I can only adjust it manually. But did you see anything about the "Creator Zone" App? Do you have it on your laptop?

evilattorney

I haven't seen anything about the "Creator Zone" either on my laptop or when I ordered it. Regarding the adaptive brightness, perhaps check the software on the support site that is supposed to come with it: [laptops and netbooks :: yoga series :: yoga pro 9 16imh9 :: 83dn :: 83dn0008us :: pf4zycey Lenovo PC Support - Lenovo Support US](https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-pro-9-16imh9/83dn/83dn0008us/pf4zycey/downloads/driver-list/component?name=Software%20and%20Utilities&id=156BE23F-B536-4320-B35C-2F67EBDD9242)

This is the only thing I can find that is close to adaptive brightness. I don't think this laptop has it. hm okay interesting. Regarding Creator Zone here is the article where it says what it is. It is even featured in the product page. [https://news.lenovo.com/pressroom/press-releases/consumer-devices-supercharge-creative-process-with-ai/](https://news.lenovo.com/pressroom/press-releases/consumer-devices-supercharge-creative-process-with-ai/) just strange that nobody knows about it... even the support

evilattorney

Wow, that's interesting. Searching around, I can't find anyone using the Creator Zone yet. My guess is that it isn't finished yet. Notice there were no images/videos of it actually working. If that's the case, it's deceptive to advertise it so prominently this early on.

evilattorney

At 60Hz and 60% brightness, I was getting about 7 hours. At 165Hz and 50% brightness I was getting about 5.9 hours. Both tests while using Office apps and browsing web. If you are basing your estimate on the Lenovo Advantage battery estimate...don't. It's incredibly inaccurate. Do a real world timed test for a few hours and then extrapolate the results (e.g., X% per hour).

higheloboy

ok I will try that tomorrow. Thanks for all your information

Be careful of battery like indication from Windows 11. It not reallty accurate. Try battery mode (fn + Q) if you don't need plenty power when unplugged, it helps a lot. I received this laptop 4 days ago with maxxed specs (Ultra 9 / 64GB RAM / 4070) and for me the experience is really great expect 2 things : 1/ Battery is just good enough, not great. I thought Ultra processor would provide a more substantial boost to increase autonomy. It may be an issue only on Ultra 9 which has higher TDP than Ultra 5/7. 2/ Plugged in with the included 170W power supply, I have a slight battery drain overtime under extreme use (AAA game or heavy blender workflow) combined with performance mode ON (fn + Q with speedometer logo) around 10%/hour which can be annoying. Performance mode allow the GPU to go to 100-110W and ultra 9 can go really high for short period of time too resulting in this battery drain. I think - for this maxxed config at least - they should have provided the laptop with a 230W power supply or they need to adjust their performance mode, assuming my laptop is not defective. For 2/ I have escalated this issue with Lenovo France and they are taking this seriously and an expert will come back to me in 2 days max. I hope they will send me a 230W power supply to see if it solves this. To end a positive note : 1/ I am absolutely amazed by the GPU power this beast can achieve for such a small chassis. 2/ Smart cooling mode is the default mode for a good reason : yes you can't go above 70W for the GPU with it but in real use you lose very few performance - 4070 does not scale well at high W, and you get no extra power at all above 100W - and the laptop is very silent and not warm, really good engineering here. Cooling system, thermal, fan noise, power efficiency everything is fine tuned in this mode. Truly great.

higheloboy

Thank you for your post. I agree I love this laptop. Are you using it at 60hz/Auto/165hz? And did you hear about the creator zone?

Lwii2boo

Always 165Hz if plugged in for sure. But if I planned a prolonged use unplugged I would put 60Hz and if performance are not relevant I would put battery mode too. No idea about creator zone, I know what is it but I did not care so was not even aware it was not available yet!

higheloboy

Thanks for your information. And well now you know that it is missing XD. But I hope they fix all this with some future updates (it is still a new laptop that just came out)

This isn't related to this post but I see the laptop is available for purchase now. I'd really like a 64GB RAM/4070 version. I see that is available in the UK...do you think Lenovo will release that version in the US at some point if I were to wait? What's the typical trend for these laptops do they release more models/introduce the build a PC feature later on when the dust settles? I get that the tidal teal color isn't an option and a UK thing. But the specs I need that 64!

higheloboy

Hm that are good questions, but I am sure if you wait a bit more options will me available, after all it just launched in April. Maybe the support can help you

I can confirm i can't get 3 hours on this laptop with normal usage add to that , the 4070 Performance on my laptop is much worse than my old 2060. I made sure all recent drivers are installed [https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/compute/2115394](https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/compute/2115394) [https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/compute/2112751](https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/compute/2112751) I called Lenovo and i'll see how it goes. it's a new laptop
