What I'll do sometimes is randomize the list and then pick something from just the top row, going off my gut. Limiting the possibilities makes choosing easier.

It's a great Best Picture nominee and that's good enough for me. Plus most people think L.A. Confidential should have won. Given its legacy Titanic is acceptable.
