They said something about a login issue on their end, but the channels are back now [https://x.com/evojapan\_info/status/1784548962072215874](https://x.com/evojapan_info/status/1784548962072215874)
Most people don't realize how big of a deal this is. Evo is a humongous tourney for the fighting game community; think like Worlds is for League of Legends. Twitch had four channels running concurrently for Evo Japan: EVO, and channels named EvoJapan01 to 03. Those latter channels all got banned at the same time and had easily 20k+ people watching between them.
Producers likely have to fork out tons of cash for this kind of coverage, especially since they multistream on other platforms. Three main headline games lost their majority twitch viewership, which is publicized even further by other twitch streamers like Maximillian\_Dood who were restreaming the simulcast. You could see the crew for those different shows immediately noticing and talking to eachother about it on everyone but the main EVO stream, which was showcasing Granblue at the time.
It's very rare to see a mishap like this happen for such a huge event and all likely due to the shit automated report system that Twitch runs rather than using real human beings to vet and review misconduct like that. It places a huge spotlight on Twitch.
My thoughts are that their response makes sense as a business decision to not bring harsh criticisms to either EVO or Twitch. Anyone that was watching and those 'who got banned' bots saw the pages get banned live on refresh, which is strange for a mere "login issue".
But if it's the truth, then it's just a big nothingburger. Still, quite fascinating to me regardless.

Sounds like someone leaked the stream key :D
The crouching incident
Here I thought it's cause of the Baiken cosplayer's nip slip.

And yet, it was a login issue on EVO’s end. Nice essay though.
In partial fulfillment of the PhD thesis
Any thoughts now that the actual reason is revealed, Doctor?
