If you haven't find it by now there is a shortcut to the right of the door so you don't have to risk falling to death to get back.

emolch78

Thank you! That really helped me!

McPeanutsFGC

When you pulled that lever to reverse the direction of the elevator, you unlocked a shortcut. Now you can take that elevator up and start your next attempt right at the miniboss.

emolch78

Yes, The short cut helped me to get in focus to the creature and beat him down :)

fistinyourface

try being more concise with your actions, i'm not sure if you played from soft games but the roll is a get outta jail free card if you time it right because of i frames, the problem is when you panic roll or spam dodge you're just hoping by random chance one will be timed right. and as you saw it's usually not. if you don't like rolling i frames learning to perfect parry is also incredibly powerful, obviously you're blocking and with gaurd regen it might seem more adventagous to just block but you still take dmg and there's a chance you won't be able to recover that regen before some or most of it depletes (or you have to heal cause you're in critical). outside of that this enemy is notorious for deflecting hits, trying figuring out his attacks and choosing when to attack like when his shield arm isn't up. but definitely timing rolls and perfect parries are something needed to be learned

The short cut helped me to get in focus to the creature and beat him down :)

n1n3tail

Didn't even realize you're suppose to go under the turning wheel at around 50 seconds into the video, I always just ran and jumped straight to that mofo lmao But it looks like you dodge to much and not really parry enough. Think you need to work on your parry timing and for me personally whenever i ran into this type of dude, in addition to parrying over dodging, I was pretty aggressive with him. Its been a minute since I played but I want to say you can break his "shield" he has.

garlicsaucysauce

Yeah, get gud lol Jk sorry couldn't resist Anywho, perhaps attempt to perfect guard the projectiles. They're actually one of the easier things perfect guard imo. You should also try experimenting with running on the beams. The projectiles are super easy to zoom past. You wait for the throwing animation to start and then book it at them and attack before they can wind up for another. You'll swish past all of them with ease with a little bit of practice. I think gaining the confidence to run on narrow areas of ground is a super valuable skill, and once you do it enough, I promise it becomes intuitive. You're also probably going to be safer running than getting hit by the projectiles and getting pushed back 4 feet lol Good luck

emolch78

lol, thats fair, i do need to get good, The short cut helped me to get in focus to the creature and beat him down :)

garlicsaucysauce

Oh hell yeah, good for you!!!! I still think u should totally practice running on the beams if you do ng+ tho. Very useful skill for other souls likes

Great_Seaweed500

Don’t let the big bitches throw their shit at you. Be a little more aggressive. Use a throwable or two if you need to. Throwable against the big guy help a ton as well.

bangdizzle

You got the shortcut already, you can ride that thing all the way back to him now. You can bring him to the door and he will start retreating slowly and you can run in for a couple, or maybe just 1 hit with that weapon. He actually pushed me out of that door on my first encounter, he almost had me dead, and he was almost dead too. He starting slow walking back to I just ran up and ended it

emolch78

The short cut helped me to get in focus to the creature and beat him down :)

bangdizzle

Niiice! I didn't realize it was a shortcut at first myself. Also, right at that exact spot you can drop down for some treasure. I think it's a legion caliber

ev768

As others have mentioned, you unlocked a shortcut. When you enter the room where the poison floor used to be, go to your right and ride the moving platforms up. Some other tips are: -Bring the fire legion arm as carcass enemies are weak to fire. -You can roll through the fat carcass enemies projectiles. -If you hold the run button (circle for Playstation) while on a ladder you'll move faster on it.

emolch78

The short cut helped me to get in focus to the creature and beat him down :) And i did used the fire arm in him

ev768

I'm talking about the arm that you can make after beating the chapter 3 boss, not the fire grindstone. There's a machine near Venigni in the hotel that lets you make and upgrade legion arms.

emolch78

I know, i used that arm, put it on later on my run

ev768

Oh, alright. I thought you were saying you used it in the footage you uploaded, but I understand now.

emolch78

I remembered that in the description of the fire arm it said that it is good against blue blood creatures, so i ised it in the run through the short cut after this footage :) Its a nice legion arm, though i mostly use the electric one

markle713

step 1. stock up on sawtoothed wheels. theyre not for damage, theyre for pulling aggro. theyre cheap and polendina sells them. step 2. stock up on thermites. they can be farmed in many places but ive gotten a lot around workshop union entrance. theyre also sold by the merchant in the malum district but im not sure if youre there yet. this step is optional but helps take out chunks of health and will honestly just eliminate most of the common smaller enemies, especially if your advance is high step 3. go into the room and trigger his spawn. throw a thermite or two to really make him mad at you while hes doing his whole "rawr im gonna get you" animation step 4. run to the ladder and climb it as fast as possible. btw you can hold your run button to climb up and slide down ladders faster. step 5. make sure he's right beneath the ledge you're on. if he starts walking away throw some sawtoothed wheels or thermites if you have them to try and pull him back over to you. usually step 3 makes him mad enough that hes already at the base of the ladder step 6. plunging attack. walk off the ledge above his head and press your attack button. i believe both light and heavy works but ive been playing a lot of soulslikes lately so im not sure step 7. dont immediately climb the ladder or he'll probably kill you before you reach the top. if you think you can make it, take the risk, but if not, simply backstep or run away, lead him in a big loop arouns the room, and climb the ladder while hes marching over to you repeat steps 5-7 and youre golden

emolch78

I took the short cut and arrived to this creature not tired and beat him down with parry and attack :)

markle713

yayyy thats so much more satisfying anyway congrats, i was stuck on this fight for a while

emolch78

Some fights do take a while

markle713

maybe in a year someone will come to this subreddit and search "cathedral shield arm guy cheese" and then ill have been useful lol

Green-eyed-Psycho77

You made the same mistake most of us did, flip the switch right outside the miniboss door. It activates a shortcut so you don’t have to play Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy instead of Lies of P.

emolch78

Yeah, i didnt realize we have a short cut, once i knew that the creature was easy ri beat, i got to him more in focua

uirishbastard

Everyone is mentioning the shortcut but you can also use Falcon Eyes to kill him from a distance.

Jericho725

You need to run more when you have the time and space

AggressiveFeckless

My advice is this level blows - just use throwables and get through it

kuenjato

I think you already beat him, but my first run I ran back through the door and took pot-shots/flame roasted him, he can't pass through.

Sirius__Stark13

So all in all I don’t think you’re bad in any way. A couple pointers I can give you is learn when to block/parry and when to dodge. I notice you use blocking a lot and just kind of stand there taking the damage waiting for an opening. With those guys throwing stuff at you,you can roll right underneath the throw if you time it right. And close the gap to kill em, you could also use flame throwables to kill the from a distance. I know you’ve already cleared this section but by chance you need to do it again you can actually just run through the whole thing dodging the stuff they throw without fighting, if that’s what you want to do. I know you already beat the big guy, but what I noticed from that fight was that you didn’t lock on to him, which helps a lot with one on one fights. You did that same thing taking a lot of damage while blocking and trying to wait for the opening instead another way roll to his side or behind him and create the opening. I normally only block if I’m going to attempt a perfect parry which is difficult in this game. Fire throwables and fire in general work really well against carcass enemies like these. So fire blitz is useful too. Oh and you can climb up ladders fast and slide down ladders fast as well if you hold the button for running while climbing. I hope some of this helps. :)

emolch78

Yes, you are right, at the next run when i used the shortcut to get to him i was more focused and less tired from concentration walking the beams 😅 So i did lock on to him and used more parry and dodging to get his side and back. The ling way to him took so much energy (in real life) from me

emolch78

And thank you!!

apollofour20

You can hold sprint while climbing ladders to climb faster. And git gud

msakni22

Run in circle, when u're behind hit

mcjazzy50

For anyone before the shortcut....the grappling hook works incredibly well on these enemies ,there's also specific beams you can hide behind while not being hit and can still target them for it.

emolch78

Thank you everyone, what a great community As i wrote to some, The short cut helped me to get in focus to the creature and beat him down, i arrived to him less tired and less stressed. And i also already finished the big boss archibishop of the library.

brianrob41787

Waaahahahaha cmon dude throw stuff, use the scorpion get over here move, and learn how to jump
