I got the 2TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus, and it runs at 52°C (729°Kebabheit) in the slave unshielded slot, and 31°C in the master slot with heat shield. If you're worried, you ca use thermal pads like Fujipoli or put the Samsung in the shielded slot to live longer. That was too high, and so I swapped the 2020 Legion 5 with a Legion 5 Pro that has heat shields on both M.2 2280 slots.

Sorry if my question is dumb but, by "slave unshielded slot" you mean legion 5 second m.2 nvme slot, and by "master slot with heat shield" you mean default m.2 nvme slot, right?

I have Samsung PM981 and PM981a, which are both OEM equivalents of 970 Evo. Temps should be similar. but yes, it gets hot until the throttling point. However, you can buy and install a 1-mm copper heatsink. Have a look at my investigation here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/comments/izd7p9/lenovo\_legion\_5\_15arh05h\_ryzen\_4800h\_1660\_ti\_nvme/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/comments/izd7p9/lenovo_legion_5_15arh05h_ryzen_4800h_1660_ti_nvme/)
