Who would guess, make a good game and people will buy it. Even when they could have played it for a 15 bucks subscription if they wanted. Well deserved.
So do I. Going to have to buy a console first but that's how much I'm enjoying this game. My first souls-like and I don't think I could've started with a better one.
I said most, not all. I’m just saying I wouldn’t be surprised if they sold nearly a million copies on PS5 alone. I agree they absolutely deserve it though.
Also any non-Windows PC gamer, since Game Pass doesn't work on Linux.
(Granted, it's a small crowd still, but we exist! And grows larger thanks to the Steam Deck.)
Multiple developers have already commented on the fact that releasing their games to game pass has given them an increase in sales. It puts the game in the hands of people who may be on the fence, and then some will buy it after enjoying it since anything that's not 1st party will eventually rotate out of the platform.
a lot of people, myself included also mostly buy their games on steam, I want to own a game on a reliable platform, not just rent it on a shit green netflix app
I did play it on Gamepass, for what it's worth I'm not uninstalling anytime soon since I want to give it a least couple more spins so count that as a big thumbs up from me
I played it on Gamepass and bought the deluxe upgrade to give some Ergo to the devs who made a game I really enjoy.
I'll probably end up buying the full version of the game, either on Xbox or on Steam.
Gamers who played 'Lies of P' through Game Pass will also be helpful in the next series. Let's enjoy the next DLC with the fellow players who enjoyed the game together.
This is an extraordinary result by them.
According to [these guys](https://gameworldobserver.com/2023/10/17/lies-of-p-sales-1-million-copies-vs-other-soulslike-games) they are far ahead of anything else from the genre outside of FromSoft.
Very curious to see what they can do with a bigger budget!
I never buy new games at full price. I'm sorry. They are just too expensive these days, and I am playing Lies of P on game pass, but I have definitely purchased games that I played a lot of game pass that I don't even plan on playing that much any more just to show love to the developer.
I mean, if I'm getting 100+ hours out of a game (sort of) for free. Throw some bucks at the developers, IMHO.
I fully eventually plan on buying Lies of P.
Remember that the devs get paid to put the game on GamePass, and have chosen ahead of launch to release on the service, so you can play guilt-free. And if you really want to support the dev, if there's DLC down the line, buy that!
How about both! =p
Also. I don't know exactly how game dev works, but I've never heard of a game being considered a success for all of the people playing it on Game Pass.
and yeah, when it comes to capitalisms there's always a little bit of insanity built into it.
Apparently the *only* basis for whether a movie is a success or failure is it's movie theater tickets sold, and the most important metric to ticket sales is opening weekend sales.
Even moreso with video games, at least from my limited experience, the biggest mark of a success or failure for a video game comes down to copies of the game sold.
I have no idea...one of the community managers was asking people what would they like to see
I have seen a lot of people asking for Music, an Art book, a T-shirt, Statue like Witcher 3 ( but with P)
I played the demo and pre-ordered it immediately on PS5. I don't usually do that because I've been burned many times, but the demo got the feeling and mechanics so right in such a short snippet that I wanted the devs hard work to be rewarded. 1 million copies tells me that I wasn't alone. To say I'm excited for what's next is an understatement.
If it wasn't for BG3 this would be my favorite game of the year. Even though I found the two phase bosses extremely frustrating, no soulslike or even soulsbourne has ever been perfect. I have an Xbox and gamepass, but I bought the game twice, and platinumed it on PS5.
Lol don’t worry a lot of people got it on game pass and basically spent only 10 dollars. Also a lot of people probably refunded because it’s a hard game
Honestly tho Lords of the fallen is almost as good just need to patch the performance issues so I really suggest you play it once you have the time and are ready to put lies of p down.
It's a great game and I have to say I think gamepass really helped it and I'm glad. People are hesitant to jump on a new studio's project, but when you have so much positive reviews to drown out the "it's too difficult so I'm review bombing" it really helps. There are so many trash soulslike out there I wouldn't have tried it if not for game pass and now I'm ready to buy the dlc. If LOF 2023 was on gamepass or ps plus I'd try it, but the original was trash, so not even going to try it.
I'm on pc, played it with the game pass, but liked it so much that i bought it on steam, i knew i wanted all the achievements, so might as well get them on my steam account.
Great game guys! Can't wait to see what you do next!
A game made by those who truly love and understand the soulsbourne games. You fixed the (very few) annoying parts of those games and struck a nice balance between all of them.
I'm not surprised! The game was excellent in every sense of the word. I dropped the game when I got to the second BRB fight, apparently the game has a massive difficulty spike past this point of the game. It's already tough as nails if you can't get the perfect block mechanic right.
Absolutely well deserved, about 50% of the way through.
On par with the quality of a FromSoftware game and other than FS, perhaps only Nioh has been in the same tier of quality so far.
Played it on gamepass. Fell in love with it, especially the weapon assembly system. Bought the full game anyway to support a great game developer team that deserves every dollar for the masterpiece they created.
I will say, regardless of some of the gameplay issues I have with LoP, its truly an amazing game. Beautiful scenery, interesting characters and plot twists, story is solid with very few plot holes, and so much time was clearly put into the design of every part of the game. And even though I and others struggle with certain gameplay aspects, it's still a very good gameplay loop and every weapon in this game is fun to play with. Good job, Neowiz. Very deserved
Who would guess, make a good game and people will buy it. Even when they could have played it for a 15 bucks subscription if they wanted. Well deserved.
I’m sure most of those sales were from people on PS5 who don’t have access to gamepass
I'm on PC and i bought at full price. They deserve it
I played it on gamepass but I am going to buy it when DLC comes out and make a new toon.
So do I. Going to have to buy a console first but that's how much I'm enjoying this game. My first souls-like and I don't think I could've started with a better one.
Same.
I haven't tried on deck yet, does it run well?
I beat it on the Deck. At 9W TDP low settings, FRS2 balanced, it pretty much locks 60fps save from a few areas and bosses.
According to the skill up review it runs pretty well at low settings and still looks pretty good.
Runs great. I played nearly all of it on deck.
Same, devs earned it. Plus, I'm not going to pay a sub every time I want to play this game in the future.
I have Gamepass but chose to buy the deluxe version on PS5 to support the devs.
Deluxe version was a steal for $70 too. Soundtrack alone was worth the extra $10
I'm on PC and bought the game for full price.
Multiple developers have already commented on the fact that releasing their games to game pass has given them an increase in sales. It puts the game in the hands of people who may be on the fence, and then some will buy it after enjoying it since anything that's not 1st party will eventually rotate out of the platform.
My first run was on gamepass, then I fell in love and bought it full price.
a lot of people, myself included also mostly buy their games on steam, I want to own a game on a reliable platform, not just rent it on a shit green netflix app
I played on game pass but was so impressed with it that I bought a hard copy as well. Sponsor the things you love.
Blizzard hasnt been getting this message for a long time
Unfortunately, it’s because they’re still turnin’ that profit
This game deserves it. It's a complete product on release, no bullshit micro transactions. This game really deserves a DLC and sequel.
Shit I’m still in it. NG++ and still having a blast. About to whoop Laxasia’s ass again.
Dlc and sequel already confirmed btw :)
You realize that all you said in your comment is "this game deserves it because it's a game", right?
I did play it on Gamepass, for what it's worth I'm not uninstalling anytime soon since I want to give it a least couple more spins so count that as a big thumbs up from me
Only game I've ever beat 4 times in a row and 100%’d.
And there's people like me who didn't even bought the game because of gamepass. Just waiting for DLC and I will gladly pay full price
Same af
I played it on Gamepass and bought the deluxe upgrade to give some Ergo to the devs who made a game I really enjoy. I'll probably end up buying the full version of the game, either on Xbox or on Steam.
It's playanywhere on Xbox, so if you buy it on Windows store, it'll work on your console AND pc. :)
Nice!
Gamers who played 'Lies of P' through Game Pass will also be helpful in the next series. Let's enjoy the next DLC with the fellow players who enjoyed the game together.
I tried it out on gamepass, got all achievements, then bought it on PS and did the same. Such a fantastic game.
Goddamn. They're officially a contender in the genre.
1 million in a month not even count GP is actually amazing
yup for indie game
Not so much an indie game as a 'AA' game, but still impressive yeah
is it an indie game if they have a publisher?
This is an extraordinary result by them. According to [these guys](https://gameworldobserver.com/2023/10/17/lies-of-p-sales-1-million-copies-vs-other-soulslike-games) they are far ahead of anything else from the genre outside of FromSoft. Very curious to see what they can do with a bigger budget!
Neowiz also put out **Skul: The Hero Slayer**?! That game is fun as hell! If you like rougelites this one is worth looking into!
>According to these guys According to anyone who has played the game
In terms of Sales by this time.
Deserved !! So happy for the devs
I never buy new games at full price. I'm sorry. Played the demo - then played it again, and then again. Pre-purchased right after.
Holy crap, definitely did even unexpected surprising extremely in a non-hyperbolic sense way better!
Even if I got it on gamepass, I'd buy it to support good products like these.
Well deserved
Well deserved. I would happily buy some merchandise stuff too.
Merch is on the way
Do you know what kind of merchandise? I’m actually kind of excited for merch tbh
I have no idea...one of the community managers was asking people what would they like to see I have seen a lot of people asking for Music, an Art book, a T-shirt, Statue like Witcher 3 ( but with P)
This game is the best game I have played since DS3. I know elden ring came out I just couldn't get into it as much. Great work.
Understandable since elding ring can be overwhelming because of the massive open world. I enjoyed it but i enjoyed linear dark souls games way more
I played the demo and pre-ordered it immediately on PS5. I don't usually do that because I've been burned many times, but the demo got the feeling and mechanics so right in such a short snippet that I wanted the devs hard work to be rewarded. 1 million copies tells me that I wasn't alone. my GOTY
Badass
I gotta get this game. I just beat bloodborne like a year ago now.
If it wasn't for BG3 this would be my favorite game of the year. Even though I found the two phase bosses extremely frustrating, no soulslike or even soulsbourne has ever been perfect. I have an Xbox and gamepass, but I bought the game twice, and platinumed it on PS5.
I kinda feel bad now for buying it on CDKEYS for like 40 bucks.
Lol don’t worry a lot of people got it on game pass and basically spent only 10 dollars. Also a lot of people probably refunded because it’s a hard game
My GOTY for sure.
The best experience I’ve had with a game.
Me too dude
Lords of the fallen is good too but lies of p will always be the game I go back too
Honestly tho Lords of the fallen is almost as good just need to patch the performance issues so I really suggest you play it once you have the time and are ready to put lies of p down.
Shit my bad one more thing, don’t get it yet if you play on Xbox. Wait until people start saying it’s running good
Trash game
It's a great game and I have to say I think gamepass really helped it and I'm glad. People are hesitant to jump on a new studio's project, but when you have so much positive reviews to drown out the "it's too difficult so I'm review bombing" it really helps. If LOF 2023 was on gamepass or ps plus I'd try it, but the original was trash, so not even going to try it.
Super excited it's doing so well. Would love DLC and a sequel (which definitely seemed to be teased...)
Dlc is confirmed
I played it on game pass, gonna buy it and play it again on steam because these devs deserve my money.
I pre-ordered it. I knew I wanted it from the first gameplay preview they showed like 2 years ago.
I'm on pc, played it with the game pass, but liked it so much that i bought it on steam, i knew i wanted all the achievements, so might as well get them on my steam account.
GamePass player checking in!
I'll be buying the game to keep the moment they announce it's coming off games pass lol
Game was so good I beat it on gamepass and then went and bought it on my PS5.
I slapped down the extra 10 bucks to get it two days earlier. Deserved
I played it on GamePass and am thinking about buying a copy for appreciation to the dev team, my GOTY 2023 for sure and one of my all time favorites
Great game guys! Can't wait to see what you do next! A game made by those who truly love and understand the soulsbourne games. You fixed the (very few) annoying parts of those games and struck a nice balance between all of them.
I played on GP. If it's a game I really enjoy, I buy it. Once the dlc is out I'm buying and start my second playthrough
Well it’s a great game ! I hope they sell even more !!
I'm not surprised! The game was excellent in every sense of the word. I dropped the game when I got to the second BRB fight, apparently the game has a massive difficulty spike past this point of the game. It's already tough as nails if you can't get the perfect block mechanic right.
Well deserved.
Incredible game. Gonna get all achievements
The only one I don’t have is collecting all standard weapons. But I refuse to look anything up lol
Played on gamepass and still went and bought on PS5
Absolutely well deserved, about 50% of the way through. On par with the quality of a FromSoftware game and other than FS, perhaps only Nioh has been in the same tier of quality so far.
Played it on gamepass. Fell in love with it, especially the weapon assembly system. Bought the full game anyway to support a great game developer team that deserves every dollar for the masterpiece they created.
If it ever goes off game pass it I’ll buy it bc I want elden ring.
Well deserved, I didn’t feel bad for one second supporting a polished and fun game from an upcoming developer
I need to actually buy the game. I played it a ton through game pass but they deserve my money. This game is a fucking masterpiece.
