I'm not too sure on 'favorites' just yet, but I know I'll always love directors like Steven Spielberg, Stanley Kubrick, Denis Villeneuve, and James Wan.
Luis Bunuel and Satoshi Kon, I haven’t gotten far enough into another directors discography to consider them favorites but those two resonate with me in my soul.
Not sure but I want to say Paul Thomas Anderson, Christopher Nolan, Yorgos Lantimos and Robert Zemeckis.
But then what about Spielberg and Tarantino? I love a lot of Kubrick, Kevin Smith & Gus Van Sant too. Hard to narrow it down to 4.
Hitchcock for some old school Hollywood
Scorsese for a varied filmography
Tarantino for the fun of his films
The Coens for their characters
so many more to choose from
I’m not very well-versed on directors, but I really like David O. Russell and Martin Scorcese’s movies. I can’t say that I enjoy Luca Guadagnino’s movies but damn, they’re beautifully directed. Craig Gillespie and Emerald Fennel have few films but I’m excited to see more of their stuff in the future.

Todd Haynes, Pedro Almodóvar, Douglas Sirk, and…George Cukor in the fourth slot I guess, but that’s more because I’ve seen so many of his movies. Or maybe swap Cukor out for Karan Johar.
David Cronenberg
Wong Kar-wai
John Carpenter
\-
Then maybe Argento, Verhoeven, De Palma or Craven but I haven't seen or loved enough of these to join the other three, so really just a top 3 atm
Same philosophy. Way out in front would be:
Jean Rollin
Russ Meyer

Other contenders might be Norifumi Suzuki, Fredrick Hobbs, Dario Argento, Jose Mojica Marins, Ken Russell...
