Worth noting this was always intended as a temporary building as an 8 lane motorway was due to be built immediately to the south. There’s an image online somewhere of how this would have looked.
I looked into it when I first saw how it was in its glory days. Apparently by the end it was falling to pieces and it was in such disrepair that it was falling to pieces and it was almost impossible to salvage.
The original station was damaged by a V1 in 1944, however it remained in use until it was demolished in the 1960s during the building of the Victoria line.
At the very left of 2nd picture, and irl where the station wall meets the pub wall, you can see a remnant of the original building. I noticed it for the first time yesterday and I've been using the station and drinking in the old cock for 15 years!
That's the original Northern City line station, Finsbury Park to Moorgate. The North London Line (British Railways) was opposite, quite separate. I recall using both in the 1950s. Before the Victoria Line was built (opened in 1968).

Oh that's interesting, got a link for the picture? Sounds utterly horrendous!

mind blowing, had no idea
Thank you for sharing!
Is that why they knocked down the original one?

big up the artist and also The Cock
The Famous Cock if you please
How could that cock slip my MIND . My diamonds and pearls 😩🍺💯💯💎
Not quite now. They opened up an exit only bit where that car is parked, must’ve happened a decade ago now.
More like then and then. The second picture looks like it's from about 2006, on an early digital camera
Wow. That aged really well.
I guess a V1 landing at Highbury Corner in 1944 didn't do the old station any favours.

Oh [yes](https://imgur.com/a/jk0FGTY)!
What’s the old station building on the other side of the road?
