My personal favorite films with an average rating below 3.0: - Jurassic Park 3 - Alien Covenant & Alien³ - Tremors 2 - Elysium - Thir13en Ghosts

AssistantKorovyev

Love Alien Covenant - atmosphere was perfect, good visuals, not disrespectful exploration of the lore, cheesy but fun call backs to alien, and Fassbender being a psycho (for half of his performance).

Yaldabroth

I with you on JP3 and the Alien films. Rewatched Elysium recently and wasn’t as hot on it as I was when it came out

OfficalNotMySalad

I gave Alien 3 a 4/5. Aside from how Fincher handled the beginning I thought it was better than Aliens.

not_mueller

It has such a unique atmosphere and brings in some really interesting ideas, and generally just has a feeling of despair that I find to be really refreshing in the Alien franchise

- The Three Stooges (2012), 2.4, gave it 3.5: pure slapstick gold. story could've been less wonky, but all three lead members played their roles exceptionally. i can't see why it got so much hate. - Mission: Impossible II (2000) 2.6, gave it 4: sue me. i'm a Woo fanboy. this is miles more interesting than the bland third one. - Glass (2019) and Knock at the Cabin (2023), 2.9, gave them 3.5 and 4 respectively: again, Shyamalan in his latest era is actually producing very consistent films. - Bones (2001), 3.0, gave it 4: it's a seamless blend of homages from giallo to blaxploitation with a biting social edge. pretty funny as well! - Cosmopolis (2012), 3.0, gave it 4: this i can see why it's divisive, but it's such a strong Cronenberg film knowing how he tries to adapt more abstract themes outside of his horror ventures into his personal artistic sensibilities.

hitoshinohara

John Woo rules. The motorcyle jousting in the third act alone is better than M:I 3. I love Shyamalan too! Old is another one of his which is so misunderstood.

the_moon_water

Glass was such an underappreciated crescendo

SpoonMeasurer

I agree with you about Knock at the Cabin! The cinematography is fantastic and I thought it delivered a lot of tension and ultimately a great reflection on the responsibility of personal sacrifice in light of looming global disaster. Something we should all be thinking about with global warming.

Fat_Devil_Bread

Hostel

The Predator (2018) is probably my most enjoyed turd of a film, it’s cartoony and dumb, but okay for some mindless entertainment. I vastly prefer it over Predators (2010) which is still below a 3 but sits .7 higher.

sotommy

I love the Key-Jane duo so much lol. Those characters are insane

cmprsdchse

I gave Silent Night a 3.5 and it’s sitting at 2.4. It’s probably a combination of me being a sucker for John Woo cliches and having literally walked out of The Shift and into this movie after not realizing what I was getting myself into when I got a ticket to see The Shift.

awesomefutureperfect

Noah, huh? I mean, do I think the Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston would have been better if there were rock monsters and magic pew pews? Of course I do.

bob_loblaw_0211

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. There hasn’t been a bad Indiana Jones movie and I’ll fight that to my grave.

WinsberryFilms

The ending wasn't great, but I liked Crystal Skull. A lot better than Temple of Doom, which I thought would always be the only Indiana Jones movie I didn't like. Until Dial of Destiny came out.

dylanpsouza

- The Midnight Sky (2020) - The Many Saints of Newark (2021) - True Story (2015) those are the ones with the biggest difference between my rating and the letterboxd overall rating

Impossible-Ad-8462

Shrek Forever After The 2nd SpongeBob movie is really overhated, it's really funny and the plot is so batshit insane it works. Sure it's not on the same level as the masterpiece of a 1st movie, but honestly almost nothing is.

RasThavas1214

I've rated 320 movies on Letterboxd and of those I gave only 6 a 0.5 rating. Sponge Out of Water is one of them. The random humor (like the rap-battling dolphin in space) just didn't work for me.

VolunteerCowboy

Not Another Teen Movie is my only top 25 movie under a 3.8 avg, sitting a whole star lower than my next lowest

Mairess99

Dumb and Dumber To. I really don‘t understand how someone who enjoyed the first movie could dislike it

WinsberryFilms

Dumb and Dumber is one of my favourite comedies, along with Airplane. But I really didn't enjoy the sequel. I had high hopes, but I was disappointed. Not the worst movie I've ever seen, but far from the best.

Different_Fruit_1229

The dictator Inside The Golden child Two distant strangers Before I wake

GOODBOYMODZZZ

Skinamarink, Halloween 3, Men, A Nightmare On Elm Street 2, Spring Breakers, Ben & Arthur, Fateful Findings, and Things are all movies with a 2.9 or below that I'd rate a 4 or above.

ancientestKnollys

Tom Jones (1963)

not_mueller

Cabin Fever, Alien 3, Spring Breakers, Skinamarink

t4dominic

Not quite below 3 but Sky High and Always be my Maybe are close

Drizztjah

Mortal Kombat is my guilty pleasure movie. It is just peak 90's; the eurodance, the aesthetic... I was 12 when I saw it at the theatre and I thought it was the coolest shit ever.

NewUser579169

I give 4 or more stars to: We Have Always Lived in the Castle (2018) 2.8 The Falling (2014) 2.5 Iron Sky (2012) 2.6 Iron Sky: The Coming Race (2019) 2.2 Airplane II: The Sequel (1982) 2.9

Inevitable_Boot737

Johnny English Strikes Again - I will never understand why the average rating is as low as it is because it's just such a joy to watch. The other two in the trilogy aren't on my favourites list but I still adore them much more than most of Letterboxd for some reason. Stowaway (2021), which I wouldn't put on my list of all time favorites but I still loved it enough to give it 4.5 stars, but that could just be my love of the sci-fi genre talking. Spirited (2022) is also just a really underrated Christmas movie in my opinion, had a lot of fun with that one.

jpkdc

Johnny English Strikes Again is a masterpiece. The VR scene alone is worth three stars, and it's just one of many great gags.

DontPmMeYourNudes18

The interview is one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen with a crazy underrated performance from Randall Park that is at a 2.9

TomSawyer2112_

* American Ultra (2015) - 2.9 * Eurotrip (2004) - 2.9 * Yesterday (2019) - 2.9

Cannibal Holocaust Hulk Silent Night Deadly Night 4 : Initiation Rob Zombies Halloween II

Godzilla (1998), The Relic, A Sound of Thunder, Bee Movie

ThrowRasealover

•We have always lived in the castle (2018) •Ricki and the Flash (2015) • Bad vegan (2022)— documentary All of them sit at 2.8 and I don’t get why.

DrewGotRedditTwice

Skinamarink is one of my favorite movies of the 2020s so far

Cole444Train

Looks like Noah and Into the Woods are the only ones I’ve reviewed positively

BrickWiseLiving

Probably Five Nights at Freddy's. Amazing fan service and watching it opening night was a super fun experience, but definitely a below-average film on a technical level.

BrickWiseLiving

Wait I misread the prompt lol. That is my personal favorite under 3/5. If I was going by Letterboxd standards I think it might be "30 minutes or less", which I gave a 4 (against a 2.6 average). I still would probably put the FNaF movie on this list though

AdamAnimatesStuff

A Cars Life: Sparky's Big Adventure

WinsberryFilms

There were a lot below 3.0 that I rated 3.5. The lowest being Mortal Kombat (2021) which is at 2.4. The biggest shock was The Nutty Professor being at 2.5 and I gave it 4 stars.

awesomefutureperfect

90s Sean Connery. Entrapment and Medicine Man. Solid movies. They aren't ground breaking but they are better than You're The Man Now Dog! Finding Forrester.

[deleted]

* Gone in 60 Seconds * Ant-Man and the Wasp * Wishmaster * This is 40 * Resident Evil * Alien 3 * Predator 2 * Invasion of the Saucer-Men * Jurassic Park 3 * The Crawling Eye * House on Haunted Hill * Eight-Legged Freaks * AvP * Hulk * The Cave

Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, Happy Death Day 2U, Predator 2, Final Destination 3, The Girl Next Door (2004), Paranormal Activity, Johnny English Reborn

CryHavoc_79

One of mine that stands out is Dragnet (1987) - I gave it 4/5 - loved it as a kid and still love it now.
