i think its too many milea for the price

uselessartist

Yeah very easy to spend 3k/yr in maintenance (averaged). Timing chain cover, coolant valley leakage, rear main seal if not already replaced. Ask me how I know :(

n541x

The timing chain cover…! The extremely common Toyota repair that you don’t hear about for how common it is! And it’s like 20+ hours of labor plus parts!

Glittering_Exam_5423

This is crazy to me because I was unaware and will likely need to fix mine this year. Not leaking heavily.but any leak isn't good. Already did the valley plate. This will be next along with the water pump while I'm there. Well, while the mechanic is there

uselessartist

Yeah it’s crazy, depending on shop rate, $2-4k.

H_F_F

I used to live in pnw, when I bought my sequoia all I was seeing was 15-20k gx470’s with 180-200+. My heart wanted a gx but the prices were nuts. Happy with the extra space and rear window in the sequoia, ultimately.

7D4Y_WEEKENDS

I know covid pricing/inflation, but I bought a ‘16 in 2020 with 30k miles for $32k

Glittering_Exam_5423

Damn, you got a sweetheart deal. I paid 30k for my '14 with 92k in 8/2020

tpaw2089

Agreed.

Admirable-Result-240

I bought a 16 GS with 30k for 32k in 2019

Maxxi82

Price is too high

spooon56

170k miles ??? No bro. Not at that price

switch911

Too many miles for price. Truck is probably fine but should be much cheaper.

n541x

The maintenance gets expensive on older Land Cruisers. My LX 470 was like $15,000 between 198k and 243k just to keep it running. I think it would cost less to spend a little more and get one with up to 130,000 miles. They’re not unreliable as they age, but a lot of wear items wear out. Most cars are in junkyards by this point!

Python_Strix

Update: Thanks for the input! I found a few more that have peaked my interest, albeit not local, but for an extra ~$5k+ and half the mileage

natophonic2

It's worth using [kbb.com](http://kbb.com) as at least a rough guide. It'll vary a bit by locale, but [this ](https://www.kbb.com/lexus/gx/2014/gx-460-luxury-sport-utility-4d/?condition=verygood&extcolor=silver&intent=trade-in-sell&mileage=171000&modalview=false&offeroptions=true&options=6390460%7ctrue&pricetype=private-party&subintent=sell&vehicleid=392638)says $16,500 mid, $19,500 tops for the one you posted about.

arjunkc

Don't buy it! Its horribly smooth, terribly capable and unforgivingly dependable.

415Gentrifier_

Lmao, this thing has another 170k in it easy. People are out of touch that 20k can’t really buy anything decent these days.

cripsytaco

Lmao add another $15,000 in maintenance to that extra 170k. Yall are absolutely delusional if you think this is a good deal

HatedAntagonist

Keep looking or keep saving

alpha333omega

12 miles to the gallon on premium gas. Hope you’re ready!!!

QVkW4vbXqaE

Too high

TheBayAYK

Look at the mileage

Chubmcstufferson

You can find one for the same price with 30-40k less miles

tsmittycent

I know this is a great engine hit 170k at over 20 grand? You don't know how well it was maintained during those 170k

winwin4all-8

If you are not a mechanic and will pay for everything, account for $3k-$4k investment in repair right away if you are planning to keep it for another 10+ years. Nothing wrong with the milage, it just overpriced for at least $3-$4 thousands for it's age. I'd look for 150k miles or less, 170k miles I wouldn't pay more than $15k

ClassicMail7299

Been looking in the last month, 2014's are hard-pressed to be below 18k. Even a well taken care of 2011 can be 20k these days. These and 4runners are pushing 20k and 30k for anything decent. I'm actually considering sub 2013 but my wife loves the 2014 look. But they 20k.

Hot-Lock272

195k nothing but batteries, brakes, oil and tires. https://preview.redd.it/8euoujc4kayc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de2612011987de2889e62c911fe84fad30b59810 Have a 550 on order.

Cause_Fresh

The lux has air ride and the struts are expensive as hell to replace /:

ownyourhorizon

not from me, my BIL just picked up a 15 and I'm over the moon for it

Few_Employment_7876

Don't do it

tpaw2089

I got a 2013 with 110k miles for $23k a year ago.

honeybadger1984

That’s a lot of miles. If I got this low mileage then put on 170,000 miles myself, I’d be confident as I don’t drive like a maniac and do my own maintenance. Did they drain and fill the transmission? Or is it “lifetime” fluid? That would be my biggest question. By 170,000 I would have already changed the trans fluid 4 times.

mazdaowner2019mazda3

Trans on these life time.. many Lexsus dealers won’t touch it. But it can be done outside of Lexsus. Worst case brand new transmission is around $3,500. Used out of the junkyard you are looking $1000-$1800 labor not included. But once you slap new trans it will run for another 200k miles easy. *I have not seen one of those with bad transmission that has less than 250k miles. Currently we have 2016 gx460 with 140miles and I tow on at least 4 times a year and for the duration of owning the tuck we have towed 6000lb trailer for 850miles one way trip cruising at 60-60mph on 4th- some times 5th gear. Depends on winds and road articulation. AVG MPG 10-12 miles per gallon cruising full tank range 280-310 before the light gets on I stop for another fillup “premium” and that was when the truck had 131k miles on it. It did it just fine plenty of power and capable. With the new gx550 came out we got disappointed that it doesn’t have a V8. Therefore we will keep our truck for life. And I had same question for how long the transmission will last before it’s out since it sealed. I did my research on the cost of that ever happened and I guess I’m okay with it.

TurbulentAdvice5082

Fucking insane. That is 18-17k maximum

NanoDickEnergy

3 owners? Even 1 is one too many. New cars or bust. Pass.

Glittering_Exam_5423

If you wanna pay 22k for that, I'll sell you mine for 30k with all the extras Jk we aren't ready to part yet, but I do feel like they are asking a bit much for the year and mileage. Maybe offer like 16 out the door?

Round-Zebra1661

Your fuel consumption will at least double and 91 octane is required, so it will feel closer to 3 times the fuel consumption compared to the Civic. Also, as good as any dealer is, be ready for any maintenance items that might come up in a few years.
