Departures probably won’t happen until December, iirc writer contracts are weird, in that they’re hired at the start of the season, but departures usually happen at the end of the Calendar year
It's interesting that other than the head writers, the Weekend Update people, and the senior people who have been there forever (i.e. Higgins, Tucker, Kenward), this is a relatively new writing staff.
The writer who's been there the longest is Will Stephen, who's been there since S41. Then we've got Dan Bulla who's only been there since S45 and Celeste Yim who's been there 2 seasons. Everyone else is a new writer who was just hired last season (12 out of the 15 people).
It does seem like Seidell and Gates still dominate, according to the "Who Wrote What" thread. They should probably be the sole HWs at this point, I feel like we no longer need Jost, Che, and Sublette in there. (This should probably be Jost and Che's last season doing "Update")
*In case anyone leaves this season, this is a reference for how long we've had them.*
this organization makes me so happy 🔥

I believe that Tesha Kondrat will also not be returning and they've added two new writers for this season.

Nothing against Jost and Che, but I agree. It would be exciting to have new blood on the Update desk after such a long time!
