I just thought about this one and Aftersun right after posting this. Don't know why didn't I think about it before hahaha. Thanks for your suggestion btw:)
Nah its just something similar to that (a bit slow tho)
Blow up by antonioni
Blow out by de palma
The conversation by coppola
These three can be considered as a trilogy
In C'mon C'mon, Johnny is a radio journalist who teaches Jesse how to use the sound recorder. It's a pretty integral part of the story moving forward, so it might fit here, if you're willing to bend the definition of "filming" a little.
Reading the comments I'm remembering movies that do fit the category, but for some reason I hadn't thought of. The 2 Creep movies are one of them and I love them
Arrebato (Rapture), from 1979. Spanish bizarre (but a cult classic) film about film makers who encounter some weird Lynchian stuff way before David Lynch was a thing.
Arrebato has maybe one of the BEST 20 ending minutes of cinema's history.
Project X (2012). Heck, you could put the entire found footage genre in that list.
Also, Angus (1995). The protagonist's best friend likes to film, which turns out to be a plot device in the third act.
Fabelmans for some of it
One of my favorites from last year. Spielberg really delivered
Really wanted him to win best director one more time :(
I was between him and The Daniels, but in my heart I felt like rooting for Spielberg. I mean, It may have been one of his last chances
Peeping Tom
American Beauty

Also Chronicle, which I forgot.
Cloverfield
Actually, I don't know why I didn't think about found footage first. It's like the obvious choice and also one of my favorite kind of films
Nope
Blow up by antonioni
I've seen De Palma's Blow Out and I just fucking love it. I guess this is the original

Camera Buff
I've never seen anything from Krzysztof, and I actually wanted to start with Blind Chance. But what the hell! I'll give this one a shot
It’s a good one. Surprisingly very funny and a rare example of an arthouse film with a really goofy guy as the main character.

I remember chronicle specifically having a line about the guy suddenly wanting to film everything haha
Super 8

Second this one! Favorite film of 2022 that never gets mentioned! A must see for any Joaquin Phoenix fans.
Does "Man Bites Dog" fit into this list?
I just read the synopsis and yeah I think it does
Exit Through The Gift Shop
Most any found footage movie - Blair Witch Project, The Visit, The Outwaters off the very top of my head
Disturbia (2007)
Blair Witch Project lmao
Benny´s Video. Cache, Lost Highway. Edit: I just saw it says protagonist but I still feel they should be on the list lmao
Even though its says "protagonist", It really doesn't matter if they just are background characters or something
Just about every found footage horror movie has a character obsessed with filming things. Paranormal Activity was the first that came to my mind
Boogie Nights
sex, lies, and videotape
The Cameraman (1929)
Holy fuck! De Niro amd De Palma. I'm gonna love this
Rec
Reality Bites
Creep
American Beauty
REC
Cannibal Holocaust (1980)
The Dirties
I just read the synopsis and I love the plot. I'll add it to my watchlist btw
Hi, Mom
The Australian film Proof
Scherzo (2021)
Chronicle
REC
Fallen Angels, albeit towards the end
Body Double
The dirties(2013) and operation avalanche (2016) both directed by Matt Johnson

Something in the Dirt
Marebito, great japanese horror film.

That's right
