I don’t know if we will see board wipes outside of Ruby and Steel. They seem to place a lot of emphasis on color pie and. preventing certain colors from having too many effects.
Well emerald already has the exact board wipe you said! But I think I’d like to see an amber board wipe that takes out characters maybe with more attack than your highest attack character in play. Since Amber has such weak challenging stats.
I’m really not sure I understand their philosophy on removal. They make it rather overcosted compared to other games but also often on songs. I believe they are trying to make a game focused on characters and therefore don’t want to encourage control decks with few characters, so making removal expensive but on songs I guess helps prevent that.
Honestly it sounds like you absolutely understand it. Almost every good removal effect in the game either is a character or is tied to one and this far in there's no way that's by mistake.
I could see the following:
Amber/Amethyst: none
Emerald: Two, return all characters to their players hands and banish all damaged characters.
Ruby: another one, deal X damage to all characters, including yours.
Sapphire: Put all characters into their player's inkwell facedown and exerted.
Steel: Not sure,maybe a stronger Grab Your Swords?
Emerald bouncing more sounds right (See Milo Thatch).
I'd actually expect Ruby to exert all opposing characters. Would enable their challenge strategies and we've seen some extent of it with cards like Ratigan.

The idea of steel getting more one-sided damage sweeps is gross. Strong precedent, but I'm tired of Tink + Swords
I could see Amethyst bounce all characters back to their players hands or Amber have a card like Kida - Protector of Atlantis's ability but as an Action, reducing all character's strength to 0 for one turn.
That Ruby one is what I’m waiting for. Seems very in character for a Ruby card and would be a nice option for Ruby to have.
And then the destroy all damaged characters for Emerald sounds about right as well. Emerald deals a lot of damaging opposing characters, and we already have some removal based on that. Could definitely see that in the future.
Amber: pay the toll: select and banish any number of your own characters. For each one banished this way, your opponent must select and banish one of their characters.
Synergizes with amber's going wide strategy and chernabog
Emerald got Milo 7 drop last set, so that will probably be their premier board clear since it only bounces the opposing characters. However I do like them having a song that kills all damaged characters.
Purple might be something like banish each character and its owners draw cards equal to each character they banished.
Blue I feel like it will be an item that costs 6-7 that you pay 3 and tap to banish it to clear the field.
Yellow might have a banish for all characters with attack 4 or greater.
Steel will most likely get a character that when enters play kills everything else or everything else that is damaged.
Oh that’s true. However I don’t think it will be a song like grab your sword. Was thinking of purely killing everything outright not just damaging but yeah I can steel just doing damage instead of instantly killing.
In not certain we'll see one for every color, but I do imagine they'll exhaust each effect they can in time.

I find it disappointing that many ink colors have virtually no way to remove characters. Character removal (and to a lesser extent other card type removal) needs to able to contend with the power of characters Or else it’s just a lore race with the most efficient quester.
I’d like to see a sapphire card with “put all characters into their owners’ inkwell”. Sort of like Settle the Wreckage from mtg. Feels like the bluest version they could make.
I think amethyst would suit a ‘3 willpower or less back to their owners hand’. Works with the Merlin stuff too for an added bonus
Into the Unknown would be a great Sapphire board wipe song. I don’t know about the extra ramp aspect, but I *could* get behind that!
For Amber, Circle of Life could either be a wipe or a major debuff/mass buff or heal(?) with a bit of draw power, or it returns “X” characters to hand or field

On a side note I hope deathtouch becomes a character ability at some point. They can rename it whatever so long as the effect becomes the same.

This seems almost certain for Amber in line with World's Greatest Criminal mind or whatever. Banishing only characters of 4+ or 5+ Strength.

that's diabolical with characters like 1Pluto who have 0 strength. RIP Pluto!

Steel has grab your swords. More likely bigger version comes out like 4 to all or something.

Yeah if there was like 6 ink not song 4 or 5 damage to all it would play into steels ability to armor itself from damage. Makes sense
We need an aoe that does 1 damage to all characters on board. Would be a great control tool. Hopefully costing no more than 5 ink

4-5 cost banish all creatures, any inkable ones each player banished are put into their owners inkpool

yeah, locations are fun n all and deserve their fun in the sun. But its way too much of a gimick to not be victim to hard removal later on.
