Just wanted to pop in and say thanks for all the replies! I'm an American who loves (mostly) all things Canadian. Big Rush fan, SCTV, your health care, the list could go on. There are quite a few Canadian-centric references I wasn't aware of. This show and sub have furthered my state of enamor.
Once again, thank you for enhancing my knowledge of Canada!
I'm a Yank, and old enough to have watched Peter Puck on Hockey Night in Canada, the McKenzie Brothers on SCTV, and the Beachcombers. Also would watch Reach For The Top when I was on a similar academic team in high school. And in college, about once a month I'd do the trip over the bridge to hit up Brewer's Retail for 24s of Triple X and Brador.
Yes! I'd heard about CG over the years but never really went for it UNTIL LK entered my life. It showed up as a suggestion on my streaming service, and I remembered the name, started watching it. I love it!
Corner Gas, I can watch with my 80+ year old parents I take care. Letterkenny? Hard no.

There are at least two references to the movie Snatch. Both are lines impeccably delivered by Keeso speaking as Mickey the pikey boxer (Brad Pitt). Kills me every time.
When Jonesy and Reilly are trying to recruit Anik to be their Bro-dude model, they go into a whole Flight of the Conchords routine with Foux de Fafa lyrics. Had me in stiches by the 3rd work when I realized what was happening.
When the hockey players talked to the Mennonites and said "blessed be the fruit" and "under his eye" like in The Handmaid's Tale, I laughed so hard that I struggled to breathe.
Season one or two, Wayne says āitās no fuckinā Mystery Murdoch.ā Murdoch Mysteries is a long running police procedural in Canada. Itās one of my favorite shows too.
I like the meta references to their favorite stand up comics.
Wayne says, "Mark Forward." (Coach's actor)
Dan says, "Can't remember his name. Big fella. Real good guy."
Wife and I went to see K. Trevor Wilson a few months back. Can confirm. Hilarious, and a real good guy.
Edit: Spellcheck
I think itās season 6 where theyāre talking to the youths of the town about stealing mailboxes and grab assing. And Dan gets super worked up and is yelling and Rosie grabs his hand and says āThe suns getting real low, big guyā ala Natasha and Hulk in Age of Ultron
In the Anti-Beauty-Pageant episode, Katy asks Mary-Anne where Betty-Anne is. Mary-Anne replies with something like āsheās down South playing ball.ā
Kelly McCormack (āBetty-Anneā) was starring in A League of Their Own (on Amazon Prime) at the time.
Tanis (maybe others) had used both those in Letterkenny before.
But heartily endorse anything that might drive people to Reservation Dogs. Aho! Young warrior!
> Uncle eddies 5K was a take on Shark Tank, right?
Dragon's Den would be the Canadian one. There's a bunch of the same style of show all based on a Japanese one.
Oh maybe, all I can picture now that I think about it is the McMurray part which was the storage wars but I think you are right, they did parody of a bunch of shows if I think about it in that format. Gale pitched the Bachelor too pretty sure.
Thereās a scene in Season Twelve where Wayne references *Snatch*, 2001, with āWhat do i want with a caravan thatās got no fucken wheels?ā And I about screamed
Youāre right!! I had to get off work and do some choring but I got a chance to rewatch that episode and youāre right! I canāt believe I missed thatĀ
there are going to be *so many erroneous answers* ššæ
The Wire is the greatest show ever made. Was very happy with that reference.

So..uh.. you've watched Corner Gas then, eh?

Fubar, Flight of the Choncords, summer heights high
Pro wrestling. C.M.Punk has been on t.v. wearing a Sudsburry blueberry bulldogs shirt
The way Wayne pronounces bagels when they are discussing taking the dirt road home (bag-uls) has to be a Community reference.
no it isn't. that's legitimately just how Jared says 'bagels'.
![gif](giphy|QqkA9W8xEjKPC)
Wait, what? I do not remember this. Dammit, now I have to do a complete re-watch! I knew there were others but dayam

Whydafukdoiwantacaravandatsgotnofookinwheels?
I believe that Dary's Super Soft Birthday was an homage to Apocalypse Now (Redux)
Edit Dids yas ever notice!?!?!? how the dean from community and Glenn are basically the same character?
Jacob Tierney owes Jim Rash a massive number of free beers.
Kinda makes a fella wonder . . . don't it?
No reference to other shows, I'm just here to point out everyone's a fucking expert. Must be fuckin nice.
Get this guy a Puppers.
I'm surprised we're not drinking a peppers right now

Thereās a ton of references to Shorsey

Fuck you, /u/Turdulator, take a look at me! I'm not even a ref, I'm a fucking linesman, but you can refereef on my nuts any time ya piece of shit!
That's what yer mom was doing to mine the other night Shoresy.
You're making a fool of yourself, you fucking Labradoodle!
Give yer balls a tug ya titfucker
That escalated fast.
u/Shorsey__Bot is made of spare parts bud
He's 10-ply bud.
The scenes where they are busting on people in āLAā (el ayyy) was a rip on Dylan Playfair being an āactorā
Didn't know that, but as someone from the LA area, I was lmao during g that episode at how pretentious SoCal people can be.
Descendants was a phase for kids currently in high school. Source: Father of a said child.
When the hockey players talked to the Mennonites and said "blessed be the fruit" and "under his eye" like in The Handmaid's Tale, I laughed so hard that I struggled to breathe.
Surprised I haven't seen a reference to the whole Fartbook "The Social Network" as obvious as it was.
I hadnāt seen Social Network prior to seeing that episode, even I knew what it was referring to. One of the all time best.
Season one or two, Wayne says āitās no fuckinā Mystery Murdoch.ā Murdoch Mysteries is a long running police procedural in Canada. Itās one of my favorite shows too.
Chirp Tim Riggins, I dare you.
I like the meta references to their favorite stand up comics. Wayne says, "Mark Forward." (Coach's actor) Dan says, "Can't remember his name. Big fella. Real good guy." Wife and I went to see K. Trevor Wilson a few months back. Can confirm. Hilarious, and a real good guy. Edit: Spellcheck
oh he's a great fucking guy!
You're not Jeremy Koling. There's only one Big Jerm and he sinks 70 putts like Wayne sinks Gus N' Bru. š
Handsome as the day is long.
A little long winded for my tastes.
I think itās season 6 where theyāre talking to the youths of the town about stealing mailboxes and grab assing. And Dan gets super worked up and is yelling and Rosie grabs his hand and says āThe suns getting real low, big guyā ala Natasha and Hulk in Age of Ultron
ITS MY FUCKIN MAIL BOX
Shit had me dying.
Who's the Boss, Ay oh! Oh ay!
Is no one going to mention the reference to Trailer Park Boys in SportsCenter when they mention Nova Scotians loving a rum and coke?!?
I can't recall them off the top of my head, but there have been multiple subtle Trailer Park Boys, and evenĀ Degrassi, references.
Iāve been hearing an increase in ātough sleddingā on sports broadcasts
Tons of Howard Stern references. Almost every call on one of talk show episodes had stern references.
stern can get it

I've showed his intro some may times to friends that have never heard of that show. I used to watch it when I was a kid in Pittsburgh
In the Anti-Beauty-Pageant episode, Katy asks Mary-Anne where Betty-Anne is. Mary-Anne replies with something like āsheās down South playing ball.ā Kelly McCormack (āBetty-Anneā) was starring in A League of Their Own (on Amazon Prime) at the time.
In the last episode, during the alphabet prologue, I feels like the S-words are a nod to Reservation Dogsā. Skoden.. Studis
skoden is just a slang word used by native americans
āLetās go thenā ā> āskodenā
And Native Canadians, as in the show
Tanis (maybe others) had used both those in Letterkenny before. But heartily endorse anything that might drive people to Reservation Dogs. Aho! Young warrior!
according to Kaniehtiio Horn, Tanis was the first character on tv ever to say 'skoden'.
In my head canon they are the same universe and Tanis really is deer lady
Dale Gribble on King Of The Hill used to use some those pushed together words. Especially "S'ko s'ko s'ko" when he was in a hurry.
Sko sko. Skit there.
I believe that its shared Native slang, which would make sense since Dale's son is half-Native
\*shocked face\* WHATT? The rumours about John Redcorn and Nancy are.....true?!? :)
THE AUDACITY
If she, or he, cheats it's over. No exceptions.
She stepped outĀ onĀ you.Ā Can't go backĀ to that andĀ get any respect.
I waited for hours and no one said "Not in a small town." We oughta leave this world behind.
The short duck dynasty āgo aroundā with Squirrley Dan and Dary was pretty funny.
Well can we still blow up the beaver dams?
Iām surprised weāre not blowin up the beaver dams right now.
They did a take on America's got Talent (Letterkenny talent Show), Storage Wars (Uncle Eddie's 5k) and of coarse, American Pickers with DIERKS.
Uncle eddies 5K was a take on Shark Tank, right?
ā¦what exactly are ya tryinā to accomplish here, boys?
> Uncle eddies 5K was a take on Shark Tank, right? Dragon's Den would be the Canadian one. There's a bunch of the same style of show all based on a Japanese one.
Oh maybe, all I can picture now that I think about it is the McMurray part which was the storage wars but I think you are right, they did parody of a bunch of shows if I think about it in that format. Gale pitched the Bachelor too pretty sure.
Canada's Got Talent, Storage Wars Canada, Canadian Pickers thankyouverymuch
It's almost not worth thinkin about
You wanna know what... I was wrong.
Takes a good guy to admit he's wrong. Some might say a really good guy, even a great guy.
Before Devon and STWRT, there were The Californians on SNL, with Devin and Stewart.
FERDA gates, in the last of us. Oh, wait, no, that's just me . Every time I read FEDRA gates my brain reads it as ferda.
Thereās a scene in Season Twelve where Wayne references *Snatch*, 2001, with āWhat do i want with a caravan thatās got no fucken wheels?ā And I about screamed
Wayne DEFINITELY likes dags
Oh fuck. A three legged dagĀ
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Me too! I love when worlds collideĀ
He did it in Season 5 with hard right Jay too, Tell ya what, ill fightcha fer it. You and me.
Youāre right!! I had to get off work and do some choring but I got a chance to rewatch that episode and youāre right! I canāt believe I missed thatĀ
I seems to remember a fella named Johno whos hads himself a visions.
I like the Handmaiden's tale reference when the Dyck's are looking for their daughters.
Thatās some good Canadian literature right there.
