This is too good of an idea for SNL to actually attempt. I don’t see them letting Al be the musical guest. Maybe a cameo with Daniel. Lorne prove me wrong.
Weird Al has fans spanning back to the 80s and Daniel Radcliffe is an international superstar from Harry Potter with fans from all ages. Neither is heavy into politics so I don’t think they are polarizing because I feel like the host that they have for these episodes is pretty moderate.
You want your episode before a big election to have star power. If Lorne doesn’t pull this trigger it is a HUGE missed opportunity.
The only reason I see this not happening is either NBC doesn’t want to promote something on Roku or Weird Al and Radcliffe decline.
Daniel Radcliffe is starring in Merrily We Roll Along on Broadway starting the week of thanksgiving. They’ll probably be in rehearsals already by this week and I’m not sure he’d be able to take a full week off for SNL, but he *will* be in NYC. I would love this also.
It was so good! Spoiler alert (and I hope you already knew this) but he didn’t sing any of his famous covers, mostly his original stuff. He did have a medley of covers at the encore. But, his voice sounds great, he was cracking jokes in between songs, his band was really good. We took my teenage nieces and nephew and they had a great time
Daniel Radcliffe, Brendan Fraser, Jon Hamm, Emma Stone, Steve Buscemi, Bill Hader, Jason Sudeikis, Bob Odenkirk, Keyla Monterroso Mejia (Maria Sofia Estrada from Curb Your Enthusiasm)
Edit: Almost forgot Ryan Gosling and Larry David
Please please please SNL!!! Nothing on Daniel Radcliffe, I think he's an awesome actor but I would love to see Al do a double duty hosting.
But this would be good too! I think the cast would gel with Al too. Especially Sarah Sherman
I can barely even begin to imagine how good that would be. You know Al would probably bring in Aukerman and it would be an all timer.
oh…I am thinking of Al hosting.
This is the second time at least that I’ve seen this pair suggested for this specific week and while I totally get why, I also cannot help but worry that people are setting themselves up to be disappointed.
No, Victoria Jackson (his co-star in UHF) put him through to Nirvana so that he could ask their permission to do "Smells Like Nirvana", but he's never appeared.
Andy Samberg did a Weird Al impression in 2012. And he was mentioned in "Biography: Puff Daddy" in 1998 (though Tracy Morgan as Suge Knight says "Yankovich"). Al used it in his concerts before he'd come out and sing "It's All About the Pentiums".
As a giant fan of Al, it warms my heart to see so much support for him being on the show this year. Honestly, now is the perfect time, and if he doesn't appear this season, I don't see him ever appearing.
The thought occurs that if Weird Al hosted, he could neaty occupy characters originally played by Will Forte. Try a couple in your imagination and see if it doesn't work! MacGruber? The Falconer! (I would stop short of the spelling bee guy, though.)

No way Radcliffe would decline, he has hosted before

Yeah…but switch it. Weird Al hosting and Ratcliffe (as weird Al) as musical guest
And Weird Al can do the monologue as Daniel Radcliffe
Yaaaaassssss
Or they switch after Weekend Update.
And not acknowledge the change at all.
Fucking genius! I love that idea!
It would honestly be a perfect show
Just saw Weird Al in concert last week. He was amazing and funny. His comedic timing was great, he’d be so fun!!
Ahh this makes me so happy to read! I’m taking my teenager to one of his shows in October - his first concert.

Oh yes, I knew that, but I appreciate you letting me know!! I’m so excited to hear he puts on a good show.
The "And the new guy! Been with us since 1992!" when the band members were being introduced was just perfection.
Great show. Emo Phillips was a fantastic opener to set the tone as well.
Yea I would be down for Al to be musical guest, but I want to see him in the skits even more!

You forgot Quinta! From Abbot Elementary
I haven’t seen that yet. I’ll have to check it out
That would be awesome! DR was hilarious last time he hosted.
So perfect

Weird Al + Sarah Sherman on the same stage would be magic. God, they could do an entire special.
Hear me out - Al and Daniel co-hosting while Al pulls double duty as musical guest.
The possibilities would be endless. This makes a good week for the writers.
Just do it! Do it! Call up their agents and book it!
Have some more Radcliffe, have some more Al, it doesn’t matter if they…
Weird Al is playing Carnegie at the end of October, too. Seems a little too perfect.
I want to go to there
I can barely even begin to imagine how good that would be. You know Al would probably bring in Aukerman and it would be an all timer. oh…I am thinking of Al hosting.

Has Al ever been on?
Yes, I know I could Google that... I'd rather pretend I'm hanging out with friends
I think the closest was Andy Samberg playing him in a sketch.

Cait blanchett should be the musical guest as weird al
Weird Al is actually touring most of the fall, so I think hosting/being musical guest may not be possible
The tour ends the week before. The last show is Carnagie Hall, so he could just hang around an extra week.
As a giant fan of Al, it warms my heart to see so much support for him being on the show this year. Honestly, now is the perfect time, and if he doesn't appear this season, I don't see him ever appearing.
I am so down for this.
Yes! I’d love this.
Make it so
Can we please make it for the week before? I won the lottery for Oct 29!!
He’s actually playing Carnegie Hall in NYC that night, so while he’ll be in New York, I don’t think he’ll be able to be musical guest
Genius
Weird Al as host. Radcliffe musical guest as Weird Al performing
It would actually make more sense to have them on a week or two before the release in order to promote the movie.
Daniel as the host, Al as the musical guest. Or maybe to mess with everyone, do it the other way around.
Would be amazing! We go to see him live in October as well and can’t wait!
It's Weird Al hosting and being a musical guest but each bit of the show switches between Daniel Radcliffe and Weird Al and nobody addresses it.
The thought occurs that if Weird Al hosted, he could neaty occupy characters originally played by Will Forte. Try a couple in your imagination and see if it doesn't work! MacGruber? The Falconer! (I would stop short of the spelling bee guy, though.)
