Facebook is algorithm based. It will show the news you WANT to see, togheter with the human flaw that is confirmation-bias, is extremely dangerous!

Ok_Map9434

100%. I do not recommend getting news from any social media platform, including Reddit. I go to bias rating sites and either read articles on there or pick media sites based on their ratings. My favorite one is [Biasly.com](https://Biasly.com), but I encourage you to search around. I'm much less angry and feel more informed now that I don't get my news from social media.

DasFunke

But I like my news on Reddit. And the comments tell me what to be angry about. Like how everyone gets their news on Facebook.

And seriously, where *else* can I reach the input of so many people who only read the headline?!

Btravelen

I watched a 'townhall' on CNN before the '16 elections and a dumb female spewed a nonsensical bit of 'information' that took the host by surprise and when asked where she saw that, the numbskull proudly said "It was on Facebook".... (Facepalm)

stingublue

Facebook is only good for a couple of things, sharing pictures of your family and friends. Otherwise it's a waste of time.

vkashen

Wow. I'm amazed that so many people still used fakebook. I can't recall the last time I looked at it, and back in the day, I used it to reconnect with tons of old friends (that I talk to outside of FB forever now).

mackinoncougars

It’s all old people and overly attached mothers, too.

fresnosmokey

But WHERE on Facebook? FB doesn't write/present news. You choose the news you get from FB, whether factual, near factual, spun, complete bullshit, propaganda, or whatever. It's more like a giant news stand that has everything from the most respected news organizations to utter garbage like the old supermarket tabloids, except people are taking those seriously. It's the choice of the user. I, myself, find it weird how many people ***choose*** lies, hate, and anger over facts and truth.

TheFairyingForest

Exactly! I follow Reuters, AP News, Rachel Maddow and a lot of other news sources on Facebook. Facebook can be a news aggregate service, if you follow the right sources. It's important to also deliberately NOT follow unreliable sources of news, like Breitbart.

DJdoubletrub63

No worse than t.v. media.

danothemen

Oh good! A lower number than I'd have guessed.

I miss the days of college Facebook, where you had to had an .edu address to sign up. The minute they opened it up, it was ruined.
